My husband and I stayed here for about a week. The rooms are small, simple and clean. It's perfect if you just plan to sleep in the hotel. The neighborhood is awesome, with a mixture of Puerto Rican,Dominican community with a dash of gentrification. The free breakfast is a nice addition, but we never made it in time for breakfast (7am-930am), so we eat at J.K and Son's deli around the corner, which has breakfast all day. Plenty of dive bars that are walking distance and the train station is also down block. The M train takes you to the city and the J train take you to the Lower Eastside, which is where Chinatown and Little Italy. Had an amazing trip and I would recommend this hotel, if you want to know how the locals really live in NYC (Brooklyn). read more

Clean, decent hotel with friendly staff. Good for a place to crash in a pinch, and price is awesome. Downside: Walls are paper thin so if you get a family with kids on your floor- buy some earplugs bc you will hear it all in the morning. How could you go wrong when selecting a $100/night a room hotel (plus taxes and charges) on Beaver Street in Brooklyn? Sounds like a dream to me. I've stayed in lots of cheap places & this place tops the list. Location was great with easy on street parking, super walkable to several show venues (I was there for a show at Elsewhere). Check in was smooth, the room is minimal but efficient. The beds are much cozier than expected at this price point. I ended up staying here coming in for business during fashion week when all the hotel prices were overwhelmingly jacked up. Very good hole in the wall place extremely convenient to the J train. The room was clean and the staff was very accommodating. My only complaint was the elevator is slow and the breakfast ends at 9am; rather early for my taste. I thought the BKLYN House hotel was good but not great. It is in a bit of a rough-ish area. (Not really bad but not great either). There's lots of stores around it but it's a bit far from the bar/club scene. It was about a 10 minute walk from the nearest subway station. The hotel gives off a very hipster and minimalist vibe. The front desk is very friendly. The room was decent and cozy and upon entering, it smells very lemony fresh. There was a small stain on one of the towels. I felt that the hotel was more expensive than it was worth. We were a group of 4 who rented one room with double beds at a rate of $300/night. Granted, it was a Saturday night, but I felt that it wasn't anything special. Overall I wouldn't not stay here again but it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

We needed a place to stay in Brooklyn for a concert at Barclay. We were hoping for Williamsburg but the prices were crazy. I got a deal for BKLYN House. At first skeptical, as this neighborhood seems a bit rough. But after walking around it was fine. I even found some free street parking. The rooms are basic, but not terrible. People seem to post the rooms are small... these people have never stayed in Manhattan then. Everything was clean and we had a comfortable stay. There is a free breakfast, but it was so busy we couldn't sit through it. The seating area needs some work. You can't move a chair once you sit down. Overall I would recommend. read more

I really enjoyed my stay here. The rate was great and reviews were mixed so I wasn't sure about what I was getting myself into, but "Hey, it's only one night." Staff was not the friendliest at the front desk but not mean either (typical New Yorker style) . We got one night's stay with a Queen bed. The room was more spacious than a Manhattan typical hotel room. The area isn't the best but we were able to find street parking for free (always a plus). It was my first time staying in a hotel with hardwood floors and I felt more comfortable walking around with then in a typical carpeted hotel room. It is a minimalist urban room. The bed is bolted to the floors and wall (great idea). No fridge is the room (to be expected) but they do have 24/7 coffee, tea and juice machine access in the breakfast room. The free breakfast had waffles, boiled eggs, toast, and yogurt. I didn't see any fresh fruit so I was disappointed at that. My other complaints would be the lack of a shower door( Hmmm---) and the noisy neighbor party outside or window, which we could hear very loud and clearly through our shut windows. read more

