man, sutter street steakhouse has always been a bucket list spot for me.. but unpopular opinion here, it wasn't anything truly groundbreaking for me *womp womp*. FOOD we started with the chilled prawn cocktail. the prawns were fantastic, and the cocktail sauce was divine. we jumped into a cup of lobster bisque; which was something i was looking forward to. unfortunately, the soup tasted like a very bland tomato fish soup. ugh. it lacked flavor and i don't think there was hardly any lobster in it. major bummer! we go the surf and turf (with lobster), the rib eye, and mushrooms and brussels to accompany the steaks. TONS of food, which was nice (especially for the price)! both steaks were ordered medium rare; the filet was cooked as ordered and the rib eye was on the medium/medium well side. however, the major bummer with the rib eye was the menu states well marbled but the steak gas VERY fatty when you're paying $62 for a USDA prime, "well-marbled" (per the menu's description) steak, the last thing i'd expect is to describe the steak as more fatty then marbled. the sides were great; the garlic mashed potatoes with the soy wasabi sauce were incredible! SERVICE our server started out very attentive and progressively we saw him less and less throughout the night; waiting for the check, needing water refills, etc. i get that everyone has busy tables and the F&B industry is having a tough time, but dang. at a place like this, i'd expect top notch service throughout the dining experience! AMBIANCE it's very nice inside. super cool bar when you first walk in. lots of spacious seating so you're not sitting on top of one another and modern decor. after having worked in F&B, i totally understand the industry; some nights people call out, larger parties consume the kitchen, etc. but for the price, nothing really seemed to blow us out of the water :( hopefully it was just a bad night that we went. it has a great reputation for a reason! hoping the next visit is a better experience!

Celebrating a family member's birthday today. He wanted to dine and he gets his wish. Carrie the server was amazing along with the manager who ensured that our family was happy with the food - service and over all environment. We had the 6 oz filet and mushrooms(à la carte) - Caesar salad - oysters and shrimp cocktail for appetizers - thanks Sutter street steakhouse for a memorable meal.

Sutter Street Steakhouse has always been very consistent with the quality of food and service. Great atmosphere! Do yourself a favor and make a reservation. They are extremely busy on the weekends. Even with a reservation, we still had to wait a little bit on a Saturday night to be seated. We tried their Signature dishes, Surf n' Turf - 6 oz Filet, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, & Soy Wasabi Sauce with the Lobster and with the Prawns. Both seasoned just right! Make sure you save room and try the Steakhouse Vanilla Bean Crème Brulee.

I had the NY strip, mashed potatoes and yes I even had a Loaded Baked Potato! Everything here was a 10/10. Would definitely go back to this restaurant again! They even had 2024 Villa Pozzi - Moscato, I love a good moscato with dinner! Our waiter was attentive and easy to talk to. The only downside was that we had a reservation and they took like 30 minutes to seat us.

This was one of the best steakhouses I have been to! The steak was juicy, cooked perfectly and seasoned so well. The potatoes were great too! Onion ring appetizer was phenomenal to start as well. The worst part about the meal was the service. Hostess wasn't kind. Waiter was slow. For what I paid, I expected more. I would come back in hopes of better service.

I had a fantastic time at Sutter Street Steakhouse. It was a wonderful place to celebrate my mom's birthday. The ambiance is very relaxed with dim lighting and dark colored decor. We went to dinner with a party of 10 and arrived early. We sat in the bar area while we waited for our table to be ready and the service was quick. Once our table was set we were seated and Jessica (FANTASTIC waitress) let us know of the specials for the evening. Because we were such a large party, I got to try so many dishes on the menu. Every appetizer was delicious except for the calamari which was not quite to my liking. Some sides left me wanting a little more seasoning, but overall they were great. My favorite appetizer was the warm brie & bacon jam, it is an absolute MUST TRY! The onion rings were crispy and flavorful and oysters were fresh and accompanied by 3 sauces. Brussels sprouts were a great texture and paired well with the hot honey and feta. That being said, the salmon and every steak we ordered were cooked to PERFECTION! You cannot go wrong with any of their proteins. The succotash paired with the salmon was herbaceous and a great texture. Steaks were tender and juicy. Cocktails were good. I had a lemon drop with tequila and a huckleberry lemon drop martini which I greatly enjoyed! Overall I would definitely come again and I think this restaurant is a great spot for date nights! As for large groups be prepared to pay added gratuity and I do not believe they split checks at dinner. As an added bonus there is a parking garage that has an elevator that will take you to the restaurant! Sutter Street Steakhouse is a must try!!

