I have developed quite a liking for BJ'S over the years. Why the low rating? BJ'S has alot of great stuff. It isn't that much different than Costco and I like Costco too. Both places are pretty cool. What BJ's offers that I really love are great deals on clothes. Not only do they have many cute tops and plenty of leggings but they have really nice Skorts. I have bought so much from here because not only are the prices really reasonable but their stuff is really cute as well and the quality is good. The only thing I don't like is how crowded it gets but that can't be helped. I actually think I like them better than Costco. read more

BJ's in Stratford is conveniently located around 8 minutes from the beach. It's great if you need to pick up some snacks or drinks for the beach. You may also pick up your grocery essentials on the way home. I usually frequent any BJ's because they offer the best prices on gas, this BJ's doesn't offer gas at all. They also don't sell tires. This is a bit of a let down. Other than that, you'll find everything you may need for your grocery or home needs. You may even find a gazebo or new flat screen TV. I noticed the people working at the deli are a lot faster and more organized than the ones at my local BJ's. BJ's is a club you need to be a member to shop at their stores. read more

Horrible. Bought an AC with my dad, ended up not needing it, so I brought it back with the receipt. They wouldn't take it back unless I have my dad present w me even though it was purchased with my credit card. Now I have to load this heavy ac back in the car , take it home and come back when my dad is not working. What a waste of time !!! Costco would never pull this off read more

These guys just don't know how to run a store. I tried to get glasses, shop is closed on monday. Went again on Tuesday, would not accept perscription from MD. Went again on Thursday, cash register receipt would not print. Door attendant could not read it so would not let me leave. NEVER GOING BACK TO BJS AGAIN!!! read more

I had a wonderful experience at the BJ's in Strafford Chris and Roberto from the front lines were able to assist me in my knees it's very hard for me to get around right now because my foot is fractured into places therefore they were able to do price checks and a couple other things that I was not able to do. No liquor store in this BJs warehouse. Parking lot was large and lots of parking available. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Always disappointed at this location about the customer service, especially the customer service desk (ironic)! Most of the time they are rude and not helpful, which is a lot of the reason why I avoid this location. Specifically last week I came to fill my propane tank early evening and the service lady said come back in 25 minutes when the person who does it gets back from break or wait. Crazy to have only one person who can do this at such a huge store and expect me to wait this long. No thanks! But she was also rude which is why I'm bothered. read more

This is in regards to the bakery department. I have gotten two custom cakes here. One was for my wedding it was a two tiered cake. it was all buttercream frosting and golden cake (pictured) The other was a half sheet of marble and chocolate mouse filling for my two children's baptism. Both cakes were picked up day before my event and stored in the fridge overnight. They were not dry and were SO DELICIOUS. The customer service is lacking or non-existent for the most part when your there in person. Forget the phone. Thats been nearly impossible. The deli is the draw for me but many times you get someone who is slower than your great grandmother. The line can be a nightmare. Sometimes you take a number and sometimes you don't. I see other area BJ's are experiencing poor ratings as well. I guess that's where we are today. You put up with it because you can save money on some things. Especially if you have a large family. Well it took me over a year of living here in CT before I broke down and spent the $45 yearly fee to join BJ. It was money well spent. I now buy most everything in bulk. I store extra stuff in the basement and I am all set for any disaster or hyper-inflation. It makes sense to buy stuff in bulk now before the prices go up later, even if we don't get hyper-inflation we always get inflation between %4 to %5 per year. I like the store for most items except for produce. I go to Trader Joe's for produce they taste better and fresher there. They have nice cloths with low prices - they are designer brands (can't beat that). OK I am so lazy. I meant to write this review for the Fairfield BJ's store but I didn't find it so I am just going to let this fly. It shouldn't matter which BJ's because they are related. I go to the BJ's in Black Rock/ Fairfield, but I am certain the Stratford store is the same. Bottomline, get the membership you'll save yourself a lot of money and have a nice supply of food and items. Bring your own bags. You can use coupons there too and save even more money. Sign up at the store directly and they give you coupons worth a lot (I forgot the amount because I didn't sign up at the store). You can even buy mattresses and tires there. They have stuff that the regular stores don't have. It's a very international type store so it's fun to shop in. I feel like I am in a different country (cheap vacation). read more

If i ever need anything in bulk and at a great price, this is the place i go. It has pretty much anything i would ever need along with some extras. You can buy anything from food to TV's, and all at a great price. Before its Stratford store opened up my family and i went to the one in Fairfield, and in my opinion, this one is MUCH better. There's also a small Verizon wireless stand inside which can be convenient, the place itself is huge and kept nice and clean. The parking lot is huge with plenty of parking. read more

Very nice selection overall. Helpful staff and quick checkouts. This bjs club is always packed. Meat department although a little pricey is very well organized and the meat is worth the price. Cold cut department is very large and well staffed I frequent this bjs even though I live closer to the derby store because this bjs has a much better selection and the staff is on point. read more

Huge shout out to the staff at BJ's in Stratford for saving dinner tonight! I purchased a petite filet of beef costing just under 14.00 , and of course didn't notice until I was home unpacking my purchases that I had left it behind , by this time the store had closed but I figured I would give them a call and when nobody answered I hopped in my car and drove down there with my receipt and the gentleman Harold who was bringing the carriages back inside was a huge help contacting inside the store where the manager Chris was kind enough to look for the item and when he wasn't quite sure what he was looking for, allowed me inside to show him and then he was able to find my original purchase .considering it was after hours they went above and beyond when they could've just turned me away and I can't thank them enough! read more