Just completed a disaster stay at BKLYN HOUSE. The highlights: - Housekeeping was the worst I've experienced in over a decade. In 4 nights they came by once with towels and sheets. - Management was extremely unhelpful and rude. I had an expensive item stolen from the lunch room and the staff made no effort at all to help. - In a hotel with eight floors, a working elevator would be nice. It was under construction contestantly during our stay and I found out from the staff they had just hired a cheaper repair company. This company's service men did not speak English and showed up without proper tools. - Breakfast was included in the price of the stay. One day the breakfast person didn't show up. We had to beg the hotel staff to open things so the customers could set up as much breakfast for ourselves as we could. All in all, massively overpriced for how bad the stay was. I have to talk about the unprofessional, condescending lack of customer service skills my fiance and I got from the young black man at the front desk. We made a reservation on line from a certain time of the day and it was confirmed. The young unprofessional changed the reservation and checked us in when we kept trying to tell him that wasn't our reservation day or time and that we would not be checking in for the time he was setting us up for. When we walked out of course we get the notification the card was charged. We went back inside to ask why if we weren't staying, he lied and said it was a pre paid offer. It was not because the reservation was only to hold the room. But then he just waved me off as I began to tell him it was his doing. I was really disgusted with his behaviour. I stayed here for three nights last week , june 11-14, after having to rebook in an emergency after a nearby hotel canceled my ereservation with two days warning, I am very familiar with the area because I grew up in it and while it seems " sketchy" perhaps to out of towners, because of all the gentrification surrounding it and the hospital it is probably a lot safer than walking around times square. I feel as if people are quick to say that because the neighborhood is old and dirty and the people are more ethnic than out of towners might expect when they think of the more glamorized Brooklyn they have been reading about in Vogue magazine. My room was very clean, and smelled clean and fresh as did the rest of the hotel. The elevator was working , though it was bit slow and squeaky,we never had any issues with it.staff was helpful and polite and alays available if needed.My bed was very clean and comfortable, and the room was very minimaloist yet functional, with a european vibe, Our room has a small fridge and a long counter areas with shelves which had hanging areas, which served as closet, which i loved because it was easy to gather your belongings and not leave anything behind upon check out. My boyfriennd and i slept really well, and i never heard the elevated train which was two blocks away. I did hear a little bit of the neighbors activity in the morning, mostly the opening and closing of doors, but no more than the usual hotel. I heard nothing at night and I am a very light sleeper Breakfast was the above average continental breakfast but be there early as I encountered lots of other guests who seemed to think they were at an ihop and were a bit greedy gobbling up more than they should,before showering.): I had clean Towels and my bed was made every night , so i'm n ot quite sure what te other guests were referencing.The price i paid was perfect for what i got. It is a basic hotel for non prima primadonnas who want a nice clean place to sleep and quick access to the j or m train which is a 10- 15 minute ride from Manhattan.There are plenty of places nearby to eat and buy necessary things and there is also a pharmacy nearby should you need it. *****My only suggestion for management would be , for the accessible room (708 I believe ) which I stayed in is that there would be some division or seal added to the shower stall in there because the floor did get very wet and in time may damage the floor, the towel mat was soaked every time i showered , and I tried not to wet it at all,because I know how heavy a stack of wet towels can be for housekeeping to gather, If you need fancy and think you're royalty dont stay here and give it a bad review because as someone who was in the hotel business for 14 years I had no issues with it, aside from the above mentioned. This hotel is one of my guilty pleasures of Gentrification (Let me explain). As a home grown New Yorker I have been to the craziest parts of Ny and this hotel used to be located in one of the craziest parts but now that white people have invaded Brooklyn the neighborhood has honestly a new appearance. It's homely, adorable, the people who work the front desk was nice as hell, and the rooms were nice sized. The beds felt like heaven yet the breakfast sucked lol. Beautiful, modern building by Broadway Ave, nice and clean inside, colorful, with some good aesthetic. Service personnel was nice and approachable. Rooms were decent size, everything was clean, beds were very comfy, and breakfast (included) was simple but good (eggs, waffles, bread, bagels, croissants, muffins, English muffins, fruit, juice, yogurt etc). Rate was reasonable for a double bed room. Only reason we deduct 1 star: fridge was not working inside room (room 303) and neither was the hair dryer. When we got back to the hotel at about midnight in the freezing cold, the night receptionist was gone. He had put up a sign that he was going to be back in five minutes. Too bad for us as we tried to enter through the front door with our electronic room keys with which the door would open, but could not go in because the receptionist had turned off the function while he was absent. So we stood in the cold with no way of getting in or making someone aware of us, and no bell to notify the personnel. Called the phone number - but the receptionist phone rang and of course no one picked up. Please fix these small things, we had such a great stay besides that. I understand that you don't want your front door to be unlocked if there is no receptionist holding watch, but the only access is through the room keys (card), so why would you shut that off and not let your own guests enter? read more

