I don't know why they even put one here. No one from the highway can see it. It's only for the truckers in the area. Which isn't bad, they need decent food. I've been here 3 times, and each time has been bad. Pros: I always get seated right away because no one is here. That's it. Cons: Rude service. The servers act like they don't want to be there. They are always out of what seems like half the menu. The juices are watered down. Luckily only once, but the hash browns were so overcooked I asked for less cooked ones and got soggy hashbrowns. It's a shoot to see if they have food on hand. You never see a manager walking around. The manager doesn't know how to prepare for the day's food. Always shorthand. Recommended? No. Village Inn and Cracker Barrel has better food and you know the menu will be stocked. I'm done coming here. We've been wanting to try Black Bear and finally had the chance last weekend. When we got there around 1:30pm on a Sunday we were told the wait would be 35 minutes, while not ideal we decided to wait it out. It ended up being only 10 minutes to our surprise which was great! However, once we got seated that's when the real wait started. It took foreverrr to get our food. I'm not sure why because the restaurant wasn't that busy. Our waitress was a little odd and wasn't that great at communicating to the point where we were speaking for her just to help her out. I think a little confidence training would go a long way. Our meals finally came out and when they did I was told to my surprise they didn't have any more crispy chicken for my salad. I think telling me as our food came out wasn't the move, as maybe I would have picked something else? Either way the waitress told me I was getting grilled chicken and that was that. For a place that specializes in home cooked meals I don't think running out of chicken fingers is ideal for business. However, my salad was very big and fresh despite the chicken conundrum and I was only able to finish maybe 1/3 of it. My husband had the fried chicken, which should have been amazing, however the breading was really thick and the chicken was funny. You know how that is when the chicken is just weird - that's how it was. He also had homestyle potatoes because they didn't have mashed potatoes (also strange) and they were not good. They were mostly burnt and had a funny taste. Overall I think this place may have potential however the service and the cooks in the back have some work to do. I think for tourists passing through looking for a home cooked meal this place will do the trick, but for locals looking for a place to eat I'd pick somewhere else. A little different review here. I have eaten inside 4 times and it was 5 stars service and food. But the order on line not so much. Ordered 2 clubs one with fries and one with a salad. When I got home the salad was not there. When I called the manager and I said no salad at the same time so they knew of a mistake but the only solution from them was me to drive 15 minutes back to pick up my salad. Their mistake but I have to do all the work to fix it. I wonder what my sandwich would have tasted like 30 minutes later if I did go back. They seal the bags pretty good but check your order before you leave but my advice eat in. The quality of food seemed to be better inside than to go food. read more

The chicken looked old and was hard . My grandson ordered chicken strips and got small nasty chicken nuggets . This is the second time I have eaten there and the second time I've been disappointed . One of the workers told me their food is shipped to them frozen and they warm it I thought they cooked it themselves! The food is worse than McDonalds. The service was ok though . read more

Black Bear Diner has always been a great to go restaurant while traveling. My visit to the Pueblo, CO location was a bit different. First of all Pueblo is a smaller city compared to Colorado Spring and Denver. This location was off the 25 freeway. It's a newer restaurant...easy to find...clean friendly location. The servers were extremely polite and friendly. We did experience a problem with under cooked food however the young man in charge had the problem corrected and offered a generous compensation. We enjoyed are meal! I have no doubt that this restaurant will improve once the new management team gets through training and returns to this location. With that said I'm going to keep this a 5star because of the amazing effort the employees made to keep us satisfied! read more

My wife and I shared the chicken fried steak dinner. The best we have had ever and the cornbread is so crumbly moist and delicious. The tomato and basil soup was also the best we have had. So much food in one plate and we both shared it. Enough for is both easily! Can't wait to come back. Five stars for sure! read more

This is based solely on our experience at this Black Bear diner in Pueblo CO. We have dined at other Black Bear locations and are big fans. We were thrilled that Pueblo actually got one earlier this years. This is our first time dining at this location since their 'pre-opening' test opening. We have been hearing rumours about service issues. It was time to check it out. This is our experience: We walked in at early supper hour, The room was about 60% full. It seemed they might have been a bit short staffed. We went for their AYCE Friday fish feed. Upon inquiry, it turned out that the fish offered for AYCE is pollock, whereas that in their regular fish and chips menu offering is cod. We elected to have the fish and chips, which is actually a dollar less costly. They messed up the order, sadly. We received the pollock plate with two pieces. Turned out, our server must have grabbed the wrong plates, as the manager told us that our order sat on the counter for 30 minutes unclaimed. My wife had requested hash browns, but her plate came with fries, mine did also, despite having substituted a salad for them. The salad did come and was a decent size for a side salad. Strangely, since we got the 'AKCE' plate, which was supposed to have hushpuppies, we didn't receive those. The fish was well prepared, for what it was, but it was not cod. Coleslaw was included. I found it OK; Angelika didn't like it because it essentially had no dressing. We decided to have dessert. The mixed berry cobbler was passable. Crust was top only, nicely baked; the filling was kind of.... OK: standard canned or frozen pie filling. I ordered a chocolate malt. It was satisfactory. Plenty of it and had good chocolate and malt flavor. Our server, Erica, was pleasant, friendly and attentive, despite bringing the wrong plates. It seemed that she was probably handling too many tables, however. Service time from entry to receiving our meals was pretty standard, so no complaints about that. Upon paying, we happened to talk a bit with a woman who seemed to be the manager. She told us about the apparent error in our order. We mentioned that we are both veterans and she gave us their discount, plus comping some of the price of the meal, probably because of the error. We love Black Bear diner. We want to see our local restaurant succeed. So, give it a try, because they do seem to be working on meeting Black Bear's standards. read more

