Frustrated by this assessment, I decided to take the car home and complete the repair myself. Using a jack in my driveway, I was able to finish the job in about 3 hours, spending under $125 on parts and $200 on an alignment, plus my own labor, total cost, $325 plus my labor. This experience highlights the importance of finding a trustworthy service provider. Don't fall victim to overcharging--always get a second opinion if something doesn't seem right.

He was candid enough to tell us that the car wasn't worth fixing and that we'd be better off trading it in for something else. So he could've made money off of us.
