    Mozzarella sticks
    Roberta H.

Wow just wow we arrived about 8pm, it was not busy. We waited a few moments for the hostess to seat us, she was not having it tonight. The bench seat was dirty actually a lot of paper straw wrappers and crumbs on the floor throughout the restaurant. I went to the host stand and asked for a paper towel to wipe my seat she gave us one. It didn't do the job, (sticky) so I asked the waiter for one. He immediately sent the bus boy to clean the seats. Reese the waiter was friendly, kind, polite and apologetic. He took our drink order, they drinks were quick and tasty! We ordered two apps, it took about an hour for them to come out, AND they were not ok!!! The mozzarella sticks were cold. And the guacamole oh boy there was the entire pit in addition to some skin!!! I've been to the BJs in Orlando and had a pink Cadillac (so good) so when all of this was happening I was so confused. The waiter apologized and had the manager come over, the manager immediately took the guacamole back, and offer to make new sticks but we were done. They comped our food. ( we didn't eat anything though and didn't pack it up) AND gave a $25 gift card to put towards our two drinks. We ended up paying $9 for the two drinks, plus a tip for our very nice server. Would I return??? Maybe for a drink, but be prepared to wait!

Really good food in a nice clean, casual relaxed environment. The service is good and the food is generally consistent with delicious flavors and there is so much on the menu to choose from that I think even the pickiest eater can find something that they would really enjoy. Today we had a " Deep Dish Ziti" that has meatballs, Italian sausage, pepperoni, marinara, creamy alfredo, Italian herbs, lot's of creamy mozzarella & Parmesan cheese and fresh basil with a garlic knot on the side! So good and it just hits the spot. This may not be an Italian restaurant but honestly this dish was really wonderful and it tasted authentic and like the Italian food I always had from home. A fabulous combination of meats, cheeses, sauces & herbs everything just came together so nicely I would order it again! We also had the "New Orleans Jambalaya" this dish consists of blackened chickened breast, sautéed shrimp, chicken andouille-sausage, bell peppers, tomatoes, onions, a Cajun spiced broth over rice pilaf! The flavors here are done really well! It tasted nice and everything was cooked terrific. We decided to share some dessert so we ordered a "Salted Caramel Pizookie" which is a warm caramel cookie with sweet almond toffee, crunchy pretzel bites, white + Ghirardelli dark chocolate chips, topped with vanilla bean ice cream and caramel sauce! Absolutely heavenly! They have about 12 different Pizookie flavors and options including a Gluten-free option, a Dubai flavor, strawberry shortcake, monster and more! Everyone will love this place, bring the kids or don't. Whatever you decide to do this is a place that has it all. Gluten-free options, a kids menu, pasta, burgers, pizza, steak and slow roasted meals, entree salads, soups and more! Do not hesitate this place is worth stopping at and having a meal. I went with friends on a Friday night around 7pm. They told us it would be a 50 min wait but ended up being less than 20min which I was thankful for. I tried the Enlightened Mediterranean Chicken Bowl. Two of my friends ordered the avocado egg rolls and absolutely raved about them, so I had high hopes for my own food. It's been awhile since I've been here probably two or three years since my last visit. So unfortunately , my bowl was missing the vinaigrette flavor, it ended up feeling pretty dry and under-seasoned. The rice was crunchy and undercooked. The chicken itself was tender and nicely grilled, so that part was good. After a few bites, I asked for extra crema on the side to help with the lack of flavor. I went in with modest expectations since this was meant to be a lighter, more nutritious option, but it still felt underwhelming. That said, I do appreciate that BJ's offers lighter options, especially for evenings when I don't want something heavy or greasy. I also ordered the tiki mocktail, which had passion fruit and guava flavors. It was very sweet--I ended up watering it down with two glasses of water and basically turned it into two drinks. The $13 Pizookie meal deal is a decent value, though the portion is on the smaller side if you're used to more filling meals. With the mocktail, my total came out to about $25. I made sure I tipped as well and I'll say my range was $30-40 after tipping. BJ's does have a wide menu with something for everyone, but overall the quality didn't quite justify the prices for me this time. One friend even returned her meal and ordered something else. I will say our server was very kind and attentive, checking on us several times, which definitely helped the experience.