Perfect place for a date or any special occasion! I would say this is my favorite place for steak in or near Sacramento. My go to is the 14 oz. Certified U.S.D.A. Prime Rib Eye, cooked medium ($60). It is always cooked to perfection, meat is juicy, and rich in flavor. Huge proportions btw! I can never finish it all in one go, (although my bf happily can) I enjoy eating it again the next day :D. The steaks always come with a side of mashed potatoes and herb compounded butter, which are delicious. They are very generous to give you a whole melt-in-your-mouth garlic for your meal, and if you are a garlic lover, you would love this lol! Service is amazing, servers are always attentive and super kind. We came here for our anniversary, and the servers offered us a chocolate lava cake on the house! It was soo good!! The lava cake was topped with vanilla bean ice cream sitting on a plate drizzled with salted caramel. If you have room for dessert, you should defiantly try it! Note: they have a parking garage under the restaurant, and there is an elevator that leads directly to and from the restaurant. It might be a bit hard to find esp at night, so if this is your first time here, I would scout it out google maps.

Came for early Valentine's Day. Our server, Stacey E, was very helpful and attentive. Parking can be a challenge, but we lucked out and were able to park in one the garages beneath the restaurant. The garages are relatively small (20-25 spots). The food was great as always. The seasonal lemonade was kiwi-passion fruit.

We came on a Monday evening and they had a great deal on combo meals. I had the flat iron steak with 3 perfectly cooked shrimp. I subbed fries for the mashed potatoes and they were great. Hubby had the New York steak combo. Both steaks were cooked to a perfect medium rare per our request. The calamari appetizer is plenty to share. Our server was very helpful and accommodating with any requests. We sat in a booth near to the kitchen. We could watch the dishes as they came out. We've never had a bad meal or service here. They are consistently good.

Listen.... I have had many oysters throughout my life, and NONE of them could ever compare to the oysters I had from this restaurant. They are so fresh, they have all the perfect sauces to go with them. Truly I have continued to go back to this restaurant for the oysters alone. Haha! The lobster is really really good as well. It's soft and buttery and everything that I would want from a lobster. I had my first espresso martini here (which is crazy I know) and this place made me wish that I had been ordering espresso martinis since I turned 21. The ambiance is nice and calming, I love the warm lighting. The service has been great, funny enough I ended up getting the same server both times I have come and his energy is awesome, I wish I would have gotten his name to leave here. I'm overall so satisfied with my experience and I'll be seeing you guys very soon for more oysters and lobster.

I surprised my husband for his birthday with a nice dinner and I have 0 regrets. From the ambience to the host and waitress it was 10s all around. The prices for the steaks are about average but the flavor is superb! We got one of the appetizers from their specials (pork belly) and wished it would be added as a regular item since it was amazing! Definitely coming back!

Celebrated my sister and brothers birthday at Sutter Street last night and we enjoyed our visit here. The restaurant was clean and well decorated, I like the wine cellar in the middle of the dinning room. We ordered drinks from the bar before we were seated and all of our drinks were really good. The service was great our waiter Chase was on point the whole night and he took really good care of us. The food was really good, I ordered the 14oz Ribeye medicine rare, which was cooked perfectly. We also ordered a dozen oysters, fried calamari, blackened prawns, and Brussels. They dish that I wouldn't order again is the Brussels, they were ok but nothing to call home about.

Ask the Community - Sutter Street Steakhouse

How much does a bill run for three adults?

Probably around $175 depending on how many drinks and or appetizers and if you order dessert. Such good food and the service is impeccable. Never been disappointed there.

Is there a corkage fee if you bring your own wine?

    Yes

Does this restaurant serve French bread while waiting for dinner? and are the drinks strong?

The Sutter Street Steakhouse does serve fresh bread while waiting for dinner but I cannot testify as to whether it is French or some other kind. As for the strength of their drinks, all I can tell you they did not water down my wine.

    Are jeans allowed?

I have seen people there in jeans, in shorts, and also dressed up.

Are there some tables in the bar where you can wait for a table and have a glass of wine?

    Yes!

    Do they take reservations?

    Definitely. They're pretty much required.

What are your hours now that pandemic is loosening up, also do you have a lunch menu?

Tuesday-Thursday 4:30 to 9pm Friday & Saturday 4:30 to 10pm, Sundays 4:30 to 8:30, closed on Mondays currently. Only open for Dinner service.

Does this restaurant have heat lamps to keep patrons warm while eating dinner outdoors?

    Yes the do!

Do they still serve that incredible burger in the bar?

    Yes.

    Is there a kids menu?

    Yes.

    Is there a corkage fee?

Yes but on Sundays it's free

Is happy hour still 4:30-6pm? What are the HH specials, and are they only available at the bar?

    Yes

Do they have a dress code?

Not that I know of but it's a nice restaurant, so business casual dress seems appropriate, even nice jeans. I've seen people there in T shirts, shorts, and tennis shoes, but seems mire respectful to fellow diners to wear clean and fashionable…

But how could I know that experience (and the service!! OMG the service!!!) was going to be so outstanding, that I would come back again the next evening to eat again?? The first night it was happy hour, with a spicy jalapeño mule, buffalo cauliflower, smoked Brussel sprouts, and a couple of beers. But the service was so attentive (almost too attentive) that we felt like we had to watch for gaps so we could take a bite or a sip in between folks checking in to see if we needed more food, more refills, or just a friendly hello! The next night was burgers, and brews, and bloody Marys - and again, the most amazing thoughtful, interactive and attentive service I have ever seen! And being a business owner, I can tell you that it's not enough to have a beautiful setting on the river with great views and a decent menu. Having servers, managers, bartenders (hell even the bussers had smiles and were polite and friendly) absolutely seals the deal. I really have no reason to go back to to El Dorado Hills in the near future other than work, but because of this single restaurant experience, I can tell you I am trying to find more reasons to return!

