I love shopping at BJ! It's my go to spot for food and even some electronics every now and then. As soon as I walk in, the vibrant display of fresh fruits greets me on the right side. I can't resist picking up a bunch of bananas, some crisp apples, and juicy cherries they're always perfectly ripe and last way longer than what I find at other stores! What truly makes my shopping experience special is their incredible international section. It's a treasure filled with my favorite Colombian goodies like arepas, empanadas, and pandebono. Can't justify the membership. even at $15 per year due to mediocre prices. I can do much better shopping the fantastic sale items at Shop Rite so I didn't renew my membership. I also hate that they have installed FLOCK LICENSE PLATE READERS in their Fairfield parking lot. I have a spotlessly clean record so I have nothing to be concerned about, but I object to my personal movements being tracked and sold by BJs for profit. This is my local store. I enjoy shopping here for affordable deli meats, dairy and eggs. Once in a while I'll purchase some other items. This location has a large parking lot. The lines can get very long depending when you shop. The employees are hit or miss. Sometimes they can be very helpful, other times they look miserable and indifferent. For me it's convenient so I'll continue going, but better employee training would be useful. read more

I just visited this location yesterday and I do say the employees are all very nice. I'm still new to the store and downloaded the app while there so I could receive additional discounts on items. I also discovered that I could scan all my items, purchase everything through my phone. I had trouble figuring how to pay and a nice employee helped me load my card to my phone. Once finished, the app displays a barcode "receipt" and you can directly roll your cart to the security guard employee at the exit who will then scan the barcode and check a few items before leaving. It's a great feature and if you are a member, don't be afraid to try it as it's very convenient. However, I still do not really love the store itself, it's just an eerie place with not a lot of shoppers and the products are not as "specialty" as what Costco carries. But the employees are very nice, they are ten stars. read more

FOOLED by the butchers! they had sold us FLAPSTEAK, not FLANK STEAK. there is a huge difference! Flapsteak has tons of sinew inside the meat, so in their Flapsteak one cannot see the sinew until it is cooked and chewed on! While Flanksteak is suppose to be tender and without sinew! Have been shopping at this particular BJ'S for years when I was checking out there was a message on the screen about upgrading my card. The guy walked over and I asked can you please scan my heavy boxes in the cart he said well that's what I came over here for as as well, I was reading the screen. He got an attitude and walked away, and wouldn't allow me to use the hand scanner. Why are these scanners removed? This is my last visit. Too many attitudes at checkout. Also went to the CUSTOMER SERVICE desk one person on their cell phone the other reading something and they told me to wait my turn there was nobody around what attitude goodbye BJ'S. read more

Good location. This is my closest bjs so I come here pretty often. Set up like a typical bjs location. The staff is friendly. Usually when I need something I can ask and they will point me in the right direction. It's only been once or twice I've come here and I couldn't find something and no one was available or willing to help me. The shelves are usually stocked up and they have a great selection of bulk items. The only issue I have is the check out lines can be really long sometimes and not managed well during those times. Even with self check-out open. So you wait for what feels like forever for a couple items. But that's it. If your in the area stop in and sign up for a bjs membership. It really is a good value. I am suffering with covid and placed a large order from BJs in Fairfield, CT. The delivery was scheduled for yesterday. Nine of the items I ordered were not delivered though I was charged for them. While they have sent me many emails, first telling me they have received my order, then that it was being processed, on its way to delivery, delivered, how did I like them? etc., etc.etc. When I sent them several emails advising them that 9 items were missing and would they please deliver them...not one response. I called and no response. I am furious with them as I am ill and really don't feel like spending so much time on this. Now I must dispute the charge on my credit card. Never again!! read more

I would give it a negative star if I could. I bought over $80 in wine for a client. On the back of the receipt it says refundable for credit. It also reads for further information go to their website and see the official rules. When purchasing I was not told they no longer do refunds. There was no viable signs at the store or even at the registers. I looked at their official policy online, and it stated that the return of liquor goes according to the state laws. I'm in CT. So I looked up the state law and it reads there is no Kew Law regarding the return of liquor, that they leave it up to the individual stores. Therefore, by their own policies and procedures they advertise that they do accept returns. I asked for the manager of the liquor store, who was a very young lady with a terrible attitude who refused to take back the wines for a credit. So j went to the attached warehouse to speak to the retail store manager and she followed me in there yelling at me. I asked her to please leave me alone, and when I went to the customer service desk to ask for a manager there, she jumped behind the desk, and got very rude with me once again. And I was told she is also the manager of the wholesale club. So I picked up my wines and walked out, but not without her still making rude comments as Ian walking out the door. I called the corporate office in Mass. They took my phone number and told me someone would get back to me, but it may take up to 3 days to return my call. They never returned my call. I've worked in retail for over 40 years. I've never known any business to treat their customers this way, let alone go against their own policy and procedures that are explicitly explained in the receipt and on line. No wonder they are practically giving their memberships away for free. I'll take coscos $100 membership any day over their almost free rate, knowing they stick to their policy and procedures, they know how to run a legit business, and in all the years I've been there, I've always been treated with respect and kindness. You couldn't pay me to go back to this establishment. read more