Well all good things come to a wtf lol. Server Katie was very delightful. Ambiance was same as usual pleasant. Food on the other hand needs much work. Order a tri tip medium with asparagus and mixed veggies. Steak was decent but all veggies and asparagus were like someone grew and picked them in a desert. As all were dry hard and not chewable. Then there was the restroom where it's seemed like no-one cared and literally felt as though someone had sprayed floor and toilets and employees were just ignoring it. Katie also did try fix situation by bringing out some more mushrooms and onions but it took so long they got ate alone not with steak. But way is see it she shouldn't have had to fix if done right

I arrived with a friend on Sunday for lunch. We sat at the high tops in the bar. I'm not sure if the server was new, but he seemed like it. We ordered a bottle of wine and he poured a "taste" pour for both of us. I assumed he just was hoping we would both sample and "ok" it but he quickly walked away. Not sure what that was about. We ordered the tuna appetizer and half of the tuna tasted very fishy and perhaps was old. I ordered the chicken pita tacos which were good. I intentionally avoided using the bathroom again because of how gross they are.

My fantastic waitress Ariana!!!!!! she should be the next manager!

My New Orleans Jambalaya was fantastic! I followed it up with an amazing Strawberry Shortcake! The service was quick and efficient! My waitress Ariana was a true superstar! She actually chose my New Orleans jambalaya for me. I gave her a 50-50 and she picked awesome. The crowd in there was very light in the place was quiet for a conversation. my only complaint, was there were a lot of people wearing these shirts with lizards on them. You have to wonder who in the world would have a lizard as a mascot. Roll Tide!!!!!

Definitely one of the better chains around this area. My husband and I always enjoy our meals and the service is good. The food is a little pricey for what you get but it's better quality than some other chains. They have a gluten free menu and their options are pretty good. I've enjoyed their pizzas, bowls, and salads. The gluten free crust is amazing. Their cheese is just ok. (Think Pizza Hut or Chuck E. Cheese cheese). Better cheese would make the pizza incredible.

Here I am again at yet another beer dinner. I'm very excited for tonight's lineup. October always brings lots of harvest beer and especially that PUMPKIN BEER! To start, we got a good Austrian-style beer that was definitely a good starter. Delicious! Then we got a Paulaner Oktoberfest beer to go with our freshly made Big Twist Pretzel with BJ's Beer Cheese.... Magnificent! Like the others at my table, I was torn between the excellent mustard AND the beer cheese to dip in! Both were fabulous! Next is the Paulaner Oktoberfest Märzen and we get their Santa Fe Salad! Great beer to pair with the spiciness of the salad. For our palate cleanser, we have a Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest and it really hit the spot! Says that it's brewed with a bunch of hops I've never heard of before! Loral, Saphir, Hersbrucker and Spalter hops. Whatever they were, they were delicious! Next is our BJ's BrewhouseClassic Tavern-Cut Pizza. This is paired with Samuel Adams Octoberfest Beer that I've been chomping at the bit to try! Delightful! I have really loved Samuel Adams ever since I tried it last year! We now have double bone-in pork chop with broccoli and mashed potatoes! This is accompanied by the Paulaner Salvator which is a dopplebock with highlights of Munich malt, chocolate and light hop notes. Blew us all away! Wow!! Lastly, our chocolate chip pizookie paired with BJ's Pumpkin Ale was absolutely to die for! Once you know they've changed the recipe by adding pumpkin puree to the beer, you can certainly taste the difference! It was a full house tonight with wonderful food, friends and beer! Gainesville BJ's-- it's my beer and delicious food home away from home!

Well, it had been a while since I did a review so I figured I would do an updated one. They have a new pizza.Crust recipes coming out new chicken wing flavors, are food and appetisers were good as always. For as many people that were eating in there, it was very nice, low volume. You can enjoy a conversation while you're eating dinner, not having to yell over music or other people. Good to see b. J's doing well still as it sits in the parking lot of the mall, which we all know malls are slowly becoming vacant spaces.

