    Fried Fish & Shrimp

The place is nice & cozy to stay in, it has AC - considering I spent yesterday being miserable while waiting for dinner without it, it's a godsend in this weather. Sadly, it all fell apart once I actually got my food. I got the fried fish & shrimp and it's incredible how the breading can stay on something so soft and mushy. If you're into this kind of fish, the lack of texture & structure seems to be consistent with the grilled fish as well from what my family told me. I ate about half the fish but couldn't stomach myself to finish it. An option to cook it more would've been nice, as it seems some like this kind. Unfortunate for myself, though. Wish I did.

Visiting from Dallas because Dallas doesn't have Rockefeller Oysters... I didn't notice that nobody else in the restaurant ordered oysters. I was the only one. Needless to say I got food poisoning over the oysters that were baked - Not the raw ones... baked. So my mission to searching out Rockefeller Oysters on my trip - has been ruined. I smell seafood and my stomach turns.

Excellent service, hometown feel environment, and delicious food! Trifecta! My husband was in a mood for seafood. We started driving and came across this local gem thanks to other yelpers! The blackened fish sandwich with speciality bun was noted as most folks favorites, so we tried it. We both added tartar sauce which tasted homemade. Side of fries, very delicious and perfect crunch. I added grilled jalapeños and pickles to my sandwich, because why not. Both sandwiches were freshly made, right off the stove but perfect temperature to consume and enjoy! Flaky sway fish, blackened to perfection and seasoned to taste. Our drinks of choice were the Arnold Palmer and they nailed that too. Perfect mixed of sweet tea and lemonade, which also tastes freshly made but I don't know for sure. Your taste buds will thank you and my husband said and I quote "this is best fish sandwich I've had in the US". That's saying a lot considering his food preferences. Thank you so much AK for the hospitality and kindness. She made our first time very enjoyable with her service. Grateful we found another local gem and can't wait to return! Until next time...

Came in for the first time based on a recommendation from a friend. The restaurant is right before you cross over the bridge to Port A. We were able to take advantage of lunch and it was a Friday so we got $0.50 off our beers. The gumbo was good but it was a bit greasy. The lunch special was a good value but we got the shrimp sandwich and there were only 5 shrimp in the sandwich. The bread was toasted and super tasty. I got my sandwich with a salad but I tried the fries on another plate and they were delicious!! It was a good experience and Nico was our waitress and she was great. Will definitely be back.

LOVED our experience at Black Diamond Oyster Bar! Cozy and comfortable atmosphere with super friendly folks. We were lucky enough to have AK as our server! We got the oysters New Orleans and each got a special: for me the Coconut shrimp with rice pilaf and Cole slaw, my husband the blackened drum fish with shrimp, crab and a delicious cream sauce. Delicious! Would highly recommend!!

I forgot to take photos of our entrees. We went with the oyster trio with the cocktail sauce topping being my favorite. I was not as fan of the Parmesan topped oyster. There wasn't much flavor to it. We also decided to try the shrimp and oyster entree served with fries plus an order of fried pickles. We also ordered a side salad and asked for thousand island dressing but instead got the tar tar sauce. Apparently, it's what they had in place of thousand island which we thought was odd. We switched it to ranch dressing. Service was great. Our waitress attended to us well. Not a bad place if you're in the mood for oysters.

This is a hidden gem. The food was outstanding, service was excellent. They have great daily specials and fresh seafood. They had mocktails for the kids and our cocktails were delicious. Love the quaint setting too. Definitely plan to stop again next time we are in town.

Clean tables, good food. I don't ever leave reviews even when food & service is not great but this place needs recognition. The food definitely delivers

You're going to get some of the freshest seafood at this joint; why wouldn't you? This city is almost completely on water! My family was being a bunch of weirdos so I arrived alone, with my book--my guilty pleasure--a hood book, I won't disclose the title ;-)....i digress.... I grabbed a seat indoors. Outside seating was available; sounded like a madhouse that Sunday night. The live band was rocking! My waitress looked to be about 12; super adorable, very sweet. She checked in on me about every 13 seconds. Nothing too special about my salad but the ranch seemed to be of good quality. No hidden valley here! The oysters and pickles were lightly fried, no heavy batter, and seasoned just right. The snapper was the star of the show for It was a specialty of the day. I would've liked a few more crawfish in my etouffee for that $30 price tag, but I get....they have bills as do I! All in all, I enjoyed my visit. I loved the "down home, divey " feel. Black Diamond for the "W"!

