Katsu Curry
Grace K.

We've been going to Black Forest for years. It's an absolute must if you're visiting Three Lakes. Tonight we had the Katsu Curry and the Bruschetta, which is relatively new to the menu. I enjoyed both. I do recommend getting extra bread for the Bruschetta. Our service was great all around. The whole staff were friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend!

Outstanding.  Some of the most outstanding hospitality we've experienced in the Northwoods.  Black Forest Pub & Grille was a real treat tonight.  From the engaging conversation with Collin and Mike at the historic Bar to the vivacious charm of our server Kat - our food and dining experience far surpassed our expectations.  My seared Salmon was perfect and the handmade fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp was buttery and creamy.  Make the drive as soon as you can, you'll be glad you did.  Ask for Mike & Kat to enjoy their enthusiasm and Northwoods hospitality.

Jagerschnitzel and pizza.

Fried pickle intriguing and unique. I just kept coming back for more but also made us thirsty. Pretzel sticks are simple and good. Cheese is a little Spicy. Jagerschnitzel is where it's at! Chocolate Lava cake was also solid. Pizza was decent but I hold pizza to a high standard. Prolly the most expensive but best place in town I'd bet.

Great service and delicious food. Their Friday night fish fry is so tasty! I ordered the perch which came with red cabbage (subbed the potato), cole slaw, and homemade rye bread.

Great German atmosphere. Gemutlichkeit!

Really great experience at this German Northwoods gem in Three Lakes. Loved the atmosphere. Bar is gorgeous with the wood and German steins. They have a variety of German dishes and several other items for kids and those that don't love German food as I do. Service was friendly. I had a great time.

We decided to try black forest grill because of the online reviews. We were pleasantly surprised when we came in because of the interesting atmosphere and architecture. The experience continued with the menu: extremely traditional German dishes along side of traditional Northwoods and American Biestro favorites. We decided try to try the perch fish fry - which turned out to be amazing, best in the Northwoods. The German cuisine was thoroughly authentic and compromised nothing. Service was very pleasant very friendly and helpful in every way. I highly recommend the Black Forest!!

Food was good. I had the pork shank which was good and very tender mashed potatoes and sauerkraut.

We found this place by chance and so walked in without reservations. They initially turned us away…read morebut with further discussion and a few cocktails at the bar eventually made room to accommodate us. As with many cases this season they were very short staffed and trying to offer good service to those that had made reservations. Our server had several tables including one of 16 people. I can't believe how good the service ended up being with Karen our waitress. As a seasoned vet in this Industry she was on top of everything. Additionally the food was Breyer than I had hoped for. We all started with the salad bar which was clean and organized. They did end up running out of ranch dressing which was a disappointment but that was the only thing that fell short the entire evening. After the salads the four of us has the French onion soup which was better than most I've had. This was followed by our main course. Two of us has the 10 oz. Fillets, on had the 16oz ribeye and lastly one liver and onions. All the steaks were fabulous and the liver was also good from what I hear. There was no rushing, Karen our server timed out servings perfectly and the evening turned out spectacular. A big kudos to the Manager for getting us in. This will be a part of our rotation moving forward. Don't forget to make reservations!

We've been coming here for 14 years, but after our latest visit, we won't be back. A few years ago,…read morethe restaurant changed ownership. They remodeled the interior, and while some may like the update, we miss the old-school supper club atmosphere. The menu has also been cut down and is now pretty bare bones. The service was slow even though the restaurant wasn't busy. We waited over 30 minutes for our food, and they forgot our appetizer. The prices have increased, but the quality and value have definitely gone in the opposite direction. I always ordered the Pub Special and could never finish it because the portions were so generous. This time, the portion was noticeably smaller, the bun was soggy, the sandwich had no flavor, and the au jus was only lukewarm. To make matters worse, fries are now an extra charge. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. A place that was once one of our favorites has lost the atmosphere, quality, and value that kept us coming back for so many years. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.
