Typical diner. Get what you expect. Pancakes and the works. Friendly and to the point waitress who helped us order. I got the American Burger which was a simple as you would expect but tasty. Came with fries which were good and a soup which was not - we had the cheesy mushroom and spinach soup that was basically a fondu. But I think that's a style that some people are used to. I can say that the breakfast is amazing. The options are very broad, the food is very tasty and fresh, and the service was phenomenal. I'm not from the area, but I would definitely return. The vibe there was very nice. The only thing I would change is the decor. It is a bit outdated and I could see how some people could be skeptical of going because of that but the food is amazing. read more

We were obvious outsiders in a sea of regulars lol. But it wasn't weird! Everyone was friendly and smiled at us - customers and staff alike. The service was awesome! Our server made helpful suggestions. The owner came by our table to thank us for stopping in and gave the kids each a quarter for the gumball machine on the way out. The diner was clean, but extremely cold, like cold cold. I had ordered a French dip , came with chicken noodle soup and fries and my husband ordered the monte cristo sandwich with fries. Neither of us could eat our food, the meat didn't look right and they don't put cheese on their French dip sandwich unless you pay an additional amount. There was no chicken in the soup and it tasted like shells in water with a weird film over the top of it. Everything about our dishes was off , even the piece of lettuce with a tomato on it was kinda weird on the side of our plates. Found out they changed owners months ago. My husband bragged how great this place was and how his family went here every yr up to 2018 , and then with covid they hadn't been back... until now. For starters you cant beat the prices or service. Hands down 5 star on that. The food there is a little to be desired. Sausage gravy is somewhat bland, just need some simple cracked pepper. The biscuits we decent but i like a dense consistency. Eggs Benedict were cooked well but the hollandaise sauce was also bland and watery. The ham is a good portion but its smoked ham which overpowered the hollandaise sauce. Worth a visit. read more

Now I know why I've only ever had Sherwood oaks my whole life living here. Just tried going for breakfast here a couple months ago because Sherwood was packed for hours due to church folk and it was dirtier, run down atmosphere, and the food wasn't good. The parking lot was full since it's small with not much room to turn around in. Fighting over parking spots with guests. If the spots are taken apparently you have to leave and go park at the Wendy's parking lot and walk over. All I had was a skillet and I couldn't even get myself to eat much of a couple bites. The hollandaise sauce was simply melted butter and nasty. They had sat us near the kitchen door and we could see and hear everything workers were doing or standing around saying. Just wasn't my go to. I'll stick to Sherwood. Especially since they just updated it all. read more

Upon getting out of the car, the first thing that hits you is the overwhelming odor of greasy fried food. Not sure if that's from Morris Diner or the Wendy's next door. I had a corned beef hash skillet. It tasted fine but the cheese was two semi-melted Kraft singles. I don't understand why restaurants can't use shredded cheese. Surely that can be purchased in huge bags from your food supplier and it tastes SO much better! My dad had an omelet that he was happy with. My mom got the feast deluxe...a half slab of ribs with a huge chicken breast, soup, potato, and dessert (cherry pie). She was in heaven and had plenty of leftovers. Her food looked the best out of all our meals. Not the greatest place but not terrible. A pretty standard greek diner. It serves its purpose. read more

1st time customer. Outstanding, top notch customer service. Hostess seated us, manager came around asking if everything was OK. Our waitress was the best! She must have stopped by 4 or 5 times politely pausing if we should have needed anything. We declined the soup that came with the meal and wanted fries instead. She suggested we take the soup home for later. No restaurant I've been to ever offered that! She added rolls, crackers, butter in the soup bag that we took home. The soup was absolutely delicious. I ordered a simple meat lovers skillet with American cheese waitress brings out an omelette. Takes it back get a skillet and comes with wrong cheese. Not sure if waitress got it wrong or the cooks but won't be going back. Further more they charged me 5.99 for the 2 small pancakes that I had choice of that or toast. read more