We arrived on a Thursday around 6 p.m. for our first visit. Parking was easy, but the entrance was a little hard to find. There was no hostess stand near the front, so we had to wait by the door until someone came to seat us. The inside was small, but they had a patio that allowed dogs, which was perfect since we brought ours. The patio was comfortable with large fans that kept the air moving. There were bar stools and tables outside, and it wasn't too hot. Our server was nice, though she didn't tell us her name. She took our drink orders and let us know they had several local beers on tap. I ordered the Nueces Blood Orange. It was light, crisp, and had a nice citrus flavor. My wife ordered a Tito's with Sprite and lime, which came in a goblet. It was an interesting choice of glass. For food, we started with a dozen oysters. They were fresh and very good. My wife ordered the ahi tuna nachos with ginger aioli. They were delicious and came in a big portion that could easily be a full meal. The dish had pickled jalapeños, which she didn't love, but it wasn't enough to ruin the dish. I had the fish and shrimp. The white fish was light and flaky with a crispy batter that wasn't soggy. The Gulf shrimp were large and fresh with a crunchy, slightly oily coating. For dessert, we took home a slice of key lime pie and a slice of butter pecan pie. Both were made from scratch and really good. The butter pecan pie was especially rich and full of flavor. Overall, the food was excellent and the service was good. Being able to bring our dogs made it even better. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town.

Came around 1400 and was promptly seated. We were given the option for indoor/outdoor/bar seating and ended up choosing outdoor as it wasn't too hot out. Our server Kaitlynn was very nice, attentive, and always kept our drinks full. Both the coconut shrimp and the special were both really fresh. Sides were also on point. I expected the fries to be bland but it had a good amount of flavor along with the veggies and rice. The food we ordered was more than enough leaving us without room for dessert but there is always next time. Tldr: 10/10, food was great, would eat here again

Staff was very nice and accommodating and sat a big party of 15 with a decent wait time of 30 minutes with a packed restaurant! Sat outside and was nice and cool and had fans around. Food was pretty good and everything came out correct! Great place to come with family!

A shot wait on the deck out front, a chance to chat and we were called in. Being a summer day, the doors were open to the back deck and it creates a breezy, airy environment. Wife ordered the Seafood Lover's plate...a little of each of their fried offerings and I ordered a ribeye plate (prices at market prices)...a little surprise on the market price came with the bill. The service was on point, not too frequent and the food arrived in very reasonable time given the number of diners. My steak was a little on the gristle-y side though cooked perfectly and the flavor was fantastic. The baby potatoes were great. The green beans included were a bit over seasoned with the garilc...some heat I didn't expect. Wife thought her entrées were great. She had some leftovers...not me. So the price is what docks a star. It was a little surprise since the price for my meal wasn't on the menu...I guess I should have asked. I've not paid quite that much at a couple of steakhouses in town. But it WAS a good steak. We're already ready with what we'll order on our next visit.

Every meal that came to the table looked fantastic and was cooked perfectly. The fish tacos were fresh and flavorful, the shrimp dishes were delicious, and even the burgers and fries received rave reviews. The drinks were equally impressive, with refreshing cocktails and non-alcoholic options that complemented the meal perfectly. What really stood out was the service. Despite our large party, the staff was attentive, friendly, and kept everything running smoothly. Food arrived promptly, drinks stayed filled, and we never felt overlooked. The restaurant itself was also clean, welcoming, and well-maintained, creating a comfortable atmosphere for both adults and children. Padre Island Burger Company gets a solid 3/5 from yours truly, and honestly mate, I'm being…read moregenerous because the atmosphere and seaside setting did a fair bit of heavy lifting. let me explain myself properly. This place screams modern tourist burger joint. The sort of establishment where every burger arrives with twelve unnecessary toppings, a quirky name, and a price tag that makes you briefly consider checking your credit score before ordering. Quite frankly the place should be renamed "Upcharge Central" or perhaps "Tourist Burgers Built for Photos, Not Stomachs" The outdoor seating itself is lovely though. Proper island atmosphere. Wooden picnic tables, sea breeze rolling through, cold drinks sweating in the Texas heat, tourists waddling about sunburnt and optimistic. It's the kind of setting where you want the burger to absolutely save your afternoon. Unfortunately... Mine did the complete opposite. I ordered their "world famous" Lulu Burger, their take on a jalapeño popper burger, and I genuinely believe it may have been one of the worst burgers I've had in the last couple years. Now look, I'm not against creativity. I enjoy innovation. But somewhere along the line society decided burgers needed to become science experiments. The moment that completely sent me over the edge? A massive slab of cold cream cheese slapped directly onto the burger. Not melted. Not slightly warm. Not blended into the burger. No mate. Refrigerator cold. The sort of cold where you could practically still see the HEB dairy aisle condensation on it. Completely threw off the texture and turned every bite into a confusing mess of hot beef meeting Arctic dairy product. Absolutely criminal behaviour. Now to be fair, my lovely date ordered the Hangover Burger which was noticeably better. Fried egg, bacon, cheesy goodness, all the things you'd expect after a rough Friday evening involving tequila and poor decisions. Still overpriced for what it was, but at least it tasted like somebody in the kitchen had a coherent vision. The sweet potato fries were actually quite decent as well. Crisp edges, soft middle, solid seasoning. No complaints there. Maybe I'm old school. Maybe I'm too particular. But when I think burger joint, my mental checklist is simple: Hot burger. Balanced toppings. Quality beef. Reasonable price. No culinary jump scares. And unfortunately this place missed the mark on several fronts. 3/5. Lovely atmosphere, decent service, and a fun island vibe, but the burgers themselves simply didn't justify the hype or the price tag.
