Shopping today at BJs Wholesale Club in Bangor Maine. Things going well. We finished up shopping and headed for the checkout. The cashier was very rude. Barking orders...No thank ...No have a nice day. Crappy customer service. Lane 4 at around 10.am. We headed for the door and the man surveyed our cart and said you have been here two hours. Now they keep track. I tracked down a manager named Nick whom I relayed my complaint to . Told him how rude the cashier was to my wife and that it was poor customer service to be treated that way after spending almost 500.00 He did not give a rats ass. Never apologized. We told him that we will never be back to that store. We primarily do our shopping at Sam's Club where the associates treat you with respect and dignity and say thank you for shopping there. read more

We have been members of BJs for many years, and have shopped at a few locations in Florida and southern Maine. This store is certainly comparable in layout, pricing and so on. It has the same odd lack of variety (no decaf Starbucks coffee, hardly any sugar-free foods like jam, etc.). I get it; they have to stock what sells more. But we do save money on the limited number of teams we buy there, and the reduced fuel price alone can nearly pay for the annual membership. my second review in about a month. Why does this store advertise delivery but they dont deliver? Or did they lie to me? I am a disable vet, I suffer from PTSD and it is seriously hurting my life, I use as many techniques as I can to avoid triggers. Public stresses me, the size of BJs intimidates me so I was very happy when I found out I could use curbside. 4 times I have tried it, 4 times I have been seriously triggered because the app doesnt work, they cant get things right and every single time I have to go in and ask. Please understand once triggered I am in a very dark place, I really thought this would work. Last time my order wasnt ready, they blamed me, it was a day late (not my err) and I had to drive twenty miles home and return the next day (I was so bad I should no have been behind the wheel of a car, this was one of the worst PTSD triggers of my life and I am 63). I was laughed at by one person behind the counter, lied to by another when I asked if they could just deliver it..."we dont deliver" as I am looking directly at a sign that says we deliver and then today I get an email from BJs reminding us they deliver for the superbowl. IMO this particular store is not veteran friendly at all, 4 times and 4 times I was treated in a way I would never treat a person, it was beyond obvious I was in extreme distress and all the staff here could do is blame and mock me. The app for curbside does not work, at all, you must go inside. Again, when you suffer from PTSD you try your best to manuever through life, you learn tricks and typically we can do quite well as we know our limitations. However when we try and someone is deceitful and so unprofessional it thwarts all our efforts, crisis is imminent and so is the nightmares, the pain and then the incredible extreme guilt I feel after being in crisis. This is why people like me avoid things in life, we dont want to go through that. When we try to manage and complete uncaring insensitive jerks dont care it is beyond cruel...the only word I can use, it's just plain cruel. The ma nager who I spoke to should be deeply ashamed having done to me what she did, this was Tuesday, today is Sunday and it took me this long to normalize and not be in crisis and finally post this...because of a very unprofessional store with absolutely cruel managers abusin disabled veterans and I dont think one single person in the company and especially at the BJs in Bangor Maine care about the fact they abused a person with PTSD. (I cared enough about this country and the people in it to offer my life and this is the thanx I get) Just so BJs gets it, PTSD is not about what is wrong with someone, it is about what happened to them and your abuse of me is extremely out of line as you have no clue what I have been through. Love the selection at the store, however as with most stores now a days they have lessened quantity and quality of their products while increasing prices. read more

I'm giving this place a one star review because I cannot select zero. The receipt for one of my 3 orders didn't print ( needed to separate on different cards) so needless to say even though I'm on camera buying it and used my membership card and a credit card they treated me like a criminal. I stopped at BJ's for gas and when I got up to the pump I realized my gas tank was on the other side totally my fault for not remembering, so I pulled up and turned my car around to get gas didn't think it would be an issue because the big silver truck next to me was allowed to do the very same thing without issue. As soon as I got out of my car the attendant comes over to me and tells me that I can't do that because it's a one way and I need to move, I was confused because the bid silver truck that had just pulled away was allowed to get gas and without being told anything. My suv was much smaller and I was all the way on the last stall so he made the effort to walk over to me but didn't to them. Guess my skin was a little to brown to pull my car in the opposite direction. read more

After having a BJs membership and credit card for over fifteen years we recently cancelled our membership. The Bangor BJs is clean and well laid out, the staff is friendly but the variety is nothing at all like other stores in other states and the prices are really high. It's literally the only BJs I've seen that is so consistently empty. read more

If I'm not getting a discount on my groceries than why would I go through self checkout?

All I can say is it's about time something made use of the old, vacant Home Depot building that has been sitting totally abandoned for the past 8 years since Home Depot moved to its new location back in 2008. We have both a Sam's Club membership, which we've had for many years, as well as a BJ's membership and I can honestly say that we rarely ever go to Sam's anymore since BJ's opened last fall. We like their produce section as well as their deli much better than Sam's. Everything seems so much more fresh here, especially the fruit. I also feel that their selection of products is better overall. We've noticed the selection at Sam's dwindling over the past couple of years or so. We now do a majority of our grocery shopping at BJ's since we like to buy a lot of things in bulk since it saves money in the long run and saves on trips to the store during the week. The location couldn't be any more convenient, especially since we also do a lot of shopping at Target and we can park right in between the two stores and walk from one to the other. I do have to admit that I was really hoping that we'd get a Costco (LOVE going there when we are in the Boston area), but BJ's will do. read more