This hotel could be great, but it was built as a low-budget option and it shows. The room across from me was blaring music at 3am and no one at the front desk would answer when I called to let them know. The beds are like sleeping on cots with hospital pillows. And the walls are just too damn thin. I heard everything happening on my floor during my entire stay... things I really didn't need to hear. Love this hotel! Have stayed 3 times this year so far. Everything excellent for the most part. Even glitches are handled pretty quickly like broken elevator, TVs not always working properly. Noticed that the Staff is changing a bit each visit, but all willing to please from Desk, to Housekeeping, to Maintenance, to the Breakfast staff. Even the Guests are all wonderful and friendly. So many International. My rooms have always been very clean and quiet. On my most recent visit I had an unexpected extended stay at the hotel because of my flight home that got cancelled twice so I spent an extra 3 nights. The Staff could not have been nicer and accomodating in my plight and stress. I could not imagine staying anywhere else when I come to town to visit my Daughter and Grandbaby. Absolutely would not recommend this place to anyone. I called at 2:36pm in regards to my rings that I accidentally left in the bathroom on the sink. The receptionist stated that he would speak to a manager about it. He took down my name and number and stated that the manager would call me back. Two hours passed so I decided to go over to the place 4:45 pm Dario Carvajo stated that he had entered the room right after we left and there weren't rings in the room. When asked who cleaned the room he said Yadira Martinez cleaned the room at 11:00am. I asked him when did he enter the room, his response what that he entered the room anywhere between 10:15 and 10:50... He wasn't hesitant to provide the housekeepers name. Until I asked him for the exact check out time which was 10:51. When asked what was his name he responded "you can see it right there" as his land yard covered his name when asked "Yadira Martinez correct?" He said "I don't know now" I asked for the contact information for his manager and he refused to provide the information. read more

We spent five nights in this hotel. It was spotlessly clean. The beds were really comfortable. The staff was wonderful - helpful and responsive to our needs. They delivered a blow dryer and LOTS of towels We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast in the company of many international travelers. As of recent, I had to stay in Brooklyn for business. It was decent and fit the need, nothing glam. This place definitely echos through the hallways and I did NOT stay on the 1st floor as a previous reviewer had mentioned about the noise. I WARN newbies and ECHO what has been previously shared on Yelp that the "incidental" fee was not returned to me upon checkout. When using a debit card for the $100 hold, not only did they not release the funds but BKLYN House charged my account a $2.00 "ATM" fee, WTF? Needless to say I looked at my bank account and AS OF TODAY 1/5/18 I am still waiting for the "RELEASE" of funds. For the record; the Front Office Mgr was professional enough to snap a foto of the transaction and send me confirmation yet the previous hotel contact gave me a verbal and a letter to send to the bank (which I found very strange since the transaction needs to be release from them). If you are in need of a stay for a brief night go for it, but do not expect it to be a quiet night no matter what floor you stay on. Clean, which thank God I was glad to see! Just sayin' read more

You know what. For what it is, BKLYN House was a great "budget hotel for millenials". Nicely decorated, easy to book on booking.com. The only bummer was there's not a lot to walk to. We ended up having to Uber most places since the immediate neighborhood seems to be a little on the outskirts of where the action is. Breakfast: good. Standard stuff. The staff was very helpful and made my waffle for me! Coffee is folgers :/ Room: great decor. Everything was clean and fresh. Make sure to put the sign on your door if you want your bed made. Staff: super great and helpful! Parking: free street parking or a garage a little bit away. All in all I'd probably book again if were ever in Brooklyn again! read more

This place is a homeless shelter disguised as a 'cheap' affordable hotel. This is below par compared to any other low class, low quality hotel. Not even free water or mini bar in the rooms. The floors aren't finished and neither was the shower! The shower was not closed in, without a shower door! If you have to take a shower, water will flood the room. The bed was hard and sheets were rough, just like you'd find in a shelter. It's just an all around terrible choice for a stay in Brooklyn (not to mention the area is one of the crappiest and unsafe areas in Bushwick). The worst of it is not what I've mentioned. The worst part is the staff. When I 'attempted' to check in, the man behind the counter kept giving me rooms people were staying in! Essentially, I woke up several customers just trying to get into a room. Then the man said they were full and I had to wait 3 hours to get a room. This is already after I had paid and gotten confirmation! I waited in the lounge, which is the only area there is any kind of computer wi-fi connection, which is crappy as well. I waited as the other staff members seemed to get annoyed, being that there were plenty of rooms available but did not want to interrupt the guy behind the counter who appeared to be working on some kind of hotel records. I then, asked a staff member if he could give me a room already, for a quick tip. He complied as he took cash from me and brought me to a vacant room. (REAL PROFESSIONAL HUH?) After that, re-read the 1st paragraph for a description of the room's failure to live up to any adequate hotel stay. I'd also like to mention, that there is no sound proofing to these rooms, don't expect to get any sleep and if you manage to, be prepared to wake up whenever the sun rises, since they use cheap cotton curtains that block nothing from the outside. Overall, this is a con-artist hotel posing as a hip Brooklyn spot. I will never go here again, don't recommend anyone does and if I had knew, I would have slept in my car or went to an actual homeless shelter. Very disappointing to say the least... read more

