I managed this camp for nearly 20 years before retiring two years ago. During that time, I was…read morealways the person behind the scenes making sure everyone else was having a good time, comfortable, and relaxed. So, I decided it was time to check Barehide Ranch off my own bucket list and experience it as a guest. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I've made. I saw many familiar faces along with plenty of new ones. Meeting new people was especially fun because they had no idea who I was or my history with the ranch. As always, everyone was friendly, respectful, and welcoming. The atmosphere was relaxed, and people were simply there to enjoy themselves. Barehide Ranch is a rustic, country experience. You won't find a luxury resort with cabana service. What you will find is a beautiful place where people can relax, connect, and enjoy the outdoors. I spent time by the pool, relaxed in the hot tub, and enjoyed conversations with people from all walks of life. Fridays and Saturdays are full of energy and activities, while Sunday brings a slower pace where you can simply unwind after a fun-filled weekend. What impressed me most was seeing the same culture I loved when I retired still thriving today. Respect and privacy remain the foundation of the experience, and that is what makes people feel comfortable from the moment they arrive. Over the years, I saw many first-time visitors arrive with uncertainty. I remember countless couples where the wife would say, "This was my husband's idea. I'm not sure about this. I'll probably be wrapped up in a towel the whole weekend." I would always smile and tell them that was perfectly fine. Then, later, I would see them at the pool enjoying themselves, embracing the freedom and having a great time. Many would eventually say, "This is great! I wish I had done this years ago." My response was always the same: "I know, right?" If visiting a nudist club is on your bucket list, Barehide Ranch is the perfect place to start. I only wish I had experienced it as a guest years ago instead of always being the one working to make sure everyone else was having fun. I'll definitely be back.

A hidden little gem but well worth the drive. We recently heard about this place and decided we'd…read morego try it out. We went on a Monday afternoon, it wasn't busy, less than $20 for my family to enjoy the day and beat the Texas heat. Has a blob (giant pillow on the water where one person is at the end and the other person jumps down and catapults their other into the water), several diving boards, volleyball and basketball in the water and many picnic and beach areas. I definitely recommend a weekday, it wasn't crowded at all!

The swimming hole is a man-made spring fed lake. There's a couple diving boards (one is a high dive), a setup net for water volleyball, a BLOB and plenty of extra room for swimming. Plus I was told they are going to add a couple big slides for next year. Beautiful scenery and lots of places to get shade (with tables) for picnics or cooking out. Bathrooms are nice with a small shower (shower could use a little upgrade but it was suffice for its purpose). Friendly owners and staff. Overall great place to spend a summer afternoon. I highly recommend a trip for the family! Tips: bring life jackets if you plan to do the blob. You can not do it without one and they are not provided (although you can purchase one for around $15). Careful walking in the grassy areas...there are stickers. Camping is only aloud for RV's. Daily admission for swimming is $4.50 (free for two and under) and $2.50 to park. AND the park is dog friendly, which is a bonus for many.