I would give this a higher rating BUT If your going to replace humans with "self checkout" but then every other item scanned requires an associate or manager to swipe their permission card before you can continue - seems to defeat the purpose. Right now there are 7 self checkout lanes open and 5 human ones. The flashing lights signifying that self checkout needs assistance makes the place look like a bad 70's nightclub. Bring back more humans to help the self checkouts. Oh or perhaps simply get rid of self checkout that can't work as well as humans. I placed an order YESTERDAY for pickup TODAY. My window to retrieve my items was btwn 10am-11am. I arrived at 11am to allow the full time to pick the items. It is now 11:54am and I am currently STILL in the parking lot with a toddler waiting for them to pick the items that I ordered YESTERDAY! Have to be honest on two points: #1 I've not been able to make it to this particular location in toooo long of time. But finally did! And YAY!!!! #2 I only had time/opportunity to go to the liquor department. Which was very nice, especially since point #1!! W/that said... I'm glad I made it here! Needed a couple of items for a special treat. They've got some different wines from different countries. I was super glad they don't focus most exclusively on Californian wines... while they're nice.. it's nice to be able to get wines from Europe etc!!!! Hope they never lose that!!!! oblem and have my mom get her $5 back for one item, but we ended up waiting 15 minutes because after the person in front of us left they took the person on the side first which who came after us and we were clearly there first. The person in front of us just wanted a lottery ticket but took forever!! Me and my mom were sitting there and we were clearly very upset because it was a small issue that could have been fixed in a split but it took forever and none of the employees seemed to care. After waiting about 15 minutes we finally fixed the issue, which btw only took 2 minutes. Also the security was scanning all of our things again when we were leaving and me and my mom were confused because the people in front of us didn't have to do that. FINALLY, some of their prices were good, but so many things were expensive so we didn't end up getting because Costco is so much better with their prices and you get get way better deals. I definitely recommend going to Costco instead because Costco has so much better deals than BJ's and their customer service is 100x better than BJ's. Here's a tip... go to Costco instead. I was in the self-check out line and I was able to scan everything but the register called for assistance and I wasn't able to checkout. While I was STILL waiting for assistance (and packing my cart), a BJ's employee stops about 8ft from my register, looks at the register, looks at me and she walked away. From this point, she went from the front of the Customer Service desk, then spoke w/2 other employees, came back toward the registers but walked over to where two cashier were working and starts distracting them. I walked over to her and told her I have been waiting for 10 minutes, then she has the nerve to give me attitude!!! The employees in this BJ's need serious customer service training.... I recently decided to ask the meat department a question regarding a product. Angel the butcher was the most generous, smiling, happy, knowledgable, and most pleasant person we've ever met. This used to be our go to BJ's before the stratford one was built. In comparison, this one lacks alot of what the Stratford one has. However, if i dont want to take the drive over to the one in Stratford this one does the job. And despite the recent update to the parking lot, its still the bane of my existence. read more

BJ's is a great warehouse store. I usually shop there for detergents, paper goods, organic milk and eggs. They also have a wide range of clothing for children and adults as well as great prices on books and cookbooks. They carry beautiful gift packages of chocolates and cookies for the holidays. The prices for these items are very reasonable. I have ordered cakes from the bakery and they have been excellent. This location also has a liquor store which is very convenient. I go there weekly and I recommend it for bulk items and deals. read more

I was at BJs today and these people were in there with a pitbull! This dog was not a service animal at all. The dog got very close to a woman's leg at the deli and the woman was startled and moved away. Then the pitbull and it's owners got into line and approached the person directing people which line to get in. It seemed like she was trying to tell the worker see he's okay letting him sniff himZ. The worker did not look happy. It's disgusting the dog was putting it's mouth on the packages by the deli and scratching! Service dogs do not do those things. I got so nervous I grabbed a couple things paid and left. I needed to buy so much more but I was so upset. One day you're going to let a dog in that's going to bite someone because you're not checking for service dog papers! I love dogs but it's not right and makes it harder for ACTUAL service dogs!!! read more

