First, we miss our Black Angus on Watt Ave near Arden way Sacramento. We live near there but we took an Uber to the Black Angus on Greenback to meet with family, and enjoy Black Angus again, yesterday Sunday, August 30. The food was ok, my Shrimp was good. Why I am on here is the very bad condition of the ladies bathroom. Both my daughter and my grand daughter, at different times came back from the bathroom with bad reviews, it was so dirty, and there was an odd mention of chairs in the room, and it just felt weird. Now, both of these women are slow to complain, they are reserved, no loud words, just quiet comments about the dirty bathroom. It wasn't that busy , in fact we often saw 2-3 employees standing around talking or watching one of the many noisy TV screens all going at the same time. This was NOT the high quality of the Black Angus we all remember. As we were leaving, there were 3 employees standing at the exit, one probably the manager. I almost told them to go clean the bathroom but we wanted to leave. What a disappointment, our family always loved Black Angus. We were craving steak and were in the area, so decided to give it a try. The inside is very spacious with lots of booths and tables. We were seated in a booth and we loved the high booth. It felt very private and with the little ones it was especially nice. We decided on the 2 people for $69, and paid a little more for the prime rib. It came with an appetizer, 2 entrees with 2 sides, and a dessert. Everything came out a little at a time. The kids meals came out fairly early which is always great. Our soup came last and we had to remind our server about them. Food was pretty decent. Steaks were cooked how we wanted them. Soups were hearty and warm, and potatoes were cooked well. The calamari was crispy and we liked the sweet chili sauce that came with it. The red velvet cheesecake was ok, nothing too special. The kids meals came with ice cream so they definitely enjoyed that. Service was wonderful. Our waiter was busy but attentive. The zucchini appetizer was really good, thinly breaded and deep fried to perfection. The salad was good if you enjoy iceberg lettuce, i believe it came straight from the refrigerator because the plate and fork were both ice cold! Overall, it was OK. I'm not sure if we'd revisit or not. My only complaint and it's legitimate was the woman washing her hair in the ladies restroom. We have dined at this restaurant for many years. The food has been consistently good, although the portions have diminished. The staff is friendly. However, we have noticed that the restaurant is in very bad repair. The waiting room chair/ bench upholstery is slit and torn in many places; some of the torn areas have been taped. Terrible first impression!!! Upon entering both the bar and dining areas, the seating in the booth areas is similar. There are so many cracked areas that the customer will end up being scratched on their legs while sitting. The cushioning is so old that one sinks low. The table surfaces are blemished. The rug looks dirty and stained. The entire interior of the restaurant needs to be refreshed and modernized. Everybody's standards can vary so we authorize our government to set a general level that we all can agree on. This is the role of the Restaurant Health Inspector. I want to be fair, but I also think customers deserve to know when there appears to be a REPEATED food-safety pattern. According to Sacramento County health inspectors, Black Angus on Greenback Lane in Citrus Heights was RED-CARDED on March 2, and then again on June 23, 2026. The reported violations included rodent droppings in multiple areas, cockroach activity, improper food storage, and sanitation concerns. The restaurant was reinspected the next day and reopened with a green card. My concern is not just one inspection. My concern is the repeated nature of the problem. If a restaurant is closed for rodents, roaches, and sanitation problems, then later has another closure or serious pest-related inspection issue, that raises a fair question: was the underlying problem truly corrected, or was it only cleaned up enough to pass the follow-up inspection and get a green card? A green placard means the restaurant passed that inspection. It does not erase the history. Repeated pest and sanitation issues should matter to customers, especially when choosing where to spend their money and where to eat. We've actually been coming here for years but I finally remembered to review. Came here today, on a Sunday, for my birthday lunch with my family. It was myself, my husband and my parents. We arrived when they opened and got a large booth. They have a new (to me) brunch menu and my husband ordered the Deviled Eggs & Country fried steak from that menu. I had the ribeye with asparagus and French fries, and my parents got the campfire feast for 2. We also had the calamari strips as an appetizer and the bread was delicious as usual. Food- delicious, the calamari