The floors are heated, and the woodwork detail is very nice, making it feel like a rustic cabin that is also clean and comfortable. The Red Barn Lodge is on my list of places to return to in the near future, and the nearby skiing was fantastic. The town of Rossland is small, and the locals are very friendly and easy going. My only regret is that due to my travel schedule I could only stay for one night. Next time I'll be back and I'll stay much longer.

They were gracious hosts, making us feel comfortable in our home away from home. They did an incredible job of converting a dairy barn into an absolutely beautiful B&B. I would love to have my house decorated they way they have done the B&B. Some of the things I really enjoyed - heated floors, super comfy bed, quiet house, awesome clawfoot tub for two, delicious and healthy breakfast with more food than we could eat, and a fun tour of the place before we headed out for more skiing.

We chose to meet up in Castlegar, where one family lives; we wanted a place to gather, eat, talk, play and generally hang out, as well as enjoying some local parks. One family member came on his motorcycle on a cross-country trip, others in a long car trip, one flew in to Castlegar, and another in an RV parked adjacent to our trailer. This worked very well for us. Kim was very helpful and kind; didn't end up talking to Wylie. The place is tidy, clean and well kept, with lovely flowers adding charm. I didn't use the laundry or common bathroom/shower facilities. We made some delicious meals that we shared on the covered deck, kids ran around and rode bikes on the grounds, dog hung out in the RV and on the deck (not allowed inside the trailer) and used the pet relief area. Garbage/recycling was well contained in sheds. Close to town for groceries and restaurants. Other campers/occupants were quiet and friendly. Overall, happy to spend our family time together in this place!

Elevator was a classic with push buttons that I haven't seen in an elevator in years. The hallway to our hotel room was nice and clean The room had two double beds and was clean. They even had an easy clean TV remote for the TV set. Slim LCD TV, Telemax Hotel phone system and the bathroom clean. Wifi is a bit of a challenge. You always have to log in if you are not using the internet after so many hours. The restaurant at the end of the hallway in the hotel was a bit pricey. More on that in my next review. I like the Best Western Chain and this location hasn't let me down. The hotel is much more cheery than when you drive downtown on a cold winters dreary day in Trail.

We appreciated the quiet well tended grounds of the property, which was well off the highway fairly near the lakeshore. The room, though small, came with a very comfortable bed and clean, recently re-furbished bathroom. The lack of flat screen TV (small CRT only) was mitigated by exceptionally fast Wi-Fi, no doubt due to each room having its own router. In this day and age, being able to stream Netflix on your laptop is probably more important than having in-room television. The pet fee was only $5, which is exceptional in our experience. All in all, a very good value for the money. Our only quibbles: no shampoo in the bathroom, and an overloaded electrical outlet near the refrigerator.

But it ain't that way at all. It's impeccably clean. The furniture is nice. The bathroom is amazingly nicely fixed up. They've obviously done a lot of renovations and focussed on what's inside: good bed, good bath, floors that fell good under foot. We make the trek regularly from the coast to the Kootenays and this is going to be our regular stopping place from now on. Also: check out the pizza at Omega across the street. Very good Greek veggie.
