Bj's is the place to go for paper goods. Every time I do a price comparison of paper goods by unit price, BJ's is either the lowest or very close to the lowest. I like the quality of their paper towels, napkins, etc. They are thick and absorbent. Most of the packaging also have the thickness labelled on it, which is a great way to compare brands...usually they are labelled in microns or mils. The higher the number, the thicker the product. I shop at BJ's Franklin @ least once a week. I have requested assistance at the Customer Service Desk and directly to the store manager. The Michelob Ultra bottles were previously on the bottom shelf, readily accessible, and the cans on the bottom shelf. They have since reversed these items. Given the weight of the bottles and location height, It is more than difficult to retrieve the bottles from the top shelf. My request(s) have gone unaddressed. Kindly ask that they put the bottles on the bottom, and the cans on the top. It is a nuisance to ask for help retrieving a case of Ultra every time I purchase. read more

While there are savings to be had, we often experience disappointment BJ's in Franklin, MA. Sadly, these same issues usually apply to the store in Johnston, RI. Pros: 1. Friendly staff 2. Decent selection 3. Good deals on sale items Cons: 1. Frequently out of broiled chickens. A reason we go is to get something quick for dinner. Too often, they are 30+ minutes from being ready, and even when the timer goes off, it takes them 10-15 minutes to package them for sale. We leave knowing we need to fix something else tor dinner. - People surround the area in in an unorganized queue spending 10 minutes jockeying for position. Rude people usually make it to the front. - The people processing chickens also man the deli counter, so they are often too busy to work with the broiled chickens. GET THEM HELP!! 2. Gas may not be as cheap as you think. Their advertised prices (maybe at all BJ's??) include the 5 per cent discount by using the BJ's credit card. I get a better deal elsewhere using my Costco Visa card, getting 4% back on gas (5% at Costco.) At $4.50 a gallon, that's 18 cents a gallon I save with the Costco card, making local stations near I-495 MUCH more affordable. The same $4.50 price at Speedway or Gulf is $4.32 with my Costco card. Also, all my other Visa and Discover cards often have 5% quarterly rewards for "gas stations" which usually includes items bought at their attached convenience stores, such as Cumberland Farms, Speedway, Seasons/Nouria, Sheetz, and the awesome Wawa in NJ/PA. 3. Produce, especially bananas & berries, is not as fresh and spoils quicker than produce from major supermarkets. It seems to take a while for buyers from other companies to pass on the merchandise before it winds up at stores like BJ's and Costco. 4. Part of the membership is the gas and free tire air pump use. BJs get the gas station air pump FIXED in a faster time! Each time this pump is broken down it takes months to get fixed! The best stuff you can find in BJ's is clothing . T-shirts,shorts , work pants etc.. all reasonably priced too . Deli is awful , spoiled cold cuts, moldy cheese on not just one occasion. Meat isn't that cheap , you can get meat cheaper and better from Market Basket . And the number 1 bad thing about this place is the fact that they count your items as you leave to make sure they match the receipt which just so happened one day I had one too many items ( the register person didn't scan by the way ) I thought they were going to call the FBI or something, over 1 5$ T shirt. Our membership had expired at the end of the month and we weren't notified until when we were checking out after a shopping trip less than a week after expiring. My boyfriend didn't renew on the spot since he was paying in cash and didn't have enough on him to cover both the shopping trip and the membership. We realized when he got home that we were charged additional fees because the membership was expired. I went to the store a couple days later to renew things. Laurie D had helped me and was so kind and patient. She answered all my questions and was able to renew my membership, offer me savings and even refunded the fees we were charged a few days prior. I had a terrible experience at BJ'S and when I contacted management and informed them of what had transpired, they didn't seem to care. The problem that I experienced was with the gas station attendant at the BJ'S Franklin location. I was having trouble scanning my BJ'S card, and asked the attendant for some help. He was extremely rude and disrespectful. He was very frustrated and annoyed and was very condescending. In a loud frustrated, nasty tone, he said that I told you to hold the card sideways. He had shouted something to me from outside of the entrance to the building that he sits in. I could not understand what he was saying from over a hundred feet away. So, when he approached me, he had a very angry facial expression. I had a very similar experience with the same guy about 9 months prior, and just assumed that he was having a bad day. So I let it go. Well this time he was even worse. I was determined to explain to the store manager what had happened. I called customer service, and explained what had happened. The woman said that she would transfer me to the store manager. I was placed on hold for 5-8 minutes. After this period, I was automatically transferred back to the same woman in customer service. She placed me on hold again. I waited 5-8 minutes again, and was automatically transferred back to her again. She placed me on hold again, and went through the same process again. I finally hung up, and called back hoping to get a different person in customer service. Well, fortunately I did. You'll never guess what happened , she put me on hold again. I finally spoke with someone that was a manager, and told her about my experience. She seemed concerned, but informed me that the store manager wasn't available. She told me that she would speak with the gas station attendant about the incident. She asked for my telephone number, and assured me the store manager would contact me later that day. That was 6 days ago,, and no return call. It's very obvious to me that store management is not concerned about how their employees treat/interact with their customers. There have been other very negative reviews that I have read about similar experiences that other customers have had with the gas station attendant. One of the reviews claimed that this BJ'S employee made a racist comment. Yet this individual is still representing BJ'S. This is unacceptable! read more

