Grabbed a quick "to go" dinner at this cool place on the way through town. Neat & clean atmosphere inside. I ordered a "chicken wing" and my friend got a "build your own". Both were very fresh and a good size for the price. We each had a cold draft beer (about 4-5 on tap and a few bottles) while we waited for our order which came up quicker than we could finish our beers. We also had to check out there queso and chips. We both agreed that it was a good consistency and seasoned flavor. The slaw was fine, a nice accompaniment. Overall, worth the stop and we will go again. read more

I guess for young college students this pace is Ok but for the 50+ year olds like us, this place was a mistake. My husband had the nachos with cheese dip (looked more like a milky substance) and he also had the chicken burrito with black beans. Terrible, no flavor and hardly any chicken. What a cool little spot in Boone. Stopped in last week while visiting my daughter. It was a late lunch so it wasn't crowded. Had heard good things about the "Don't Be A Jerk" burrito. I was not disappointed. Good flavors and I really liked the grilled pineapple. I asked for the spicy salsa and sour cream on the side. That was a good move. This place is horrible, I do not understand how they are still in business. The food is mediocre at best, and they are terribly understaffed. It took 45 minutes for our food to arrive, and when it did, half of our orders were wrong. The menu is very hard to understand and the food is overpriced. 11$ for a quesadilla is unreasonable, especially when the queso is almost nonexistent within it. The wait staff was extremely rude and very dismissive, while I was waiting for my food to be bused one of the two waitresses actually left to go outside and check her phone. I will never return to this place and I highly recommend that you not go here and save yourself time and money. You can thank me later. read more

Burritos were meh. Flavor were good but the steak was chewy. Chicken tasted like a dirty stove and the queso is really nacho cheddar. I tried their philly burrito and chicken burrito. They also won't make you tacos if you ask, so don't ask. read more

Black Cat is our go-to restaurant when we want a quick, non-fast food, healthy meal. Their burritos are very unique (think Philly cheesesteak, Greek, and Thai options) but they are so delicious. I always do a build-your-own, so that is always an option if you don't like their fixed menu items. Service is very quick. There is not much to this restaurant, but that is my favorite kind of restaurant--simple, but solid. read more

Black Cat is definitely my go to restaurant in Boone. Don't let its small size and mismatched tables fool you, it's some of he best food in this town. Kevin is doing great things in the kitchen and the rest of the staff is super friendly. I came with a group of five from New Jersey and I am so glad we stopped by. The food tasted great and for an affordable price. I had the Jumping Juan. Filling and delicious, both for a low price. My friends and I were so excited to go to the black cat show the other night, we even wore all black for the event... we called ahead of time and asked if it was 18+ and a woman said yes its 18+ tonight. We get there and we got turned away because the security man said that his manager or bartender or who ever told him it was 21+ tonight. We started off with the appetizer sampler, (queso, guac, and salsa). They were all great. The fish tacos are awesome, be sure to put some of the mango salsa on them. Food is great. The selection of local craft beer is top notch. The reason for 3 stars: fruit fly hang out at the bar....they loved sitting on my pint of Hoppyum, I can't blame them for liking good beer. However, it was annoying. My kids got free kids meal so I ordered a side of chips. I assumed chips came with salsa and I was told that salsa was an additional charge. The staff was annoyed of my assumption, maybe informing the consumer of this at check-out would have been nice. Overall good food. read more

If I could leave no stars I would. My boyfriend and I ate here for the first time today and won't be back. The food was also easy disgusting, but my boyfriend pulled a small curly hair out of his mouth while eating one of his tacos. I always try to make sure when this happens it hasn't came from either of us, our clothes, etc. After looking into the taco there were several small hairs all intertwined throughout it. I had only taken a few bites of my bland quesadilla at this point. I got up and went to tell the cashier (that had long hair and wasn't pulled back in any way at all) and noticed nobody in the kitchen had their hair restrained either. Once I told the cashier his response was "well we can make you something to go". Uh? No thank you. After saying we didn't want anything else and we didn't eat any of our food, we weren't offered anything else. I have managed a multimillion dollar restaurant and would NEVER have some one pay 30 dollars for a meal they didn't even touch. After coming home I vomited due to the nauseating taste that was left in my mouth from the few bites I took. *Edit* Also forgot to add that upon saying we wanted water to drink, the host filled our classes with water from a HAND SINK right in front of our faces. Found this restaurant this weekend, while looking for a place to sit down for a great meal after a long day sight seeing in area. The atmosphere is great and what many would call "hip". I have to say the prices were a little high for the amount of food I received ($20 for two orders of burritos), but was still a great meal. Try the greek burrito! read more