We had a deep dish pizza and the pizookie trio, both of which were delicious and arrived promptly. Our server, Bailey, was incredibly kind and attentive, providing valuable suggestions. If you're visiting, be sure to ask for her!

This is the famous Pizookie and the chicken sliders just as dry and shitty.

I ordered a caramel pizookie at 10 and this is what I got. Just a plain hard ass cookie with no icecream or drizzle. The buffalo chicken sliders just as hard and throw together. If I wanted shitty food and service I would have just gone to hooters.

I was happy to say that my experience was very good here. Our waiter was very attentive- checked my reward and told me I had a free pazookie! what's that? Ice cream with a chocolate chip cookie! My daughter had that! I had a Kim Crawford chardonnay (half price on Tuesdays) and an ahi tuna salad- it was delicious. I asked for the onions on the side as well as the rice wine vinegar dressing. They did it without an issue. I also asked for more wasabi and it was brought to me quickly. I was happy with my meal as I thought it would be huge but it was a nice portion for dinner! I liked the "blonde" coasters as well! The employees were very friendly and they were attentive. I appreciated that! I know that I will be back since I had a very good experience. They are a chain so there are many locations around.

This restaurant was completely empty but somehow our waiter still never wanted to check on us and see if we needed anything. Food was all very bad. Kids corn dogs completely burnt and not edible. Complained about it and asked for my son to get Mac and cheese instead. The waiter left without my sons food then comeback later on and said his manager wanted to see the corn dogs so he grabbed them and left. Manager never came over to say anything about it. You think if they cared at all they would have walked over and talked to us. I got chicken parm and it was cold and oddly chewy. I didn't say anything about it because of my sons food I knew they wouldn't care and I didn't want my food to get spit in it. We got the cookies at the end which is my kid's favorite part and they were raw. I had to say something about that because I didn't want my kids to get sick. Still no manager came over to talk to us. Yea we sadly won't be returning. I really don't know how this place stays open.

The brewery has a welcoming, laid-back vibe, plenty of seating, and a unique setting that celebrates both Florida culture and international soccer. Every beer I sampled was fresh, flavorful, and clearly crafted with care. Whether you enjoy light, refreshing pours or something more complex, there is something here for every palate. If you're in Gainesville and appreciate good craft beer, a welcoming crowd, and a relaxed environment, Swamp Head Brewery is definitely worth a visit. I'll be back to try more of their beers.

When we lived in Broward, we would go to the local breweries all the time so we were excited to stumble across this place. We actually never heard of Swamp Head prior to coming here. I cannot count how many times we have been here but I know it's more than 20 times. The staff is usually very personable, friendly, and attentive. We did visit a lot more when we were new to the area but visit only about once every 3-4 months when in Gainesville. We used to bring our dog and were scolded by a staff member because she was barking at another dog nearby so we stopped bringing her. Meanwhile, dogs bark all the time in there and kids are running around screaming more often than dogs barking. So that kinda turned us off. I do not drink beer anymore but when I did, I loved their Czech themed beers and every once in a while, they had some rotating flavors that I thoroughly enjoyed. Every once and a while I will order a beer and do some extra insulin but it has to be special. This place is always busy, except if you get there earlier during the weekdays. There is plenty of outdoor seating and most times there is a food truck. They have so many events so follow their pages on social media to plan accordingly. The inside is pretty spacious but gets crowded. The prices are okay but surprisingly enough, we have had their beers cheaper at other bars in the areas. You can purchase beers and growlers to go as well.