The first day I ordered to go on the app, I checked in with someone when I got there 15 minutes later they came out and said they're out of Turkey. I asked if they had meatloaf they went and checked and said yes came back 10 minutes later and we're out of meatloaf. I had to wait another 10 minutes for a refund. I went back a few days later with a friend mashed potatoes were ice cold. Turkey was fairly dry. My friend wanted meatloaf they were out again. They only see half the restaurant because they don't have enough employees even though it's a new restaurant. I've been going to Black Bear since mid 2000s in Arizona. I do not recommend the one In Pueblo. read more

It has been a week and I haven't heard back from them. I was so excited when Black Bear Diner came to Pueblo. So, when I was finally able to use my free birthday meal.... I was happy to head over. Sadly, it was not Black Bear Diner at it's best. My husband, or I, never got refills on our drinks. My pancakes were served without butter. The cook forgot the eggs and sausage. Our side order of onion rings had 5 total onion rings for $7.59 !?? He also forgot the fries with my husband's club sandwich, after we were very clear the onion rings were a side order. One waitress (?) seemed unable to leave the counter by the cooks.... and spent the entire time pacing in front of them. I am trying not to complain, as my meal was free. I am pointing out some areas that need addressed. I don't think I have given up on Black Bear as a favorite. I will not come in the evening. My family and I were there last Friday night for dinner. We were seated with out waiting but the ordering was something else!! Apparently they were short handed in the kitchen that it took over an hour for us to receive the order!! Stopped in this morning for breakfast. I had a waffle with bacon and 2 eggs. Around 13.98, I don't remember exactly. I sat at the counter. There's a foot rail that made it quite nice. I want to comment on the waffle; it could have been cooked a little longer, at a lower temperature. It was mushy inside. Other than that, it was decent. I will give it another try. read more

I have been to Black Bear in Fountain many times, and I am very happy to have one in Pueblo now. I saw and heard the complaints of long waits for food, but I think it takes a little while to work out the kinks of a new business. I went today and was happy to receive the same great service and food I have come to expect. The wait time was reasonable. I timed it, from ordering to food on the table was 16 minutes. It was busy, but we were able to be seated right away. Overall great! read more

Mu wife and I went for dinner last night and it was our fourth time at the Pueblo diner. It turned out to be as miserable as the previous three visits! During our four visits, they were out of many items such as chicken strips, avocado, cole slaw, ranch dressing and more. Food came out cold, pancakes were raw and very cold, items were left out of the meal that the menu stated should be included. Wait times were extremely long. I like to give second chances, but 4 times? Really??? My wife had to get up and find someone to give us our check and a to-go box. We arrived there at 4:30 and couldn't leave until almost 7:00. When i went to pay, the cashier somehow locked up the register and the total was different from my check total. Someone came up to cancel the first transaction and was temporarily unable to. It was finally corrected after holding up the line for a very long time as other patrons voiced their frustration. I noticed that someone responded to the horrible reviews with the exact same response. Don't bother...We're waiting now to see if we were charged twice. We will not be back! EVER!!! I wonder if people at the top will even see this! read more

First time here, heard they had a hard time with service when they first opened so I figured we would give them a few months to get it sorted out before going, but unfortunately it's still awful, seams like they had 1 waitress and a maybe half full night so not crazy but she clearly has no training brought our group drinks and didn't know what any of them were and just said we would have to figure it out (she did this twice with both sets of drinks), they were out of two items off the bat from the menu, food took quite a while my side was wrong and another persons food was cold and my salad was hot. Food was pretty average nothing special, I literally had to get up and get my own refill from the machine I the back myself since the waitress never checked on us, I'm sure it will close in the next year or so unfortunately but I hope they do make some positive staff changes to recover but we probably won't be back, the one in springs is way better. read more
