This is as casual as it gets. Typical American bar/eatery for grabbing a quick bite and a drink. A giant bar spans a quarter of the entire indoor space. If you want water, there's a giant jug of it on the counter. Help yourself to some plastic cups. Super loud ambiance, due to bar TVs and people talking really loudly. In such open space, sound carries. Prepare to talk really loudly and strain to hear your conversation partners. The background music was nice--all the classy rock, pop, and modern hits bringing you nostalgia from the better days. A few outdoor tables available, if you'd like to people watch in good weather. Service is fast, staff are very efficient. We got $20 ribs special and $18 chicken sandwich panini. I was surprised that both were decent. Fries were not too salty nor greasy and not heavy at all (surprise). Ribs were tender and fell off the bone easily. They were served in sweet BBQ sauce. Instead of fries, I got salad--which was just a few lettuce leaves from a pre sold supermarket salad bag, so be warned. Chicken panini sandwich was the unanticipated standout of our meal--massive chicken breasts that were tender and well grilled were nestled between tasty toppings. This is a local spot around where I live and a friend and I decided we needed a place that had plenty of seating and space to go watch a game from the euros during the day. We got here right before 3pm on a weekday before the game started and there were plenty of spots at tables and by the bar that had views of the tvs. Started off with some apple cider beers and I ordered a chicken Parmesan panini which I honestly have never heard of. My friend had an order of nachos with chicken but I didn't get a photo of it. The chicken parm really blew me away, having it pressed in a panini was very good, crunchy toasted bread with parm covered chicken was one of the best things I had eaten in a while. This was my second time here in two weeks. Tonight I decided to go for the Traditional Burger with American cheese and a non-Alcoholic Guinness to wash it down. I was super impressed with the cheese burger! It was properly flavored and cooked medium-well (just how I wanted it). And the side of French fries was extremely tasty and perfectly salted. I used to really like this place. I'm English and it was a good pub. I had the fish n chips with a friend on Saturday and it was awful. The fries were overfried shoestring not fat English chips, the fish was fried in fried chicken batter not a beer batter and more batter than fish. There was a side of remoulade and lime?? where's my lemon? I don't like tartare sauce, but that's traditional and we had to ask 3 times before the waitress understood what malt vinegar was. A great neighborhood bar! The service was great, they have a good selection of beers and a number of cocktails, and the food is pretty good. The nachos were the best out of what we ordered, lots of toppings that were all good. An order of mozzarella sticks was pretty large (8-10?) and came with a nice sauce, although a little watery. The chicken wings I would not order again, they were not crispy but did have a good amount of meat on them, and something seemed off about the buffalo sauce. I mentally noted this place while walking by it as a good place to eat out doors. This weekend, we are finally graced with some decent weather and I thought now would be a great time to try it out! When we arrived there were already people sitting outside but still a good amount of seats available. We sat down right away and was greeted by our server who presented us the menus. Their menu is quite large. A lot of selections to choose from. They even have breakfast on the weekends but it's only available before 2 pm. We tried ordering a breakfast burrito at 210 but It was already too late. They are pretty strict on that I guess. We ended up ordering the buffalo cauliflower, fish tacos and crab cake salad. Buffalo cauliflower was by far my favorite of all the dishes. It was perfectly crispy and not falling apart. It was hot and soft on the inside with the perfect amount of buffalo sauce. I was thoroughly impressed they made this boring vegetable into such an amazing palat pleaser. The fish tacos on the other hand was not as spectacular. First it was not even a taco. They really need to fix the name on the menu. The "taco" was a wrap. There were 4 pieces and it came with fries. The wrap overall was a little too soggy. The inside was too wet. Believe it or not it was also lacking avocados! Fries were decent though. Crab cakes were not bad. The salad itself was lacking but the crab cakes made up for it. Came in for Super Bowl Sunday around 3:30 PM thinking it would be packed but it wasn't! We had a group of 7 so we wanted to secure some seats. They had a Super Bowl platter for $45 for 8 mozzarella sticks, veggie nachos, fries, 6 piece chicken wings, 6 piece chicken tenders, and 6 piece beef empanadas but no one told us it was an option starting at 6 PM until much later. They also had some drink options on that special menu so ALWAYS ASK ABOUT THE SPECIALS! Overall, good food and plenty of TVs to watch the game on. A no frills bar/pub that's good if you don't know what you want to eat. They have a pretty decent menu with lots to choose from. Please keep in mind this place is a bar so the music can get loud and the TV is always on so it can be distracting. The few times I've eaten here it was always with family so my kid is with us. During lunch and early dinner, you will see lots of family with kids eating here so it's kind of the norm here in south slope. The chicken fingers are always a hit with kids, nicely fried without drying out the chicken. The shrimp salad is ok. The nachos are delicious but don't get steak since it's probably a cheaper cut of meat and comes out too dry. Their fried calamaris are amazing and we get those every time we come here. read more

