We came here New Years Day. Its located in a side plaza of Katy Asia Town. Its very Vietnamese based seafood cuisine, reminiscent of street food I've had in Vietnam. We ordered grilled scallops, some tamarind sauce clams, fried frog legs, and fish sauce chicken wings. The flavors of the tamarind sauce wasn't to my liking but the owner was very attentive and nice and seemed like a family owned business. The food was well cooked but just not up my flavor alley. After coming from Los Angeles, I've been craving for something like it. Unfortunately, this place did not slap me with flavor. It was just okay. I came in around 2:30 on Thursday and it was very quiet with no other tables. We got a hello and didn't see our server for a good 5 min when we already knew what we wanted and were starving. We ordered the following: Balut in tamarind sauce Razor clams in garlic butter Scallops Blood clams in Thai basil Snails in tamarind Oysters half Italian half Vietnamese Grilled squid When I ordered the balut I thought it was steamed in a shell. I love it this way, but it came out fried then tossed in tamarind sauce. It was oddly satisfying but got very heavy after each bite. The sauce was flavorful. A nice snack to get started with your seafood The razor clams tasted like they came from a freezer, but there was a bit of a grainy after taste after eating it. The sauce with garlic butter wasn't as pungent as I'd like it. Scallops were probably my favorite thing here. It wasn't overcooked, it had fish roe and peanuts and it paired well with the sauce on the table. It was delicious. Blood clams in Thai basil was difficult to open, I hate how they were shut and you had to open them up with your fingers. If they had offered gloves, I'd be better about these. The sauce was mild, and the meat itself was very small and dry The snails were huge. It was cooked nicely and very tender. I liked it with the tamarind sauce especially. It takes the big meat smell away and it was easier to eat. The oysters were okay. The Italian ones were topped with cheese, the Vietnamese has the peanuts and scallion oil. The grilled squid was okay also. Wishing it looked like the photo, but that's alright. The green sauce it came with was very flavorful, but this thing took forever and there was barely a char on the squid. Overall, it was a solid 3 stars. The best dish was the fish chicken wings as they were full of meat, crispy and glazed with sauce. The tamarind sauce in the escargot was too thick and sour to me. The escargots were cooked okay. I've ordered them from places where the meat was silky soft and others where the meat was rubbery. The crab on the crab fried rice was like shredded crab meat. It wasn't stringy or hard, but I expected a few white plump pieces. The flavor of the seasoning was a little lacking. The mussels were really soft and the combo sauce was really good. The medium spicy packed a bit of heat. A few of them did have their beards still attached, which was a little weird. We ordered white rice and the plate was hot, which was strange. read more

It's a small shop when with around 10 tables. We went there on a Saturday night so there was quite a line waiting for the tables. The staff was extremely nice and attentive even though it was busy. The portion & the price were reasonable. The food on the other side was just decent. Fried chicken wings with fish sauce (canh ga chien nuoc mam) was more like the fusion type. The sauce was generous but not that authentic taste we usually expected. We tried tamarind sauce & grilled with onion oil (nuong mo hanh) for our other dishes but I was not impressed with either of them. Tamarind sauce was a little too sour & the fish sauce to pair with onion oil (nuong mo hanh) dishes was bland. I've had them better at somewhere else in Houston. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on this review. They were pretty short staffed from what it looked like but the owner was very nice. We came as a party of 7 and as each dish came out we scarfed it down pretty fast haha. quality on most the of the dishes were great but then some of the quality on others were meh we ordered the razor clams in the house sauce i think (4/5 for flavor2.5/5 for quantity... alot were just shells and minuscule meat) regular clams with one of the sauces, i believe garlic butter (3.5/5) they had fried squid TENTACLES only!! 5/5 delicious and crunchy and my favorite part of the calamari the house fried seafood rice was good 4/5. they had tobiko (fish eggs) on top of the rice which i really liked.. a little on the greasier side though. garlic noodles 3.8/5 couldve been better... but not bad. the oysters were pretty good.. no fishy smell or after taste. so pretty fresh we had alot other dishes too but since we shared and ate it as it came out i kind of forget what else we ordered haha. worth a try though! support small businesses yall! read more

