This place is great! I feel that Hung is honest and responsive. I needed to fix my 2018 Chevy Volt for thermostat housing and thermostat. He quoted me 675$ but ended up charging me only 362$. It's been a week and a half now, and no more check engine light, and the car is not telling Mr it will overheat. Hung is a Godsend! We moved to San Diego three years ago finding a mechanic that was honest, reliable and didn't overcharge was really important to us. It's like finding a good and honest doctor or dentist. We started having trouble with our 2010 Camry as soon as we moved. We went to several other mechanics who couldn't figure out what was happening to our oil burning noise making engine. After 2 years of wasted time and money with other mechanics we found Hung! He diagnosed the car right away and prepared us for the inevitable, a new engine. Some advice: pay attention to recalls on your cars we didn't and now we needed a new engine! What I really appreciate about Hung is he charges a fair price, his honesty and he is not high pressure sales! When we finally got the engine replaced he completed the work quickly and helped us with a rental while it was being worked on! Lastly a great example of his honesty we took our 2014 Chevy Silverado truck because the check engine light went on. It was the catalytic converter. He told us to check the warranty on it because the dealership should cover it. We did just that and found that we were still under warranty. I think it would be safe to say that he saved us $2000!!! We already trusted him never thought of checking warranty we would have paid him the $2000 but he directed us to what was best for us! That is hard to find! The review have to be fake or was reviewed by employee, owner friends and family. let me just say that I got charge more , suggested that I need repair more on parts and when I left the shop my car is not even fixed at all. I heard that about half of all auto mechanics were dishonest and I initially chose this shop based on a 5 star yelp review. Let me start by saying that these reviews are fake. Yes, it is always a risk that a business may post fake reviews possibly through the help of friends and family. I came in for an A/C service. I asked for him to evacuate the freon and check with gauges to see if everything was working properly. My A/c was by no means broken. It worked great. Just 1 in 10 times, I had to drive 6-7 miles for it to kick in so I had some suspicions. This auto shop does not provide receipts. They take your cash and don't report to the IRS. This was my first red flag. The owner reassured me that he returned the freon that he took out but I am back at my regular mechanics shop just 24 hours later and they say that there is no freon! Not only that, the owner tried to get me for two more big jobs that he claimed were urgent. He said my compressor was bad. Nothing wrong with it here at the other mechanic! He also claimed that I need a new rear shock because it was leaking. Nothing wrong here at the other mechanic. I am sure that a new compressor and condenser would have cost me around $400 on Amazon. The shock absorber would costed me $80 at oreilly. Thankfully, I can return the shock however the total cost of unnecessary repairs would have been substantial . This heist could have been $1000 plus. The owner is a tricky guy too because he throws in some good recommendations just to confuse you. The rear brakes did need replacing. This was correct however the amount of potential unnecessary repairs clearly is much greater that the legitimate repairs. My advice. Avoid this shop at all costs. Stealing during a covid pandemic is not only dishonest,It is heartless! I am unemployed and need every dollar. These are stressful times and this shop is unethical and tricky. I am surprised that the USPS have their trucks here. They are on the verge of bankruptcy. Not only does this owner most likely does not report his total income, he may be stealing government money from the USPS. Now I will do everything in my power to alert the USPS of this business as well as the IRS. One last word of advice. The owner kept on reassuring me that he will take good care of me. In reality, he only cares about his own bottom line. He only cares about making money at the expense of customers during the worst possible time. I even told him that I was unemployed and I need to be cost conscious. People like this lack character. read more

We are so thankful for Hung and the service he provides. We had an older Buick that unfortunately needed a lot of work. His prices were always reasonable and he happily stayed late (past closing) several times for us to pick up our car. We then decided to buy a new (used) car. He inspected 5 used Camrys for us in one week. He was very thorough on his inspections and saved us from buying a bad car. When we brought one in that he told us to buy, we did! After the manager, Hung gave me a quote, I quickly called 2 other places with great reviews for BMW service and was quoted one slightly higher and one astronomically higher bid! Overall nice people, but I really doubt their skills on the cars. I went there for a smog fail test and they charged me $65 for that, which I think is kind of reasonable. However, the real problem is they told me that my coolant is probably leaking at the freeze plug so that coolant got into the catalytic converter and destroyed it. I was thinking, oh, freeze plug is at the back block of the engine, how could it even get into the combustion chamber or poured into the catalytic converter? I guess the only way for it to do that is a leaked head gasket? Then they showed me the part number online for the catalytic converter. However, since it's California, none of the aftermarket thing is legal. But they told me a whole wrong reason for that. The real reason is that the engine family number don't match, but what they pointed out to me is the Model Year on the VIN don't match, which sounds weird at the first place. So I wonder if they do know how that works lol. For the so-called diagnostic they just visual check the bottom of the car and come up with the conclusion. They don't even check the inlet and outlet temperature to see if the catalytic converter is actually out. Or do an check on the oxygen sensor to see if something else is wrong. I don't think it is the proper way to do that. So after that they suggest me retire the car, and they don't want to charge me for the aftermarket catalytic converter because they said it will still fail me. In this case I considered them as very honest guys. So overall, they are nice and honest, but probably need some improvement in the techniques and skills. Update: Add one star for they seeing this evaluation and call me back trying to resolve the misunderstanding. In the phone the technician explained that I misunderstand what they tried to told me. He stated that the freeze plug has nothing dealing with the catalytic converter, the cat is just simply out. And the freeze plug is leaking is some other issue. In this case, I think they hold their responsibilities on customers. However, still, I'm pretty sure they stated the issue wrong to me (they are not lying to me just probably didn't figure out the problem at the first place or just simply I listened wrong, which is not that likely), but considering their phone call, I do value them as good mechanics. read more