We were seated for dinner pretty quickly. The only problem I had was deciding what to order. The luau shrimp salad? Meatball sub? I finally decided on the lobster mac and cheese. While the portion wasn't large, it was delicious! Creamy and mild with fresh lobster (not fishy) and garlicy breadcrumbs. My husband got the ribeye and was thin but large with great seasoning and veggies. I'm not a big steak fan but I really liked it. We ended up grabbing some beignets to go for the kids, which were really tasty and came with 3 dipping sauces (our favorite was the Berry, although we ended up eating most of them without sauce). The atmosphere was upscale, but very casual, quiet and fun. We saw families with young children, couples on dates, and friends enjoying a meal together. It was the perfect vibe that we were looking for, comfortable, but classy. And the food was high-quality and tasty. We will definitely be back!

Upon entering, the hostess with the brown curly hair was noticeably rude and unwelcoming, which isn't the first impression you'd hope for when celebrating a special occasion. While our server was polite, the service was quite slow throughout the meal, despite the restaurant being fairly empty at the time. Overall, the excellent food helped make up for some of the service issues, but the rude greeting and slow service took away from what should have been a memorable anniversary dinner. I hope management addresses these concerns, as the kitchen is clearly doing a great job.

We split Beer Battered Pickles, Olives & Boquerones; Wolfsburg¼ Pound Bratwurst, Spicy Mustard, Sauerkraut; Harwood Burger with House Made BBQ Sauce, House Onion Rings, Bacon, Aged White Cheddar; and what we though was twisted as we were there for Happy Hour, none of us were in the mood for alcohol and instead all opted for ice tea with lemon. Their customer service, prices and cleanliness were all adequate. The access here is Disabled-Friendly. No automatic gratuity was demanded for my attendance here. According to Yelp ratings' definitions, that's "Ok". That to me is an acceptable rating of something that does day in and day out what it is there to do. It's NOT a negative review because doing day in and day out what it is there to do is NOT an easy thing to accomplish. We ate outdoors on a beautiful evening. Service was very good. We had linguini with white clam sauce and chicken parmesan. Both meals came with a nice salad and very tasty garlic bread. We shared both meals and frankly everything we ate was excellent. We'd come back in a flash if we ever come back to the area.

I believe I found them thru Yelp while looking around at cities on the way back to SJ. We walked in and easily got a table. The space is pretty big. I was worried I may be too dressed down. I was in athleisure and a comfy sweatshirt, but there were people in shorts and t-shirts, so no real dress code here. Dinner started with a complimentary cheesy kinda garlicky bread. The hubs enjoyed that. The scallops were an app. A lil dry. I think due to the way they seared it. But it was a good size with three scallops. The house salads were a nice intro into our mains. A good portion for a an inclusion. My pasta was huge. Plenty of seafood and sauce. And it was nice and creamy which was what I was craving. The hubs sole was fine. I'm not a huge lemon caper person, but it was a good temp. I don't believe the broccoli was sauteed in anything so it's just seemed veg. I like broccoli by itself, so this was fine with me. Nice impromptu stop on the way home. REVIEW #4038

Walk in, order and they'll give you a number and bring your food right to your table. I ordered the 2 protein combo. Tri tip and chicken, came with 2 sides and a corn bread. The tri tip was delicious with their bbq sauce! Their chicken was good too, juicy! For their sides I picked onion rings and granny apple slaw.. both was delicious! The onion rings were crispy and tasted great with ketchup. The apple slaw was refreshing. My sister ordered the 2 protein combo also but she got tri tip and sausage and sweet potatoe cris cut fries and mashed potatoes. She said everything was delicious! The tri tip was so good I ordered a Trio of slider togo for my son at home! We wanted the mud pie but unfortunately heard from the cashier they haven't had that in a long while and doesn't look like it will be coming back. I'm so sad! Overall the food was good and I would definitely come back.

At first glance, the menu prices seemed a little high, but the two-meat combo with two sides ended up being a great value and was more than enough food to share. My favorites were the tri-tip and the sausage. Both had a delicious smoky flavor and were cooked perfectly. The sides were just as good, and the cornbread was soft, moist, and especially tasty with butter. They also have a sauce bar with several options, and I really enjoyed the sauces I tried. The restaurant itself is spacious, with a mix of booths, tables, and bar seating. Service was a bit inconsistent, though. We wanted to sit at a booth, but after the previous guests left, the server cleared the dirty dishes and never came back to wipe down the table, so it was still covered in crumbs. I also had a frustrating experience when I asked for one of the plastic to-go containers they keep in the kitchen instead of the paper boxes available in the dining area. The employee questioned what I was packing, even though it was obviously for my leftover food. The cashier who took our order was friendly.
