Great food and friendly service. Feels like a true local spot with fresh flavors and a welcoming vibe. Definitely worth stopping by!

Great food! Does not disappoint! Service was fast and friendly. The restaurant interior may be outdated, however I get most of my food to go so it doesn't bother me. As long as the food is good it's all good to me. It would be awful if they renovated, and then all the prices went up!

We stopped into Tugboat today for some quick fish and chips. It was a lot bigger inside than I thought it would be, with booths lining the side with windows. Originally it was the painted windows that caught my eye and we're always excited to try a new spot. When I walked in I was greeted right away and I ordered the two fish-fish and chips ($11.99) and some lumpia ($9.99). I snapped some photos as I waited and it was out within five to ten minutes and it was HOT and FRESH! When I got to the car we immediately wanted to try a bite and it was seriously so fresh and hot. After that first bite we decided to let it cool down and all of it was delicious. We'll definitely be stopping by again to try more of the options from the menu, but the fish and chips and lumpia are worth getting again.

Delicious fish & chips! We were filling up our tank at Costco gas when I called around 7:20p to confirm what time they closed. We were told 8:00p. We got done with gas about 10 mins after and headed straight to the restaurant, which was in the same area. The door was unlocked but lights were dimmed. We made our way inside until we saw someone (presumably the owner), he was by himself. He said they were closed even after he confirmed over the phone that he closed at 8:00p. Why the 5-Stars. We left and just as we were about to get inside our car the owner came running out and said he can take our order as long as it's takeout. We gladly said yes and made our way back inside the restaurant. He took our order... 3-piece fish & chips and he proceeded to go to the kitchen. It looked like he has already shut down the kitchen for the evening but he fired it up again to get our order out. We appreciated. It was 8:00p and we just ate inside our car. It was a bit of a challenge but we made it work and no mess LoL! The fish & chips were delicious! Yummy crispy batter and he gave us 2 extra pieces... a total of 5-pieces of cod fish that my hubby and I shared. I love Tugboat's Fish & Chips. The Tugboat closer to our home (#8), closed shop permanently. I'm glad the owner obliged. I was craving! Review #2682

We came here late and almost their closing time. Lol we did that last time too. I get gas at Sam's or Costco so on the way home from our saccharine over load (Cerealism event) we were still hungry. This was not our first choice. Initially we went to and going to eat at a Vietnamese/ Chinese restaurant. (I won't name the restaurant). We waited there only to have them skip us by giving the table that is ready to the ppl behind us so we left. I went to get gas and remembered that we did the same thing early this year. The owner and a manager was the last one the first time. He was closing but took our orders anyway. This time he still have his crew , 3 ladies that were getting ready to go home. They didn't have a closing info on Yelp or anywhere so we assume 9pm, they actually closed at 8:30 and we barely got there. We got our order to go. I guess in a rush they forgot to put salt on the fries. Fish was good though.

For those of you that reside in the Sacramento area, "Tugboat Fish & Chips" are sporadically located all throughout the county. I consider them to be a minor step up from "Long John Silver's" but much of their food has that greasy fair/carnival taste that people love. This takes me to their Citrus Heights location where it was actually my first time trying this location out. Located directly on Greenback Lane and adjacent to Fountain Square Dr., this Tugboat can be a hit or miss since much of the signage is a little difficult to read. They are in the same parking as Sam's Club but this place has its own little parking area which wasn't at all an issue upon my arrival. Keep in mind that they are closed on Sunday/Monday just in case you're craving fish on those days. I ended up calling in my order for pickup around 8:15pm on Friday 5/14/2021. I told the employee I would like one order of their "3-Piece Fish" (for $10.49) which includes chips (French fries) and 2 containers of tartar sauce. I arrived around 8:25pm and my order was ready within a couple of minutes. The inside of this place was very clean while the employees were masked up and following all safety guidelines. Indoor dining was optional but since I live 5 minutes away from here, I took my food to-go. Also, this place does not offer any outdoor/patio seating. As soon as I got home and opened up the box, I was impressed with the sizable portions of their fish. Granted, much of the fish itself was heavily coated in batter but each bite was very crispy while their tartar sauce had the perfect blend of mayo, dill, and vinegar. I was kind of bummed that they didn't include a side of malt vinegar but that wasn't a dealbreaker. I do have to say that you definitely get what you pay for as this entire meal filled me up. As far as the fries, they give you a lot but they were just average as they taste like your standard frozen krinkle cut fries that you pop in the oven. All in all, "Tugboat Fish & Chips No 7" in Citrus Heights is definitely an above average experience as the customer service was good while the portions and price all were excellent. I could do without so much grease and batter but it is comfort food at its finest. My rating, a solid four stars.