"The Soup Nazis." Avoid this place. I wish I could thank the people who work in this place during this difficult time, but I can't. Their attitude is the antithesis of friendly or even cordial. Controlling - not helping - customers seems to be their goal. Argumentative and bossy are some of the words that come to mind. Just like the famous "Soup Nazi" character in the Seinfeld Show. So here is what happened - this morning, after paying, on my way out of the store (with less than 7 items that included 2 hand sanitizers), I was ordered to return one. "Go to Customer Service and return one," I was told. I asked why didn't the Line Check Out/Cashier alert me to this... Answer: "why did you buy 2?" I went to customer service to return the bottle. There, again, I was asked, rudely I might add, why did I buy 2? I said next time put a sign. The Customer Service Rep pointed at a sign on the bottom of the stack, "I can see it from here,." I said putting a sign on the floor on this side of the stack is hardly visible to the customer. And I added, "this process is chaotic and idiotic." She screamed "we are not idiots." Frustrated I, firmly stated that I didn't call any one names I am describing the process." Another Rep tried to be nice and offered me a Clorox pack instead. I said no and left. Other places have similar restrictions in place, but they don't act like the Seinfeld's Show "Soup Nazi." My advice, drive few extra miles to BJ's in Stratford, Its a totally different feel and more pleasant attitude. I ordered a "Frozen" cake from this club last week, they told me it would be ready at 3pm. I got there a few minutes early and asked if it was ready yet the girl gave me an attitude and then looked for it. After not finding it she said they were going to work on it next (I don't think they had even started it). At 3:45 (the birthday party started at 4) the woman started yelling the wrong name I asked if she had meant it for me and she again gave me an attitude asking me if I knew how many names she had written on cakes that day. If it wasn't already 45 minutes later than they had said it would be ready I would have said something when they handed me this cake (see photo) on top of this experience the lines are always way too long, customer service is non existent at this location, the parking lot is awful and they don't have any of the amenities other locations have. I would rather go to Stratford, they should knock the Fairfield store down and start over. read more

The first one was from an elderly Caucasian women. She counted the items on the receipt to see if it matches the ones on the cart. Then handed the receipt. We joined when BJ's first opened, but let our membership lapse and signed up with Costco. However, we decided to give BJ's another chance, and I'm pretty pleased, overall, with this location. It's never crowded like it used to be, and I can find what I need. I will say the meats are much better than Costco, and I am getting good deals when I shop. The interior is industrial, of course, and sometimes the items are out of reach. I usually can't find someone to help me. On the positive side, I can recommend BJ's for solid values and good products. read more

The meat & frozen fish department has excellent quality and price - a very great value. I learned to shop this departmen from an excellent professional chef. I find great holiday items always - unusual and again great value and price. I have even found some amazing clothing items - and their sheets are excellent quality. I like to go here because it is so close to where I live, but I always try to keep it as in and out as possible. I have to go to the customer service counter every time I go to get a coupon booklet, regardless of the number of times I have updated my address in their system. The last time I went there (a couple days ago) and one other time, the service was horrible. The first time, I stood there waiting while a couple employees stood at the end of the counter chatting. This last time, I was once again ignored for a while as I stood in plain view as employees talked amongst themselves. I had a particularly bad experience this time with a rep named Constance, who after ignoring me for several minutes, made me feel stupid, was rude, and didn't care to look me in the eye. I overheard her saying to her coworker that people may think she has a bad attitude and I have to say they are spot on. Woman working there extremely rude. One cashier, she literally trow my BJ's card on the floor. First i didn't understand it was my card, i saw a card on the floor. One young man behind me picked it and gave it to me. When i asked her "is this my card?" she said "ooops yes" and she was laughing with another girl at the customer service, like it was ok, she was rude to me and it was funny.. Also one of my coupon didn't work so she send me to the same woman working at the customer service. when i was talking the this very rude woman at the customer service her answer wasn't clear, i told her i want to talk to manager. She threatened me to saying " When the manager comes she will take all your other coupons out of your bill" woowww what a way to treat a costumer just spend 200$$.. Her name is Aisha. I was super nice and polite to them, i guess this was my fault.. When some one nice to them they might think it is easy to bully them, very sad young woman like them, they dont have no respect to them selfs and the others..
