Went for dinner Christmas Day and had ask why our food was more than an hour late. We came in, ordered at 5:50 and at 7 we had to ask if our food was coming or not. I've eaten here several times on Christmas Day and other busy holiday nights so I can understand that it's very busy but this is the first time that I felt that they weren't very concerned about the service we received. I can understand if there's an issue and that we need to wait, but we expect to be informed of the issue and not just have to sit and wonder what the problem was or if they even put our order in. When our fixed menu entree eventually came at 7:10 we just got it packed up with our desserts and left since we hadn't planned to just sit and stare at the bar for an extra hour. The owner kinda said something about the server not knowing something across a loud bar but I couldn't really hear and honestly didn't have the patience to hear what seemed like the owner blame shifting. The server was perfect. But I don't understand why we couldn't have been informed about a delay by the owner? He was there the whole time but didn't seem interested in the people eating at his restaurant. We had looked forward to eating out here all week and were quite dissatisfied about the quality of service and sadly can't justify going back. Fixed menu with 4 drinks + tip was more than $300 which seems high based on the low quality of service. Many better newer places on the mountain. Sad to have to branch out. read more

Honestly, the absolute worst quality food you could ever eat at this place. It's not even edible. Manager hides behind the counter when asked to speak about it, how embarrassing... I have been here numerous times over the years but It was with other people as an absolute last resort. After today I will never be back again and I will forward every complaint to my friends and family making sure they don't as well. Service was absolutely awful as well. No coffee refills, not checking in, slow to get us the bill, etc etc Overall the restaurants at big white l are severely lacking in everything, that's abundantly clear. We've had many great meals here. It is probably our favorite eatery on the mountain with solid service and delicious food.

Hahaha I have been reading these reviews and some of them are ridiculous! Spoiled people with nothing else to do but complain! I went here every day for the last week and Don and Theresa were amazing. A few things to know: there are hundreds of people at big white at any given time so WITHOUT A RESERVATION you may have to wait a few minutes to be seated and for food but it is well worth it the ribs are to die for and mixed drinks are one of a kind. The staff is amazing if you take the time they will tell you about what part of the world they are from and what brought them to big white which I love. Great environment, warm and inviting. While there I saw several patrons who drank and ate only to complain and demand refunds after the fact which is appalling. Big white is a community of snow and ski enthusiasts, not a staff of babysitters here to entertain your every demand. I can't wait to eat here again!!!! Thank you so much Don and Theresa! read more

This restaurant is by far the best on the mountain! The wide array of food choices and decedent desserts are to die for. The staff is amazing and the owner Don runs his restaurant with such elegance and precision, all while making you feel like you are part of the family. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and assure you that you won't be disappointed. Terrible. The food was not under seasoned, but not seasoned. The steak I ordered (a ribeye) looked more like a sirloin. In fact in hindsight I wondered if that was what got screwed up. I was the quality of a Denny's fast food steak. But at $47. My wife's food also lacked seasoning. She and I both had to add lots of salt and pepper to get something out of it. The beer was warm which is hard to do here when it is in the teens outside. Server was nice but took forever to get food and drinks. Skip this place and go to The Woods or The Bull Wheel. First time I went here food was great got the special and steak was amazing Came back next weekend for the same and even got the same server and same special, it came horribly wrong bad cut server even told me after I complained that he knew they weren't going to be good cuts and was told not to serve it but did anyways, I ordered a different meal which came and was good then I find out on the bill that not only is there no discount or deal but he's charging me full price for the more expensive meal I ordered after my first was sent back. He even then went to arguing about I ordered the second meal so should be paying for that price lol. Have read other reviews and are usually bad too. We just had an appalling experience this afternoon at this restaurant. We came in for lunch and waited several minutes at the front door to be seated. An older man who looked to be the manager/owner was at the door and on the phone. After multiple minutes of not being acknowledged we decided to leave and go to another restaurant. We left and after a few steps outside he followed and started yelling at us about us giving him a bad look including swearing. It was violent and disgusting and we will be reporting this incident to big white. read more

I've only eaten lunch at this restaurant and I had a Rueben sandwich which was one of the specials from memory. It was an OK sandwich, but far, far, far from the best I've ever eaten, certainly not the worst though. I think the thing that​ put me off is we were not made to feel welcome. When we entered we were asked if we had a reservation, we did not (for what it's worth the room was pretty empty). It really felt like it was a chore to show us a table, which is far from a great start. Once we were able to order (seemed to take ages to get the servers attention) the food arrived​ quickly, well presented but nothing special. The whole​ experience didn't​ prompt me to rush back for dinner. Next time I'm in Big White, will I go there again? I seriously doubt it. read more