We needed to check in early and probably were not gonna stay the night but they were not accommodating. When I made the reservation I made it clear we needed to check in before 3pm. TRAVELERS BEWARE!! The whole operation is a scam. I booked this hotel on booking.com before my arrival in Brooklyn on a Thursday. I had a couple of things to do prior to checking in, therefore I didn't arrive to the hotel until around 10 pm. No issue right? Because usually when you reserve a hotel, receive a confirmation, and payment is processed on your credit card, that means your room has been booked and should be ready for you when you check in. Apparently, that's not how it works in Brooklyn, NY. I arrived at the hotel only to be told that my room is no longer available. I was told by the hotel staff that "the reservation does not reserve a room in the hotel, it puts you on a waiting list" the hotel staff also stated, " check-in was a 3 pm, it's 10. you should have been here earlier". Did I mention that I was not the only person being subjected to this foolishness? There were about 4 other parties that also did not get a room that they paid for. One of the parties actually arrived before check-in time (his room was not ready), left his bags with the hotel to go explore Brooklyn only to come back and they tell him that there's no room for him! lol, it's actually laughable. So at this point, we are all in the lobby upset and trying to figure out our next steps when the hotel receptionist announces that there is a sister hotel, The Artel. (its a hostel) She says "there are some rooms left there, they know you're coming" When asked how many rooms are available, she could not verify. So I asked her, "are you telling us we have to race to the hotel". she basically shrugs as if to say, 'yes, you should'. To recap, I paid for a room at a hotel, I did not receive the room. They said I could not get a refund, however, I should race to the sister hotel to maybe get a bed (remember, the artel is a hostel). So I head to The Artel, you guessed it, there are no rooms/beds available. What's even funnier is that the receptionist at the Artel was really unaware of the folks that were coming over from Brooklyn House. He says "I don't know anything about this, and I don't know why they keep sending people here when they know there are no rooms" Great. so not only is this a regular occurrence but instead of telling us there at Brooklyn house that there is nothing more to be done, you wasted more time by making us go to another hotel where you know there's no space available. It's after midnight at this point, and I'm basically homeless in Brooklyn. My suggestion is to skip the small boutique hotels and opt for an Airbnb or pay extra for a reputable chain hotel because it's giving scam. Literally, the receptionist at the Brooklyn house at one point in response to our complaints shrugged and said "this is Brooklyn" lol. That told me all I needed to know. read more

I stayed here on a work trip. The best part was the A/C and how nice the staff and housekeeping team were. They were very accommodating and polite. I wound up changing my reservation and they handled it easily with no fuss. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was nice. My only complaint would be the spotty wifi which they said occurred because I had a room far from the elevator (which I requested). The hotel room was cleans and comfy. However i was displeased with the integrity of the cleaning staff which is why I have to give this place a negative review . I left my Fitbit watch by mistake while rushing to leave on Sunday after my stay . I literally called the hotel a couple hours after I left and my item was " not found " in my room. I travel frequently for work and i sometimes leave things behind accidentally . sometimes I don't notice it immediately as I did in this case . When I contact other hotels sometimes weeks after visiting they are always able to locate my belong left behind . So although this place was clean . I have very mix feelings about my stay here. Upon my arrival I went to check in and I was charged $112 more than what I was quoted on bookings.com. I booked my stay last week but apparently they had some new policy changes two days before my reservation. I never got any email to notify me of the changes or I wasn't told about the $100 fee. I think that was very unfair. I think my original price should've been upheld. The man at the desk also didn't handle the situation properly at all. He didn't even apologize for the inconvenience. He didn't seem to even care that he put me in an uncomfortable situation. He had a "oh well not my problem" type of attitude. It was very off putting and I think he needs more training on his professionalism and demeanor. What if I didn't have the extra money to pay for my stay? That would have put me in a bind and I don't appreciate that at all. I think the hotel needs to do a better job at giving all information to the customer so they aren't given surprises at check in. Also the fridge in the room isn't really a fridge. The bed wouldn't stop squeaking. Oh my goodness. I couldn't sleep because every move me or my partner made the bed squeaked. Couldn't roll over or make a move without the loud squeaking. The shower has no door or a curtain, just an approx. foot wide glass. Also there's no do not disturb signs. I think this hotel has potential to be really decent but lots of changes need to be made. The bed is quite comfortable. I think that was the only good thing about my stay besides free breakfast.