Food was amazing!!!! Very good flavor in the meat and batter; hush puppies and onion rings were delicious and fresh. Tartar sauce was really good too- tastes homemade.

Good amount of fries but pretty small pieces of fish (I ordered the 2-piece). I get a lot more fish at the other Tugboats.

There's plenty of parking, and the unique metal artwork at the entrance is a fun photo op before you even walk in. Inside is huge with two bars, TVs throughout, an awesome patio that's dog-friendly (they even offer pups a free meal!), and some of the coolest decor with tap handles and bottles lining the ceiling. Such a fun vibe. Our server, Art, was fantastic, and the bartenders were equally welcoming. Service was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Happy Hour (Monday-Friday, 3-6 PM) is seriously one of the best I've seen. They offer a huge selection of food, craft cocktails, beer, and wine, all for under $10. It's the perfect excuse to stop in after work or meet up with friends. We brought our son, Ty, and loved that Tuesdays are Kids Eat Free. He ordered the chicken fried rice, and I couldn't believe how generous the portion was. Even better, every kids' meal comes with fresh orange slices and churro bites, which was such a fun touch. The food was fresh, flavorful, and Ty gave it two enthusiastic thumbs up! Now the food... WOW. This is so much more than bar food. The menu is chef-driven with bold Asian-inspired flavors and generous portions. The Firecracker Sashimi was incredibly fresh with just the right amount of heat, and the Drunken Pig Fries were loaded with flavor. The Tom Yum Shrimp completely stole the show. The shrimp were absolutely massive with a crispy coating that stayed perfectly crunchy, tossed in a bold, vibrant tom yum-inspired sauce that packed serious flavor. Served over rice with a fresh arugula salad, every bite was packed with flavor. My husband ordered the Korean Skirt Steak with shrimp, and it arrived on a sizzling hot plate. You could tell the steak had been marinating for a long time because every bite was packed with flavor. The fried rice soaked up all those delicious juices and developed the best crispy bits. Then came the Sticky Toffee Cake... warm, gooey, buttery, and the perfect way to end the meal. An absolute must-order. Amazing food, outstanding service, generous portions, and a fun atmosphere. University of Beer has officially become a new family favorite, and we'll absolutely be back.

When the waiter brought my drink, I immediately noticed it didn't look like a traditional Piña Colada, and after tasting it, I confirmed it certainly didn't taste like one either. I politely asked if I could exchange it for a different drink. The waiter returned and said the manager wouldn't allow an exchange but would offer me 50% off instead. I explained that I wasn't happy with the drink and simply wanted to order something else. The manager came over and explained that the menu includes a disclaimer stating the cocktails are made with soju instead of the traditional liquor. In my opinion, the waiter should have mentioned that when I ordered, especially since it significantly changes the flavor. I hadn't noticed the disclaimer--I simply ordered what I thought would be a classic Piña Colada. Unfortunately, I was still charged half the price for a drink I didn't enjoy and wasn't allowed to order a replacement. The manager emphasized that it was too expensive for the restaurant to remake drinks, which I found disappointing. I've never had an experience like this at any other restaurant. On a positive note, I ordered the Reuben sandwich with fries, and it was delicious. That was the highlight of the meal. However, the service was also lacking. Our waiter was slow and couldn't answer several of our questions without repeatedly leaving to ask someone else. Because of the poor customer service and how the drink situation was handled, I won't be returning.

We can't say enough about Al's hospitality! And the fact that he is from Niles, we loved supporting a Bay Area native! Our reservations of usually 30 or more are ready for us when we come in - Al made sure there was a table for the team and then separate ones for the parents.
