Kids got a chef's hat while making their pizzas
    Richard F.

Back in February my family and friends visited your restaurant and had the best time and easily the best food at Big White. While there, the owner came out and asked us if we were enjoying our visit. I made a comment about how I liked his Thirsty Beaver shirt and he went to check if the brewery still had any in stock. They did not, so what happened? He came out with HIS shirt in a bag as well as brought out the chef with the recipe for their Crown Royal Salmon (which we absolutely loved). My kids got chef's hats and got to make their own pizza. Definitely their favorite place at the resort.

Perfect ambiance for a mountain restaurant. Food was very good and it was easy to get in with no reservation.

This place has good drinks and TVs. Nice place to hang out but the food is atrocious.

Review Visit: July 16th, 2015…read more The Cowardly Lion may find some courage here after three drinks. What do you do in a little town that doesn't have much to do? You visit the bars, of course! That is what my cousin and I did on this particular day. After we woke up and figured out the plans for the day, we headed in to town to see what could kill an afternoon. After walking around for about 45 minutes and visiting a few shops, the Three Lions Pub reared its head. Feeling a bit parched in the summer sun, we wandered in for a cool refreshing beverage. I was expecting your typical bar that hasn't seen upgraded in years. One that has it's own unique smell/feel to it. What we got was a bar inspired by British Culture. It reminded me of the Fox Pub in Peoria, IL. Lots of British decor strewn about the place. I knew this place was awesome from just the theme. While we were there, we took stroll around the bar to fully take it in. This was a place I wish we had back home. It just felt like a place you and your friends would love to come to for hanging out. Andy and I grabbed a seat at the bar and decided that while in Canada we would try some beer that we can't get at home. After looking over the beers available and trying to figure out what beer was what, we both settled on a Rickers Red. It was on tap and the pour lever was right in front of us. The hearty bartender filled two glasses and put them down in front of us. This beer was a red that would've made a vampire jealous. It was a semi-dark red that wasn't unlike blood from a small cut. Andy and I cheered our beers to making it to Nakusp safe and sound and we started drinking. The first sip was the one to adjust your taste buds and mind to the new and exciting flavors. The gulps that came after were because it was dang delicious. We both enjoyed every sip and every gulp we took. Before too long, our tall beers were gone and our body well-rested in the cooled environment. It wasn't until I wrote this blog that I learned this place sold food as well. Whether that is from the bar or the seemingly attached restaurant, I don't know. I would assume the restaurant, though. I am bummed that I will probably never return to Nakusp to find out what they offer for food and see if they also offer British varieties.

Asked for honey mustard dip and got some other strange concoction. The potato skins were equally as dry, burnt and tasteless. The server (Lee) debated everything we asked her. I'm a connoisseur of fine food and this food was disgusting. I almost just got up and left when I saw what it looked like and should have left after tasting the first bite! Also, terrible service! She did nothing when she saw that I left my meal. Took her 30 minutes to clear the table when we got there and 40 minutes to get our terrible meal. Very slow considering the place was not busy. A complete waste of time and 2 appetizers definitely not worth $40! Will never go back and do not recommend.

Kettle Creek Restaurant Après Tea served 2-5 pm Thu and Sun…read moreonly. For the price, and the location - excellent. More food than I was expecting, and surprisingly good! And the service and presentation were pleasant. Having had the gold standard, "High Tea" at the Empress in Victoria, I'm spoiled. Comparatively, the flavors weren't strong, tart, and dry enough to complement the tea. Although the smoked duck canapé was terrific, the cucumber sandwich was mediocre, not crisp and light. The egg salad was heavy and gooey (maybe it could have had a touch of curry?), and there's nothing high-brow about a sun-dried tomato tortilla wrap. The scones were good with cream and jam. But not quite the dry, flaky, baking-powder taste that makes you crave more tea. The jam was good, but not the tart strong flavor like a freezer raspberry jam that complements tea well. The desserts were the best part, and who can argue with that? Delicious flavorful (but not overpoweringly so) morsels with, variously, ginger or berries or crème caramel or truffle. And lots of them, and just the right miniature size, so you taste a lot of variety but don't feel like you've over-eaten. My refill of tea was with the original tea bag, so it was undrinkable, and the teapot was the typical heavy diner style that never pours well and drips backwards with every pour. Nothing delicate about this teapot. The right spout to pour tea has been around for centuries - why do restaurants always get such lousy ones? But I digress. Who's to quibble with details Who's only $20 for all this in a beautiful mountain setting? Well worth it and I'd come again.

The price this restaurant is set at does not match its location and atmosphere. The food was good, streak cooked perfect and they even separated it for us but came out really cold.
