If you are looking for reliable diner food, you got it. We stopped in on a road trip. Our server Keith provided excellent service. The BLT, sourdough burger, and breakfast platter we ordered were all satisfactory. The bacon is thick and the fries were hot and crunchy.

This may look like a duplicate review, but the black bear diner seems to have two separate Yelp slots. I had to go five stars on this one! I've been to quite a few black bear diners. I've only had one Black Bear diner that was absolutely horrible, and that was by my house in the town over of fernley. But this one swung it out of the park! I walked in the door, and I was immediately greeted by two very nice younger women, and I vowed to sit at the counter which was open seating. My server I think was Skylar. She was super quick to greet me and asked me what I wanted to drink right when I sat down, and she was super attentive to me for my entire visit. All the employees were hustlin!! I ordered the cream of tortilla soup, chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. Everything came out super quick, and super hot! And if you know about black bear diner, you already know about the portion sizes!! I was able to even sneak a picture of the cooks in action and the back room! Your typical Black bear decorum, log cabin style and wooden furniture. Overall, perfect visit! I don't come to this part often, but I'll definitely be back if I'm here!! ***DISCLAIMER*** This pure, uncut, honest review is federally protected under Federal Law by way of Bill #EO14149. Well, my buddy and I are back at Big Bear Restaurant. Another tremendous tremendous meal with exquisite service from Jen K. I cannot get over the portion size of the food and the flavor is unbelievable. Thank you, Jen K and all the staff at Big Bear Restaurant for making my visit another great experience. On a side note. You have to get in there and try the food at Big Bear Restaurant. You won't be sorry

We also order some food to go and a buffet to go. We had 2 buffets in house. The strawberries were bomb! The mash taters and gray was yummy! The chicken noddles was so tasty (homemade too) loved the beef! Biscuits were on key. Will definitely be coming here again next time we blow on threw.

Ok. I have been to a few buffets and you have a lot of kinda warm food and not too cold stuff. Well…read morethe Country Farmhouse gets it right!! The hot items were hot. Not warm. But hot !! A couple kinds of French toast. Scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, country fried steak, bacon, ham, corned beef hash, lots of potato casseroles, waffles, two kids of French toast...it just goes on and on. And then you have a full salad area with fresh fruit !! Oh and did I mention an entire buffet of pastries? Donuts, cinnamon rolls, danishes, muffins. It just kept going !!! Everything was fresh and replenished and delicious. The only thing I'd pass on was the Bloody Mary bar. Not a lot of stuffs. Cold chicken nuggets, bacon, green olives, some sad pickle spears, lemon wedges, celery, kielbasa, that was pretty much it. Would Have like to have seen cheese cubes or maybe some shrimp. But it was not bad, just nothing to write home about. All in all for 20.00 a person for food (I don't remember what the bloody bar was) it was a good deal. And they do it daily, not just on the weekends!!!

What a shame. Drove by there today. Had some great memories. They closed and reopened as a Black…read moreBear diner. R place was legendary with their Hubcap -Porkchops , and massive pancakes, my favorite was the R place challenge- a burger which was about 3 lbs of meat, 1lb of condiments, and 1lb bun which was fresh baked daily on site. A few people conquered it, but not I. A friend & I went and split it once, and we couldn't finish. The server drops it off, and glanced at my buddy who had a funny look on his face.... And says: whats wrong sir? My pal deadpans and looks at this Massive burger which is about spilling over a full size dinner plate and says : Looks kinda skimpy, dont ya think?? The waitress and I roared with laughter. The burger was fabulous, fresh condiments, great bun, and meat was tops! Ahhh those were the days... They've fallen on hard times and closed. Shame. Good luck to Black Bear. I dont know anything about them but will try to stop in one day soon.

Many of the options I've tried seemed like the food was made from frozen or were left o er from the day before. I had a Rueben sandwich and the meat was chewy and the bread was very dry. Again, the breakfast option's are very good.

The food was incredible! I tried every single item on the buffet and loved all of it. And the staff... just wonderful. We are so grateful for such a lovely experience and will absolutely be back. But next time we'll be back to enjoy a peaceful brunch without also hosting 25 people Highly, highly recommend!

I was back in town visiting for a wedding and my host recommended G&S for brunch. They are only open eight hours a week and the only time we could get one of their few tables was 9 am sharp. We arrived on time and were the second table seated in a dining room that only contained eight tables. Great music, with classic rock and country played at a moderate level. Servers were all super nice and engaging. I could tell this was a place where the regulars come often and the staff knows them well. I got my OJ and my friend got her coffee. Juice tasted pretty fresh, but I admit I wish it had a little pulp. Right away we headed up to the buffet line and it was so amazing. Herb and cheese frittata, thick cut bacon, thick sausage patties, cheesy hash browns, banana bread French toast, biscuits, sausage gravy, Caprese salad, cinnamon rolls, raspberry brownies, fruit salad, almond poppyseed scones, chocolate chip cookies... Everything I tried was excellent. The bacon and sausage were so full of flavor and as I mentioned they were thick, nothing wimpy about this breakfast meat. The French toast really had that nice banana and cinnamon flavor going. Cheeses added richness to the shredded hash brown potatoes. That cinnamon roll was so flaky. I even took some the buttercream frosting on top and spooned it on the French toast bake and that only made it even more amazing. I almost felt sorry for the fruit salad of blueberries, red grapes, and honeydew! 23 dollars was a pretty solid deal, especially since it was unlimited portions. I've had a few brunch buffets, but this absolutely ranks in the top 2 or 3 I have ever had.