My friend and I wanted something light to snack on for lunch so we decided to stop by here. Heard great things about this place and the reviews were outstanding but man I was super disappointed. The staff weren't very friendly to start off. They didn't really greet us, gave us a menu and walked away. Then came back with some waters and left again. Bland looking. Even though it looks bland, it sure was salty!! Snails tastes just like the frozen ones you get at any Asian markets. Which I can understand but at least make it presentable. Jeebus. That was just sad looking. I've seen other pictures of these on other reviews, and it was so appetizing and appealing but mine sure didn't come out that way. After only eating a few, I had asked them to box it up so I can just take it home. Maybe jazz it up myself. The grilled scallops faired better. It looked pretty and perfectly cooked. Texture was good and it doesn't taste fishy. The fish sauce for dipping was kind of bleh. Super bland. Nothing to rave about. This dish was decent but not memorable. My reason for the poor rating is because they overcharged me and didn't even acknowledge it. Luckily, I always check my receipts. We only ordered 2 dishes, but was charged for 4! They double up on the scallops and added an order of fried rice. So I asked the lady, why. No response, she just grabbed my signed receipt and the itemized receipt behind the register. Then came back with another bill! Mind you, this lady never said sorry for overcharging. Didn't even offer to give me a voided copy of my transaction nor even said anything!! Just walked back out to my table and handed me another bill. I had to ask for the voided copy just to make sure it'll be refunded before I pay for the correct items ordered. Had a craving for oysters so I googled "oyster bars near me" and this place came up. I went around 2pm on a weekday and the place was empty, but tables were clean and prepped for customers. I ordered a dozen oysters on the half shell and I wanted to try the crawfish, my waitress recommended the kitchen special sauce and said there was a 2 pound minimum. Crawfish were $9.99 per pound but I said okay. The crawfish were very citrusy and had lemon and orange peel pieces among garlic and other spices. They were boiled well and peeled easy. The oysters were fresh. Small selection of bottled beers available. Overall food tasted good and I would go back to try other things, but my solo lunch cost $50 so it was a tad pricey. read more

I have made two visits since it has opened and it didn't disappoint. I truly feel like this restaurant has so much potential. The food is authentic and fresh! The owner/waitress is truly a gem. She is honest and hardworking. She straight up told us when the quality of the item is not up to par such as the size of the crab and we appreciated her honesty! Please keep in mind during covid, restaurants are suffering and that's why the service is short staffed. Took the family for dinner based on recommendations from a friend. There was 2 waitresses, but 1 spent most of her time in the kitchen. We had to flag the girl down to order drinks, and again to order dinner. It took awhile for our meals started coming out (one at a time) several minutes apart... The last person to get their meal received theirs after everyone else was finished, and it was an hour and a half after ordering! Two of our meals were wrong and there was no effort made to correct it or even really apologize. Having said that, all of the food was excellent! I ordered a dozen oysters on the half shell, shrimp fried rice, pot stickers and my wife ordered shrimp garlic noodles. Nothing was really super good, just kinda meh, that happens but the one thing that was crazy is that they did not have crackers, the cocktail sauce and the horseradish was not good, just low quality taste. As for the service, they were very nice. She asked why I didn't eat the oysters, I politely told her and even said there was no reason for her to do anything else. To their credit, they gave me 1/2 off the oysters which I commend them for. Other than that the service was inattentive at best and I had to get up to get them to bring the check. We got 2 dozen of raw oysters ($12.99 per dozen), Cajun fries, and Tamarind Sea Snails. This restaurant is the GEM of Katy. I have been here multiple times and the consistency of the foods are excellent. The atmosphere and ambience is very friendly and family oriented. Recently they have added Cháo Lòng to their menu. It tasted delicious and plenty to eat. A MUST TRY as there are no one in the area have this , and they made to order. Good food, horrible customer service. Waited 25 minutes to get my raw oysters and my friend waiting even longer to get her oysters, the waitress didn't even remember what she ordered. I asked for grilled squid but the staff there kept insisting that I had said "squid head" so that is what I am going to receive "fried squid head". They took my plate after I complained that I had asked for grilled squid and they brought back the same plate insisting that is what I ordered. Instead of fixing my order they basically told me that I messed up on the order so you get what you get.