strips were so good, all calamari no tentacles! Ribeye was cooked perfectly and was seasoned, simple. Service - Jaclyn was our server and she was great, she came to check on us enough times and refills were fast. This location has been here forever. It was a date night place for me in the 90's. The inside still looks exactly the same along with the gross tacky pink bathroom. Have not been here since my last review in 2018. We were on our way to Mongolian BBQ up the street for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and it occurred to me how long its been so we made detour. I didn't think they would have any lunch specials on the weekend but they did have some brunch items that I did not try. Their entrees are pricey $30 avg and I didn't want to spend that much for lunch so we got appetizers. They still have the wagon wheel sampler! and the same sweet brown molasses bread. Hubs ordered the cheesy garlic bread with steak and I got the surf and turf quesadilla while we shared the potato wedges. The steak was way overcooked on both our meals. The $7 wedges were dry, hardly any cheese. Hubs actually passed on eating the last one. Our lunch was $45 before tip with no drinks. It was tasty enough to finish my meal but I never said Mmmmnn. Hubs asked me, do you wish we went to Mongolian? I said my appetite does, but was still glad to try them out again. A meal for two here can easily be $80+. My door dash order was a mess and the manager did NOTHING and did not even respond to my email regarding this mess. This is the email I sent with photos and GOT NO REPLY. Sent twice even. I ordered the burger with bad ass onion rings and a root beer. What I got was a cold burger, NO onions rings and an empty cup/lid in the bag. I got a dinner roll and butter, not sure why? I also ordered the chicken/avocado bacon sandwich with side salad and Ranch dressing. I got the chicken sandwich, one piece of bacon and NO avocado. I did not get my side salad with ranch. The absolute topping on this cake is that inside the chicken sandwich you will see there is a wrapper of some kind inside of the sandwich. It was obviously cooked into the sandwich. How in the world does this happen in a nicer restaurant. When I spend 53.00 to have two sandwiches delivered, I would hope they are at least close to what I ordered and edible. This place used to be great. Been going for at least 25 years with friends and family members and never a bad experience or a bad meal. Until recently. First, when you walk in the door, the waiting/lobby area upholstery is dirty, torn up with batting sticking out and taped up in places. Not a good first impression. We were there on a Saturday for lunch with a guest. They seated us in a bar booth with tired and worn out upholstery that looked like it also needed serious cleaning but might not survive one without damage and the carpet also looked pretty bad. Call me paranoid, but when I see a restaurant falling to that level of disrepair, I wonder where else they may be cutting corners? Our waitress might have been new as she did mess up my order. I ordered the petite fillet mignon with baked potato, sour-cream and chives as well as the garlic/herb butter sauce offered on the steak. I know my cuts of beef and thinking maybe she got it wrong (surely they wouldn't do that on purpose?) it was def top sirloin. The sour cream & chives were forgotten and not brought until I was able to ask about it when she finally walked by. Waited another 10 minutes or more for the steak topping, which was not the steak I ordered and in the meantime got cold. Both my baked potato and steak ended up cold. I didn't make a huge stink with staff as we were entertaining guests and their meals were ok. On a plus note, my two dogs appreciated the leftover steak because they don't care about the quality of the cut. If it were just me, it would have been a one-star rating, but the other two meals were ok and the salads were good. However, the worn-out, torn and dirty upholstery were very off-putting. Black Angus used to be a nice, simple but cozy family steak house. Not so now. We also missed the long-time staff of old that had been there for many years. The floor staff were all pretty young and inexperienced. I hope the old regular staff retired and weren't traded out for cheaper labor. It was sad to see. There aren't that many locations in NorCal, maybe only three and two of them are in the Bay Area and the rest are in SoCal. Before this visit our last time in a Black Angus restaurant was in July 2019... in Kissimmee FL! We had a nice dining experience. We had the dinner for two Campfire Feast: - Starter (choose one): Loaded Potato Skins - Entrées (choose two): 12-oz New York Strip and 12-oz RibEye (add'l $6) - Sidekicks (choose four): Garden Salad, Loaded Baked Potato Soup, Mashed Potatoes, Classic Baked Potato - Dessert (choose one): Crème Brûlée Service was great and our table was cleared often of the used plates. I visited this place