Did a quick pick up order at Black Pearl while we were at Katy Chinatown. We got the razor clams in the garlic butter sauce and the bloody clam in some other sauce that the host recommended. I wasn't planning to write a review so unfortunately I didn't take any pictures but it was AMAZING. The sauces they tossed the shellfish in was superb. Tried the seafood combo which included the shrimp, mussel with added corns and potatoes. Also tried the grilled oysters and scallop. All tasted fresh and tasty. The sauce is on point which you can customize the spicy level. read more

The food was pretty good. Everything was cooked well and most had good flavor. We went as a group of 6 and ate family style. Gave us a chance to try about 10 dishes. Would gladly go back again. My favorite was the garlic noodles. Price was not cheap, but not too bad. It came out to be about $20 a person. Service was pretty good too. read more

Delicious seafoods especially they have clams, oysters, crawfish and fried rice that are well marinated.

I'm in love with Black Pearl's lemon pepper crab. I can not wait for prices on crab to go down. I do wish they have more of a alcohol beverage drink selection. Even draft beer would be great at this place. read more

Tried Black Pearl tonight based on reviews and a recommendation. Food was good but nothing special. Service was terrible!! Had to ask for someone to get us drinks. There were 6 in our group and they brought out one meal at a time. From the time we ordered until the last person received their meal was an hour and everyone else was finished. This place is amazing!!! Service was great and everything we ordered came out perfect. Oysters, raw and grilled, were both amazing and huge. The flavor was delicious and briny. The sweet snails and razor clams were full of flavor. Chicken wings with fish sauce were cooked perfectly. Finally, the grilled scallops topped with smelt were my husband's favorite. My husband and I recently tried out this place. It did not disappoint. Since we drove to almost an hour to get to this place, we decided to try nearly everything on the menu! Even though it was a pretty far drive but I'm so glad we went. The grill oysters and the blood clam are my favorite. The oysters were a little small, but the flavoring makes up for it. Maybe it may not be in season? The scallops are big and juicy, and so were the mussels. This place is a great place to go on a date if your date doesn't mind getting down and dirty. It's also can be a fun place to bring the family for a get-together. They also have gloves for you to use on the side if you needed it. We also got the WTF smoothie and tea. I know, what the heck is a WTF drink. Lol, But the drink consists of a mixer of fruits. It comes in different types; milk tea, tea, or smoothie. We decided to try out the smoothie and the tea fruit, which was the best fruit tea I ever tasted. Usually, I'm a milk tea girl, but I'm so glad I gave it a try. We will definitely be taking our family here next time. It also helps that the service was terrific! They always make sure we have everything we need! Seafood here is pretty good. Not great but it's decent and satisfies the taste buds. First time we went, it took forever for us to get our food even though we were there before the rush so don't come around sunset time. Second time around was better. Came after lunch time and got our food in a timely manner and the free karaoke session cause the lady was singing to the music. Their Black Pearl fried rice was good. We dined in at Black Pearl. Food Quality: We order 4 lbs of crawfish. We tried the house special and the kitchen special (off-menu) sauces for the crawfish, the appetizer sampler (we chose chicken nuggets, fries, and tater tots for our kids). Razor Clams with Thai Basil, Wool Snail with Coconut, Salt and pepper shrimp, grilled scalloped. The crawfish: we definitely enjoyed the off-menu sauce Kitchen special. The sauce had oranges, onions, and green onions, along with other seasonings. It reminded me of the House special at Cajun Kitchen. The House special was nothing to rave about, and we actually ended mixing both because we like the Kitchen Special sauce so much. The appetizer: was normal and nothing too spectacular. Razor Clams: I have never tried it before; the sauce was also okay, nothing too extraordinary. Grilled Scallops: these looked so pretty when they were served to us. They had scallion oil, with peanuts, cooked well because the scallop did not seem to shrivel up when served to us. it was served with a side of dipping sauce (Nouc mam) Wool Snail with Coconut: The snails were small but not difficult to remove the meat. The sauce did not seem to have penetrated through to the shell and onto the meat, but the sauce was delicious. Salt and Pepper Shrimp - These look hugs. They were also good. Fried with the skin on, so some may not like this. The coating of the shrimp batter seemed almost like a tempura type of batter and coating. Atmosphere: We arrived within moments of opening. The lighting was bright because we went to 11:30 am and were the only family in the restaurant. The restaurant had a new vibe feel to it. Service: the owner greeted us, and she recommends us to try the kitchen special (which did not disappoint) very friendly. There was a server; however, she seemed new and had difficulty understanding the additional items we were asking. Overall, I would come back and recommend it to my family and friends. read more

The food wasn't bad, but wasn't a 4 or 5 star meal. My wife had the mussels and I had fried shrimp. The mussels were good and the house flavoring was good as well. The fried shrimp and fries were good but very very greasy. Granted, if it's fried there's going to be grease put I'm talking a puddle of grease in the basket. Doesn't seem like they drained them at all. As for the service, extremely bad. If you're in the area and in the mood go ahead and try it, you won't be disappointed with the food but expect lousy service. Otherwise not worth a special trip here. read more

Lunch today (for the second time) at Black Pearl. What a disaster. Food was great, service was horrible. There were five of us, two meals arrived first; then the third at least FIVE MINUTES later; finallllly, the 4th and shortly thereafter the 5th. Meals being served over a 15-20 minute time frame. We will NOT be back. We were the ONLY patrons in the restaurant the entire time so not because they were busy. Had to ask to get water glasses refilled; requested take out box, never brought it. The cashier ignored us while eating her lunch and watching TV show. Waitperson had gone shopping and arrived with multiple purchases just as we paid and were leaving. NEVER AGAIN! My friends recommended for me this restaurant, so I was excited to come there and enjoyed. However, it was not as my expectation. They do not have enough staffs for cleaning up the table and take care customers. The owners were so nice, ( i gave 3 stars for friendly, but the food is normal and nothing special). Besides that, if you are a fan of garlic, you should try here because almost food will be cooked with garlic. My kids love your popping boba and the Vietnamese coffee is perfect. I like my coffee about 1/2 cream, 1/2 coffee while my husband likes his almost black. Called and specifically ask if they had live crawfish available which they said they did. We eat crawfish regularly and at many different locations so we can tell what is live or frozen crawfish. I have no problem eating frozen crawfish as long as the restaurant owners are upfront about it and charge accordingly which many restaurant owners are good about now a days. Many crawfish restaurants in China town will tell you when it's frozen. We ordered 3 lbs to go and got a mixed bag of mainly 90% frozen and 10% live when we were told it's only live crawfish and was charged $10.99/ lb. Wow was so disappointed. After reading the reviews and seeing the pictures I took my wife there for lunch today and it was awful. They said they had fresh crawfish and swung by with an order and they smelled and looked great but small. We ordered 2 pounds, thank god as we didn't know they were over $11 a pound!!!! . They were small but it is still early but they were soft and mushy. We had ordered the grilled oysters Italy which we asked about and figured it was with cheese. They were good sized and fresh but so much mozzarella it over lowered the oyster taste. But not bad hence the 2 stars. Then we ordered a pound of shrimp on the special sauce we had with the crawfish but this time it was way spicier even though we ordered mild. Really disappointed. It was my birthday dinner and wanted something new. Heard good reviews on FB. When we arrived there was only one waitress for 7 tables. We seated ourselves, waited for about 10min for waitress to give us menus (which she never did) while she was taking orders, busting tables and refilling drinks. We ended up leaving.