Was in the area for work so I decided to stop in for breakfast, the diner is your typical diner inside nothing spectacular but a real good vibe family feel for sure, my waitress Glenda was very nice super friendly and made sure I was taken care of coffee refills, napkins, ketchup too! I ordered the country skillet eggs over easy, food was fast on delivery to my booth, the flavor was very good and potatoes mmmmm good the eggs perfect! We tried this restaurant for the first time today, never going to return!! The food had to be returned to the kitchen, not once, but twice. One of the orders was never cooked until halfway through our meal. The owner was verbally abusive to his waitress and never once came to apologize. Upon checking out, he actually hid so he wouldn't have to speak to me. The eggs were cooked to hard boiled, the hash browns were cold and basically raw, the waffle was made incorrectly and then returned cold. The only plus side was the good coffee and pizza burger. There's too many other choices of restaurants, I'd suggest trying them instead!! read more

Morris diner was established in 1987 and the decor proves it.  Not that this is a bad thing, I like restaurants which take care of what they have and that is a style unto itself after a while.  This is a local  place as the name suggests.  For those without google translate that is Greek for mom and pop.   The coffee was pretty bad, it was weak and watery.  The sweetener and cream were packets and sitting in the table, which is par for this type of place, but the coffee itself was disapointing. I had the gyros skillet with pancakes and over easy eggs.  The gyros is cooked on a spit, like any Greek restaurant would do.  I did want to check because that pan fried gyro meat is the worst.  this was fairly good. Pretty annoying that the website status says Open (at 5pm today) and last time we checked a few days ago the door was posted that they were on short hours 6am to 3pm. No one answers the phone (not even a recorded message) if you want to know status after 3. They have good stuff on the menu.....we go back for the cabbage soup....but now no dine-in for dinner. We're from out of town and went to the Morris Diner with a local. Very nice diner with wonderful food. The manager and his wife were very nice and friendly. If you're looking for the best biscuits and gravy with crispy hashbrowns this is the place. Service was wonderful. I highly recommend it!! read more

Boyfriend and I are on the road to a wedding in Central Illinois. In need nourishment, we pull off the highway to discover DINER NIRVANA. Seriously. Morris Diner & Pancake House is where all other good, little diners hope to go when they die. Heaven with a short-order cook... and breakfast served all day! MD&PH oozes diner-charm. Cozy booths, green and pink rose-print fabrics, porcelain rooster figurines, and a carnation on every table. I knew I was falling in love before I even placed my order. For lunch, I went with a short stack (three) of the Sweet Dark Cherry Pancakes and a side of bacon. (Helena's Foodie Tip #87 - if breakfast is served all day, go with it! Pancakes are timeless). Boyfriend had the "Black Russian" sandwich (a roast beef and corned beef medley, of sorts). We were completely unprepared for how many sides came with his meal. Between the two of us, we had more food that we could ever consume. We started with the split-pea soup (free with his sandwich!), and it was quite delicious. Once my pancakes arrived, I left him to his own devices and concentrated on my mound of breakfast wonder. They were incredible - light and fluffy with just the right amount of tart cherry topping. I eventually had to cover my food with my napkin to stave off a self-induced food coma. Our server was an absolute peach. I could hear her interact with other clients and it was clear that MD&PH draws a loyal, regular crowd. The place was clean I will give it that, I stopped in and they seat you, well the guy at the door was not at the top of his game, he acted like I had nothing better to do in life but stand in his doorway and wait for him to shuffle papers. I got the Denver omelet, it was fair but not good, the serving was the smallest I have ever been served, but the toast was buttered well. The waitress was very nice, I bet she came to my table at least five times to tell me my food was coming, The last time she walked up, I said yes I know my food is coming! What a gem! The food here is outstanding. It is Diner food but better. The sweet and sour cabbage soup is awesome. Their gyros are the best in the area and they give you more than one pita can handle! I always order an extra pita so I can bring home the left overs and make another whole gyro. The prices are very reasonable too. The last time I went I had the chicken De Jong with linguine Alfredo as a side. It was delicious!