with a group of friends today while visiting for a conference. I had been craving a steak all weekend and was looking forward to this window of time between sessions. Full transparency, the initial plan was to go to Cattleman's, but they wouldn't be open for some time and our window was small. Upon arriving, they took some time to get us seated even though we made a reservation. It would be another 30 minutes before the server would take our orders. I shared a 2 for $69 special and ordered the ribeye as my entree. For sides, I chose a garden salad and asparagus. The salad was alright but it definitely needed more dressing. The asparagus was hard and really lacked seasoning. The ribeye was a decent size but it also lacked flavor. I didn't enjoy it. I tried another party member's green beans and it was also lacking in flavor and seasoning. Our server seemed irritated from jump. Her demeanor wasn't warm and seemed cold at times. Smiling is not a requirement but it definitely helps- at least during the initial interaction. The restaurant was dusty with cob webs everywhere and looks as if it hasn't been deep cleaned in a while (see photos). I made a reservation for 10 people two weeks in advance. We chose this restaurant specifically because it is typically quiet and allows us to comfortably visit with family. I was surprised to learn that even with a reservation, a half booth could not be guaranteed. We arrived early but still waited past our reservation time. Once seated, we waited quite a while without any acknowledgment from our server. There were also not enough menus or place settings for our party. When she eventually came to the table, we placed our drink orders and let her know we would need the check split three ways. Throughout the evening, her repeated "yeahs" felt unprofessional. Service was consistently slow. Our food took a long time to arrive, water glasses were not refilled, and plates were not cleared promptly. The filet mignons, which were a $7 upgrade on the Campfire Feast, looked more like one-inch-thick top sirloins than filets, which was both disappointing and confusing. To make matters worse, they were out of both the fudge cake and the mud pie, which was especially frustrating since those desserts are part of the Campfire Feast. After two and a half hours, our bills finally arrived, but several items were incorrectly placed on the wrong checks. To add to the frustration, a 3% credit card surcharge was included without clear prior notice. It is 69.00 normally, however I bought a groupon and paid 43.00. We started with a the artichoke dip. It was warm creamy and absolutely delicious. The tortilla chips are made fresh and were also good. My mom ordered filet mignon and I ordered the New York strip. It was cooked perfectly. So juicy and delicious. The asparagus was wonderful and baked potato...mmmmm We shared creme brulee...just delicious... I am definitely coming back. They have specials all the time...happy hour prices...early dinner prices. My husband and I ordered the cowboy which is two meals well worth $69 when you get an appetizer my prime rib, his salmon, delicious bread, four sides and a dessert?!! Not only was the food superb the atmosphere was so nice. The waitress was wonderful and on the table was a $10 off or 15% discount we took advantage of it. Since there are not many of these spots around anymore we came to this one to see what it's like nowadays. The space had a good amount of seating for all types of groups and we did not have to wait. It was a Saturday night and there was a good amount of people in the place. There were 3 of us so we ended up getting a prime rib dinner and the campfire dinner for 2 it started at $69. The campfire dinner included 1 app, 2 entrees, 4 sides and 1 dessert. To start we got the sampler app so we could try a few things but it was $6 extra. It came with 2 potato skins, 4 shrimp cocktail, 4 small boneless Buffalo chicken pieces, and abouy 6 fried zucchini. The fried zucchini was by far the best item but overall the portion was small and we had to ask for dips/sauce. They included brown bread but only one roll so 3 of us handled that pretty quick. I would recommend having more ready or serving 2 as they are not that big. For the side we got fries, mashed potatoes, regular and wedge salad. The wedge was an extra $3 but was definitely better than the regular salad. The other sides were standard. Our entrees were also not impressive. The bbq chicken and ribs were dry. The chicken breast wasn't flavorful and the ribs were overcooked. The bbq sauce that came with the plate was helpful to help enhance the meats. The new york strip was a good size but was not juicy and needed seasoning. The best meat was the prime rib, it was cooked very well and was juicy med rare. We got onion rings with that meal and they were crunchy and delicious. The dessert that came with our meal was the mud pie and that was a hit. I would definitely recommend it everytime.