Myself and 6 friends went in on two seperate tables for a friend's birthday brunch, I ordered the Classic Caesar, I'm English and since living here in Canada I have become a huge fan! It was so disappointing very watery and tasteless, I asked for extra spicy and extra muddy, I grabbed the host and told her I didn't like it and that I didn't want a replacement or anything else and that I would be sticking to water instead. Everything was going great we were all satisfied with the food, service was slow but nothing to complain about. We had a great time and when we came to pay the drink was on my bill so I asked my server for it to be removed, BIG MISTAKE! The owner Don came over and told me in a loud enough voice for about four other tables to hear that I was inappropriate and to leave right now and I'm not welcome anymore. Me and my party were all gobsmacked! We thought he was joking,it was such a strange situation. I asked the server did you hear how he just spoke to me and he shrugged giving me the impression this is something that happens frequently. Do not give this guy your money, he's rude and mean! I've worked in hospitality for 15 years and manage the bar at another Venue on the Hill, this is not how you treat anyone, especially not your customers. Great restaurant. I've eaten here two weeks in a row for lunch. Mainly sandwiches and fries. Both well done. Burgers are hand-made and so are many of the sauces. Great selection of beer. Went for dinner at 8pm on 21 March 2022. Owner / seater is very rude and unprofessional. Made us stand there and wait after asking us how many and I asked if they had a table. Never asked for how many but then proceeded to wander off for 10 minutes walking back and forth with plates and making up a table (maybe they were skeleton crewing to save money). However his general demeanour was very unfriendly and not at all welcoming. Server was nicer although again not really well trained. We ordered a bottle of wine and waited for a very long time. Wine arrived and we ordered our food. Food arrived almost 45 minutes later. Steak was not the NY strip loin I ordered but a cheaper end cut of meat. Also was not cooked to order. Extremely rare even though ordered it medium well. The worst is yet to come though, my son order ribs and they seemed like they were very old cuts of meat but at the time he was so hungry he ate the lot. 3am that night I awoke to my son violently throwing up same ribs and suffering acute food poisoning. Poor experience, party of five, had lunch two people ordered the same chicken sandwiches. They were to salty to eat, the waitress was great, took back the sandwiches and returned with a replacement meal. Our server was nice, but didn't listen to how we wanted our steaks. We sent them back and asked them to make them Chicago style (like we ordered), when they came back they were raw inside. We didn't eat them and they still charged us for them. The manager was aware of the issue and did not make the effort to show he cared (we even watched him shake his head when the server notified him of the issue). The menu was asian inspired grill - we had the specials of the day: spring rolls + sushi, and the Asian BBQ Salmon. The special spring roll was quite delicious, but the sushi was nothing special. The Asian BBQ Salmon was good, but the accompaniment was only plan rice, a slice of carrot, one broccoli and a piece of orange pepper. The waitress was very pleasant and cheerful. She was attentive, checking in on us several times through out the meal. If you're looking for a pretty-nice/intimate restaurant, this place is great. If you're looking for large portions and cheap food, try somewhere else. Note: The bar areas included in these Yelp photos are out-of-date. Great Cesar salad with Ahi tuna. Was nicely grilled and the dressing was fantastic. Just the right amount of capers to boot. Excellent Christmas dinner. Reservations were easy. Service was great- very helpful and prompt. Dinner was wonderful as well, reasonably priced for a 3 course meal. Sorry but it can be good but it is barely good regularly. Thing is it isn't regular for service or food. I find it funny that management are attempting to bartend and manage any cash as it just makes a busy night frustrating to us paying customers. Said simply, it takes far to long to get service or good food. I have been served a breakfast skillet with non of the promised hollandaise. They had run out but served it hoping we would not notice and when we did it was our fault. It was replaced with a very mediocre sandwich. The number of times I have been left begging, looking for, service wit an empty glass is discouraging. Then again they didn't bother bussing a table last year and the 6 other people at the table could even have a place to put their burger order, the burger was just ok. When it arrived they just pushed it into the empties and walked away. They never even asked if was ok later. Must have been a bit embarrassed. Oh I have tried and tried season after season. I just give up now and after blaming another bad night of service on me I am truly done. Don't worry I will not be back. Our table for 9 was booked several weeks before our arrival. We checked in at. 6.30 pm with four hungry tired kids. The meal arrived over an hour after we ordered by which time the kids had fallen asleep at the table and we were becoming quite agitated. Waiter did his best to appease us by telling us the restaurant had many big parties to cater for (er not really when looking around us). Food arrived and was non descript. There was a huge gap between one dish arriving and the next. Don't know why it took so long for what had clearly been prepared and kept warm earlier in the day. I went to Black Diamond for breakfast with some friends. When we arrived it was at 20% capacity. It took over an hour for our food to arrive. Many in our party ordered eggs benedict and it was the worst I had ever had. A tiny two inch piece of shaved ham sat under eggs that looked like they had been thrown on the plate, and precious little holland aisle that was so thin it soaked into the English muffin. Someone in our party complained and asked the speak to the manager, and the owner appeared which waswhen things went from bad to worse, much much worse. Don Hickson the owner refused to take the food back and was hostile and aggressive with my friend. When my friend insisted that he was not eating the truly sad meal the owner became very angry and told my friend "that was bullsh@t". We were aghast at his escalating anger and my friend had to insist they take the conversation elsewhere out of respect for the other patrons something the owner never considered. None of us had ever imagined hospitality management would swear at a customer on the floor in front of customers. The service was also awful. I sat with my dirty plate in front of me for 40 minutes after all others were bussed off, and the waitress was unable to recall what we had eaten and came to the table to interview us to get our order straight so she could get our bills to us 15 minutes later. Incompetence was present in the food prep, service and management/ ownership. A place like this could only survive in the tourist trade as repeat customers are very unlikely. 21/2 hrs for breakfast. Half the ski day was gone by the time we got out of the place. BEWARE read more
