It had been mowed.(you can tell. Didn't have to worry about running upon a snake or some critter. I did not see where to pay the $7 though, so I decided to see if I could find it online. No ATM's etc. There was a metal box it seemed, but I wouldn't deposit any cash into that. They need a better means of collecting the $7. maybe at the entrance? Maybe they are working on that. (smile) Overall, it was a great experience and I did catch some buffalo fish. My neighbors caught a nice channel catfish using cut bait.

We went on a Monday afternoon, it wasn't busy, less than $20 for my family to enjoy the day and beat the Texas heat. Has a blob (giant pillow on the water where one person is at the end and the other person jumps down and catapults their other into the water), several diving boards, volleyball and basketball in the water and many picnic and beach areas. The swimming hole is a man-made spring fed lake. There's a couple diving boards (one is a high dive), a setup net for water volleyball, a BLOB and plenty of extra room for swimming. Plus I was told they are going to add a couple big slides for next year. Beautiful scenery and lots of places to get shade (with tables) for picnics or cooking out. Bathrooms are nice with a small shower (shower could use a little upgrade but it was suffice for its purpose). Friendly owners and staff. Overall great place to spend a summer afternoon. I highly recommend a trip for the family! Tips: bring life jackets if you plan to do the blob. You can not do it without one and they are not provided (although you can purchase one for around $15). Careful walking in the grassy areas...there are stickers. Camping is only aloud for RV's. Daily admission for swimming is $4.50 (free for two and under) and $2.50 to park. AND the park is dog friendly, which is a bonus for many.

Come evening they would be swarming under our RV and I hadn't noticed until they were all over our floor inside.

A true sense of what it is to be in the grass lands. Open, no gates with a warm breeze. A bit of the old west, remote area offering clean air & beautiful clouds with bright stars at night. We searched for a park close to Decatur and found this one. It is very convenient and it is easy in…read moreand out. The owner was very nice on the phone and proved very helpful. On arrival we almost left. The park had deep washed out places that could not be crossed. Our site was not even close to being level. It was also "in the road". We could not tell where our site ended and the park road began. There was s sizable tree stump that made it hard to line up with the power box. Dog poo all over the area around the laundry and shower. The bathrooms, were private and were of a very nice size. However they were the dirtiest I have ever seen. We stayed two nights in a fifth wheeler. We will not be back.