However there were a lot more self-service registers than were regular ones with cashiers. Tire Department: today's date 9/9/19 scheduled for a tire installation which we ordered 8/17/19 (takes a long time to be scheduled due to we went on a tax free weekend & saying a lot of people ordered that day). Now I called before going to ask if I could come early since I was around the area (45 minutes before appointment time) nobody answers. So I went anyway. Arrived and the tire employee Tyler said "He couldn't take care of me till my appointment time, someone scheduled to come in and he's waiting for them." If he only answered the phone I wouldn't have come in. So he tells me he couldn't entertain me till my appointment time. So I waited patiently since I 'm already there ( I didn't wanna go back and forth, and if I reschedule, it would take weeks again). My turn came only to tell me that he can not install the tires due to the 2 rear tires model aren't the same as the two he's about to install (rear tires are Michellin XLT and 2 new tires ordered are Michellin Defender) in which Tyler recommended at the time when order was placed. He wants me to order another 2 new tires (if they're not the same it can ruin the transmission and I have to replace it). I had ordered /installed the Michelin XLT the same place and didn't encounter such problem. I decided to refund the money to save me another headache dealing with the same person. I don't recommend their Tire Services. They used to have good & efficient employees but now their customer service is deteriorating. I guess it also reflects on the management. read more

DO NOT USE THEIR GAS! Horrible every time Ive come here, the pumps arent working after you wait and wait to even get to a pump to save maybe 4 cents. Go to the stop and shop gas down the street. This last time after I waited 20 minutes, the ONE attendant they have was out at the pumps helping the line of people because the credit card machine wasnt working as usual. Ah, a whiff of Cali right here in the suburbs of MA. We trotted over here for an errand and I am happy to report that a long lost CostCo twin is alive and happy here. Same layout, lots of different options, and candy aisles spilling out of their cardboard boxes with glee. If I were not here for business, I would have stocked up on dogfood, vegetables and fruit. But since I only had a hotel room to go back to, that left me with little choice, and even though I needed toothpaste, a double barrel version of Colgate's sensitive formula was too big for me to lug around. I'll be back, when my winter stores need to be updated. Close proximity to the freeway as well as surrounding businesses. This is the place to come to to fill up the larders. read more

BJ's can be such a drag, but when going to the Franklin store, the experience is consistently the opposite. This store, sitting by itself, on a deserted parkway at the west corner of town, is home to the only wholesale club for miles, since there is no Costco around. Normally, I would have thought a location as such would be a death sentence, since the question would really be, how would people even know they were there? Then again, this place always keeps enough customers to stay afloat, and since there isn't any competition, those who do want to find a wholesale club must search for it! What's great about this BJ's is that it is updated, new, and never has lines. It actually is so lovely walking to checkout and not having to wait in any line whatsoever. I live near BJ's in Dedham and frequent that store, which I also like, but is thousands of times more busy than this store. Even though I have given them a high rating on Yelp, due to the fact that it isn't BJ's specific fault for having a high volume of customers, it's just more enjoyable to come here. Plus, what more can the Dedham store do if they have all 25 registers open! Stock is always consistent here and they are never out of things and the layout isn't confusing and weird. Food and health and beauty is on one side of the store, the seasonal stuff is in the middle of the store (as is books, DVD's, and such) and the tech area, appliances, household cleaners, toiletries and other such items are on the far right side of the store. Staff are friendly at both checkout and customer service. Either way, if you don't want to, you don't have to deal with any of them (self checkout for eternity!). 5 stars for this BJ's. read more

I was extremely happy with the service my in-laws received when asking them to buy a tv for me to give my husband for Fathers Day. Russell, the store manager, went above and beyond to accommodate them. I called to speak with him bc I wanted a specific brand and size, and they couldn't find the size I was looking for in that brand. After our pleasant conversation, he ended up finding them something better @ the price point we were looking for. He was patient and kind. I love this place, every time I go there I end up saving a lot of money by buying BUNDLES. Yesterday I got to the checkout line (10 Items or less) and there was a young girl who asked for my Bj's Card. I told her I did not have it on me, so instead of searching through the system for 20 minutes and making me and my daughter wait in line, she simply scanned one sitting on her register. Honestly, If you wanna buy in bulk - this is the place for you!! they have everything in bulk! you need 14 razors? you got it!? Wanna buy 30 gallons of trail mix? come here, too! There are free food samples sometimes and you can get books here too, not that i read. The store even has bunk beds and trampolines. The only downfall of this place is that there is too much to look at and without fail, my father wanders away from me every time. I need to go up and down every aisle to try and find the guy. This Franklin, MA location is my local store. I have made many purchases here as a happy member, but a recent one stands out for Excellent Service and Support. A laptop which I wanted wasn't in stock, and I arranged with the manager to purchase the floor model. However, the BJ's display software was installed: the laptop wouldn't start with a standard PC/Windows system (I'm sure this is for BJ's safety). A very helpful technical staffer, Brandon Caron, and the Front Manager patiently uninstalled the BJ advertising and set the laptop back to factory standards. Great team work! I like this location because typically there are short to no lines at the checkout. The deli, however, is a nightmare. I usually just grab the presliced packages of meat and cheese. It takes forever to get waited on here , even if there are only a couple of people ahead of you. It seems they have one person that caters strictly to the kiosk orders no matter how many people are standing in front of them....this doesn't seem efficient to me. I ordered a playset (playground) online at bjs.com. I assumed that everything would be fine as I consider bjs to be reliable and care about customer satisfaction. Well, I was wrong. The contractor that BJs trusts to interact with their customers is TERRIBLE. They installed the wrong part, the ladder was crooked and was not level on the ground. It took literally TWO months of non stop phone calls to that contractor to get them to come out and fix their mistakes that they admitted to. Two times when they were supposed to show up they didn't. The first reason was because a part was on back order. The next excuse was that they didn't have my address. I ordered the playset in March 2014. The playset was finally fixed on June 20, 2014. I'm still waiting for BJs to compensate me for delivery and installation. I should've purchased and installed it myself - ANYTHING would've been better than ordering it through bjs. SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT. I paid a premium for premium service and what i got was the worst customer service experience I think i've ever been through. Buyer beware. read more