(I'll be honest, I may have actually shed a tear or two over it.) I was both excited and nervous to see what the new and "improved" LS would be like when it reopened (last week.) I was pleasantly surprised to visit tonight and see the spirit of the store captured with new whimsy and more AC than I've ever experienced at Satchels! The store portion is way smaller, but it's still just as fun. The space is more open and clean (without feeling sterile.) Anyone who has ever been there on a Friday or Saturday night knows just how needed that extra space is! The dining portion, while may technically be less tables, feels way more open. The tables are new and filled with collections (which are appreciated, especially since they lost the collection museum in the fire.) There is a sewing pattern table, a Polaroid table, a I phone screen table, a key table, a match book table, a cassette table, a bike chain table, and a couple more I couldn't view due to guests. The bar is flocked with completed puzzles and more whimsy. For those not familiar with Satchels or Lightnin' Salvage, Satchels is Gainesville's most local, funky, and delicious pizza joint, and LS is the fun shop in the back where you can meander through collections and interesting new yet vintage style toys; or simply have a drink while you wait for your table to be ready. There was a order at the counter component for food in the past, but in all my years of going I never took advantage of until tonight. Tonight I took advantage of it because 1. There was zero wait vs the (not bad for Friday at Satchels) 20 minute wait inside Satchels 2. I wanted to scope the new digs 3. I wanted to enjoy the live music 4. I wanted to enjoy the magic of their new AC. I know I've mentioned the AC twice now but this is probably the first time I've visited Satchels on a summer night and not sweat! The AC is amazing! Overall, It is not the old LS but it has many different great qualities. LS offers a cute and quirky store, nice bar area, it's own ATM (its cash only), and the ability to order Satchels pizza and salad more quickly. The food does come in to go containers and does lose a little of its magic in that, but it is still the same tasty food that put Satchels on the map.

Bocce ball court out back, there's definitely nothing that won't catch your eye. It has almost grown into the "amusement park" realm. While you might expect rides from an amusement park, this just captures your attention and amuses you. It is a wonderful display of visually restructured materials. I just wish I lived in Gainesville to watch the metamorphosis over time. I'll be back semi-annually, and I'll always go back to see how it has inevitably changed. There is also an irreverent gift shop with lots of fun stuff, and they also have live music on certain nights. Love Satchel's and Lightning.

Apple Maps struggled to provided proper directions to parking and it might be because the area is under construction so just give yourself time to find Loosey's especially if going for dinner. It sure is worth the effort though, especially if you get Matthew as your server. He is full of wit and great local knowledge. He charmed our table from our first encounter. Loosey's has to be a local favorite because the quality and freshness of the food is outstanding. Matthew is a local treasure and made our experience there so memorable and fun. We all remarked that it must be so electric there when live music is on stage or it's a Gator game day. We started with the loaded potato skins. There were 5 large pieces that were covered with toppings and delivered pipping hot. I could easily order that as a meal next time I'm in town. Their house ranch dipping sauce that is drizzled on top was delicious. Several in our group ordered the Chic-fil Loosey's, which is a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, but I wasn't able to grab a photo as they were so eager to get started eating it. The portion of chicken breast was extremely large and the batter was perfectly crispy. Both diners exclaimed it was one of their all- time favorite chicken sandwiches they had ever eaten. Another diner took advantage of their wing special and exclaimed the Buffalo Garlic sauce was fantastic and she paired them with their ranch as well. She loved their added touch of the small paper basket topping the plate of wings for the bones. I had the Classic Beef Burger and it was cooked perfectly. There was a nice peppery flavor to the grill of the burger and the patty size was more than I expected. Especially for the price. I was so happy we found Loosey's. It was really good food. I encourage you to look past the construction mess and the "old wooden bar" stereotypes and trust me when o say, they take great pride on preparing high quality food.

This time around, I had a real hankering for a steak, and I had heard that Loosey's had a decent one, so I figured I would give it a shot. It was a pretty quiet day, and walking into the place it was somewhat dead... only a couple of tables seated. A good thing, too, because parking in the area to eat there is an absolute nightmare thanks to the City of Gainesville's approach to managing the downtown area. This is what I would call a typical downtown pub in a college town, built for having a lot of standing folks coming in during the nighttime hours to drink and have a good time, but during the earlier hours the dark wood and faint smell of stale beer tells you just what this place is normally up to and how it thrives during its busy hours. I was greeted and told to sit anywhere, so I found a good two-top to sit at and looked over the menu, knowing that I was going to be going for a steak. I went with the New York Strip with fries as a side. The wait staff was cordial, and my steak came out in a reasonable amount of time. The steak is good, and the price is right in this day and age. The fries worked well with the steak. I would go back for lunch here. No chance of me going here in the evening hours though. Finding parking in the middle of the day was bad enough, I don't even want to imagine what it is like in the evening.