I would like to give this BJ's not even one star. I will never go to this BJ's again. I believe this store does not believe in employee's because employees cost money. This establishment must believe that more money can be made by having self checkout. If you are a customer with a fully loaded cart, do you want to go through putting every item in your cart through a self scanner that sometimes does scan properly. NO! I want someone that can help me, not a machine! After waiting at least 20 minutes in a line (2 cashiers only active the rest were self checkout) I gave it up! Left the fully loaded cart for BJ's to put away. There was no manager to notice the line was not moving. This is a continuing issue with this store and is the second time that I've left my cart. Not only have I wasted my TIME at BJ's but I had to go shopping elsewhere. From now on it's Costco all the way. At least they believe that customers are their priorities! read more

I really like this BJ's over the one in Fairfield because they seem to have more. This BJ's has a huge deli and rotisserie chicken and turkey which the Fairfield club doesn't have. I also like the layout of the BJ's in stratford. It seems larger and easier to get around to find what you need. The only downside is that they don't have the liquor store that the Fairfield club has. read more

With a family BJ's is a must! I buy the laundry soaps, juices, pampers, kids clothes, and the seasonal selection of toys, gifts and household needs is fantastic. I love being able to use the BJ's coupons and regular coupons on the same product for double savings on a bulk sized item. (Ex. Pantene Shampoo and Conditioner pack - BJ's $2 cpn and then additional $1 flyer coupon and it will last for months) I have also bought a solid wood tv stand, a kids bunkbed set and a Vizio LCD tv all for great prices. If your kids attend a local school there is likely a BJ's rep that will donate part of your membership fee to the school and provide you a discounted rate and extension membership. Ask a PTA leader for help, I paid $35 for a 15 month membership and supported my son's school in doing so. read more

The associates are fine..but seems like a huge turnover ..never the same people in the fresh deli dept. I am a Costco always member (27yrs) but I also add B.J.'s to my shopping destinations. While Costco has a more organized place..B.J.'s totally has it over them for variety..there is no comparison..B.J.'s selection of items is probably a thousand times more. Costco will offer 3 brands of shampoo..B.J.'s will have 20. and this goes for all products and all foods..and one thing that is frustrating..don't get used to any food item at Costco because most likely you'll never see it again..at B.J.'s that does not seem to happen so often. Checkout here however is a pain..they prefer to not hire cashiers so by far most of the checkout is self-checkout...and many times there is only 1 cashier and a very long line. IN the summer months that causes a problems with your frozen or refrigerated items..especially ice cream. I think the other big difference is the snack bar...Costco's long standing food offers that everyone loves..means the snack bar is always packed..like a treat for shoppers at the end of an overspending adventure. I would give B.J.'s a 5 if they had quickers checkout for their customers. read more

First they wanted to know if I had been a member before and I said yes but a very long time ago (15 years or more). They checked their computer and didn't find me. I am usually a positive person. If I could give BJ's 0 stars today I would. I order several pies for the poor people we are making Thanksgiving baskets for. I get to the store, they lost the order. NO PIES FOR ME. A lady working in the bakery, spends a bit of time looking for some for me. I waste time but I get the pies. Ask to speak to a manager, he sort of brushes me off about it. Stand in line for quite awhile, pay for the pies. Start to walk out, lady checking at door says I only paid for 9 pies and I have ten. Look at me like I stole them. Says I HAVE to pie for the other pie. Tells me I have to get in the same long line I just get out of. I tell her no because I have wasted so much time already. She tells me WELL, I AM GOING TO TAKE YOUR PIE FROM YOU! She took the pie, I am now short one pie. I go to a local bakery and purchase one. Just tried to call the store and NO ONE will answer at customer service. I tried 5 times, each time the line goes dead. What a horrible waste of time in a second rate store. Bj's great place to save some money. There is a membership fee that last you for about a year. Don't remember what I paid but I think its in one of the other reviews. Worth it I would say definitly worth the mebership. You can come off saving a lot of money shopping here but you also can end up spending a lot of money here as well. Because. Mostly everything you purchase here will be in bulk so if you big on snacks and junk foods I would be wary of your purchaisng here or brining the kids with you when you shop. I like to purchase my cosmetics here and I aslo shop here for my meats. They sell them in bulk and for realy cheap prices compared to your local super markets. They also have electronics,tires jewlery and even send coupons to members every month. Great place to save money clean place inside and good service. read more

Not sure why this BJ's is separated from the rest of the BJ's on Yelp. Anyway, I love BJ's. Some stuff is pricey but you cant beat the produce, the cold cuts, the books etc. I was a vendor in this store and I can vouch that this store is also clean as can be in the back room as it is on the floor. I did go to Costco in Milford once to see what all the hype was. I found it dirty looking and in disarray. I would never go back there. I will stick with the Stratford BJ's especially because I love the variety of stuff and like I said that store is one of the cleanest stores I have been too. read more

Someone should teach BJ's Deli employees how use their slicing machines properly. Try ordering a thin sliced cold cut. One end comes out thin and the other end emerges four times as thick, no uniformity whatsoever. The employees think by exerting pressure on the machine they'll complete their task faster. In reality they're only giving your an uneven piece of meat. The simple remedy would be to tell the employee let the machine do the slicing without overly pushing the meat. It may take a little longer but would result in a satisfied customer. read more