No muss no fuss sort of pub. Decorated for the holiday season, and with holiday cocktails as well, which I really appreciate! I had the burger and it was just ok, bit over done, but still hit the spot well enough. There's also a decent amount of Mexican food on the menu, which I'd be curious to try. The food has substantially declined in quality over the past few months. We used to eat at Black Horse at least once a week, but the last three visits were so disappointing. Things You Can Do At Black Horse: 1. Drink good beer. They have a solid selection, even if I opt for Guinness (they pour it right) or liquor most of the time. 2. Order a humongous plate of nachos to share with all your friends, and then eat them all when your friends don't want any of your delicious nachos. 3. Make new friends, because why would you be friends with people that don't want nachos? Lorenzo is the man. He brings me beer and fried food. I'm going to be friends with Lorenzo. 4. Watch all the sports. Soccer for sure, the Olympics, football, bowling, and more if soccer isn't on (or on a limited number of TVs if it is). 5. Eat all the bar food. Mozz sticks, chicken fingers, fries, sandwiches, burgers, wings...they have all these things, and they do a better than average job. They also delve into more British favorites like bangers and mash, fish and chips, and a full English breakfast on the weekends. 6. Rejoice when the ~70 year-olds with you agree to take a shot because they thought you meant take a photo, and watch them drink more Jameson in one go than they've had in their entire life. Everything about this place was bad: the server was a total b*tch - she couldn't even open her mouth to say hello, greet me and my kids; the food was absolutely disgusting - the chicken empanadas tasted like sand; the bbq wings were hardly coated and the chicken was also undercook; and the fries were soggy. The ambience caters to white geriatric millennials who couldn't afford Williamsburg or the "real" Park Slope. Ugh!! This was a spur of the moment lunch and it did not disappoint. We only tried two items from the menu but could have easily ordered about 4 other things. Everything sounded so good. We went for the monster nachos and the buffalo chicken wrap and they were both delicious! The chicken on the monster nachos was piled high & so moist and flavorful! No regrets here on this one. The buffalo chicken wrap was also very good. I think it had a bit too much buffalo sauce but that's just my personal opinion/preference when it comes to sauce. Being from the area I usually frequent here for a few drinks. Today I just happened to be off and was able to look for some lunch in the arena. I ended up coming here, which was a great choice. I had a beer and the grilled shrimp salad. My fiancé had the fish tacos. Both dishes were excellent, especially for pub food. The salad had a generous portion of grilled shrimps, bacon, avocados, and other vegetables. The bacon was cooked perfectly and crispy. Unfortunately my fiancé was extra hungry and did not offer me a bite of her fish tacos, but I'm assuming that was good too since she didn't leave any crumbs. BHP is my go to spot for a casual nights out, quicl drink, snack, meal or all of the above. The food selection is extensive, about 20 choices on tap, and a full bar. One of my favorite parts avout it is it's always poppin but rarely packed so they're always a spot. The food: My favorite things here are the wings, the tomato soup with cheese dippers and the shepherd's pie, im that order. While I am no expert, these are the best damn wings I've had. The food may take a bit longer to come out than I'd like but quality is worth waiting for. The portions are always just slightly more than you need. The drinks: Your standard alcoholic beverages. I haven't had anything that's not available anywhere else but all the drinks are consistently on point. The atmosphere: In the afternoon it's very chill. A great place for lunch. In fact my team does our offsite management training sessions here because it's close to the office. The music is kicking and doesn't just repeat Top 40. There are plenty of TVs playing all kinds of content, mostly sports, but I did catch NCIS here before. The place is good when flying solo or with a large group. If the weather is nice, catch the outdoor seating and watch the bustle of 5th avenue. The service: some of the friendliest bartenders around. For some reason I don't often make my way to Brooklyn. On this occasion, I was in a neighborhood I was no familiar with and so I obviously used yelp to help pick a place to eat. I am so glad the reviews for this pub were accurate. Its fantastic. My girlfriend and I sat down for a quick bite to eat, but did not drink anything. I was driving that night so am sad I could not have a quick beer at this amazing bar because it is exactly my vibe. We sat down and ordered some food, which was absolutely amazing. I was not expecting great food from a bar like this, but i was very pleasantly surprised. The fajitas were great and the bacon on the mac and cheese was quite possibly the best I had ever had. There are only minor negatives holding this great pub from a 5 star review. First, the service was a bit slow, but expected as we were not seated at the bar. I'm so glad this bar is still able to operate during covid. We stumbled upon it while walking through park slope. The menu was well priced and the food sounded delicious. We started off by ordering a beer and an apple cider with chips/guac. For the main dish, I got the "BALT" panini which is essentially a BLT but with avocado and a yummy garlic aioli sauce. It was... truly just spectacular. It was so delicious!!! We also got the chicken quesadilla and that was delicious too! The service was also so nice! Our waiter was very friendly and checked up on us regularly. Also- for whatever reason we got tequila shots (on the house!) at the end?!!!!!!!??! No idea why but we were obviously so thrilled! We dropped by Friday night to watch some college basketball. This pub had like a dozen TVs showings all the games. Definitely a great space to watch the game. You could pretty much see almost every game from any seat in the bar and you could definitely get a great view of at least a couple games from any seat. We had a few beers and some snacks. The beer selection includes mostly macros with some craft macro favorites like Bells Two Hearted and Dogfish 60 minute. Couple of local options too from Montauk, Coney Island, and possibly a couple others. We shared the monster nachos and the tomato soup with grilled cheese. I'd recommend both.
