Very impersonal tried to talk to the guy behind the counter and he started at me as if I was an alien from another planet!

A Native American store, with a working photography studio in the back, the Black Fox holds many treasures to explore and discover. You can count yourself as something to be explored as Roy, a very sweet dog of mixed breed including Rhodesian Ridgeback, comes to greet you. Especially if you are dog-friendly, or just happen to have a good spirit, Roy will likely come visit you periodically as you make your way through the store. The music you hear is one of some rotating CDs of artists the store embraces. I really liked the south-western flute music. Reminding me what I'd sometimes hear at my favorite massage-therapist's place back in Chicago. A peaceful place with things like rugs, and toy animals and books and jewelry, too. And in the way back is the aforementioned photography studio. There, you'll find one more dog, who won't follow you because this big beautiful guy looks to be a large husky with a dash of polar bear. I wish I took his picture. I had hoped we'd return again for a more thorough trip through the store. This will have to wait til the next trip. But I'd recommend popping in, and having a look around yourself. read more

Hard to believe a place like this exists. The owner of this store is a complete fraud and scam artist. He prices his rings at 75%-100% mark up and completely lies about the quality of the jewelry. My close friend and I purchased two identical "sterling silver" with 14k gold rings priced at $144/each. The owner told us 20% off so we spent the money after falling in love with our new rings. We paid $110 for each ring given the fact he told us it was sterling silver and gold. We go to lunch across the street and after lunch we take our rings off and our fingers have a thick dark green ring around our fingers. He SPECIFICALLY SAID IT IS STERLING SILVER WITH GOLD. We walk back in the store and very politely asked for our money back. The store owner comes down and says he did not misrepresent the item at all. He then says it is bronze with silver overlay. I had 6 people with me that were there for the purchase and then this confrontation all of which heard him represent the rings as sterling silver with 14K gold. The mention of silver overlay never once left his mouth. We were in disbelief by how we were treated in front of all the other customers in his store. We paid $220.00 for two rings that are worth no more then $40 a piece. It is extremely unfortunate that I have this costume jewelry that cost me so much more then it was worth. I asked the owner for a measly $40 back each or our money back. He laughed and offered us $100 back and he would keep BOTH RINGS, so the two of us would have been out $120 total. He said that was more then fair for a re-stocking fee. Please do not shop at this store, the owner is a disgusting piece of filth and should never be allowed to do business in Big Bear Lake. The smell in this store is beyond disgusting. I have had my house here for 25 years and have never had such an miserable experience before. Love the pieces at this store, I just dislike the piece of "man" working there. On Sunday October 1st 2017 at around 4:45 pm we walked inside the store, excited to buy some Quartz and other goodies but the "guy" working there is a complete a-hole! Not coming back! When I asked if he works there he said "no, I work next door" Then my mother in law wanted a necklace and j was gonna buy for her, I said in Spanish to her "that's beautiful it looks like it's handmade" I asked him "is it handmade?" and he replied "we don't know if any machine that can make those" He had a horrible attitude. We just walked away and I got my Quartz and other good stuff from the store across the street. read more

Eclectic joint in a tourist town, got some sweet artisan playing cards from the very quirky and knowledgeable shop owner. Can't speak to the crabby jewelry people on this thread, but the playing cards are sweet and the magic display in the back is like stepping into a time machine to the early 1900s. read more

This place is a must visit for Big Bear. Indy is very knowledgeable about playing cards and generous in showing us a magic trick. It is a great place to buy sage. Their rings are beautiful. read more

I wont step foot in this store again. My boyfriend and I stopped in to pick up a magnet souvenir for my mom. I choose one and went up to the register. The guy, Millner (as stated cashier on my receipt), told me there was a $10. Minimum purchase for credit cards. Reluctantly I chose another magnet. In the process we had a brief conversation, In which he complained about the charges he gets for credit purchases. I tried to save him some $$ on the charge and told him to process it as debit, not realizing I gave him my credit card. Then I apologized telling him I didn't bring my debt. card with me. Millner proceeded to ring me up. He looked at my card and read my last name and said, "Oh..that's why." I said, "What the hell does that mean?" To no response from him. Not only did I have to spend more $ on my purchase, but I also was insulted at the register. This guy needs to be schooled on customer service and learn not to disrespect someone on their heritage. What he didn't realize was that I am actually part American Indian, dont let the last name fool you. read more

One star is to high, this guy sold me a $145 silver and gold ring and I turned my finger green and was just brass, when I tried returning it her refused and said he would only give me store credit. read more

DO NOT SHOP HERE. I have never experienced such an insane rip off accompanied by horribly rude mistreatment by a store owner. Two good friends of mine were flat out lied to by the owner, who said a pair of rings they were interested were "sterling silver with gold overlay". They purchased the rings and quickly realized their mistake when they had dark green marks on their fingers after only thirty minutes wearing them - (which is something that happens from wearing poor quality rings of brass or copper). We returned only an hour later and politely asked for some money back or a refund, only to be yelled at and eventually asked to leave by an unbelievably rude store owner. I have worked in retail for years and to see such a disregard for the needs of the customer truly astonishes me. read more

Located in the village, this store is my type of store! They have everything I love, from dream catchers, cowboy theme items, turquoise rings and such. Black Fox Trading Post has unique items and also great for souvenirs. The lady who helped us was very helpful and patient when it comes to finding the right jewelry we want. read more

I really can't say much about this store except it smells like cigarette smoke so bad!!!! I walked in and the smell was so strong I thought it was a smoke shop.. How is it possible to have a place of business full of cigarette smoke. I had to turn around and walk out... I would get sick if I stayed in there. I think a health inspector should go check this place out!!! read more

This is the only shop in big bear that I will never go inside again. . The town needs to have the business shut down for horrible business practices including fraud, deception and lies. They sell jewelery claiming it's"real" . It's real crap. Turns your skin green and then offers no refund. read more

I purchased a 5 stone opal ring here, and a few days later 2 of the stones fell out. Disappointed, I called the store to see what they were willing to do about it. A woman named Heidi I think, called me back to try and remedy the situation. Long story short I was sent a new ring! I am beyond pleased with this company's customer service. I know they have a lot of bad reviews on here, but I think they are trying to turn their business in the right direction. read more
