Right, let's be honest, the service and food here were just average. Not impressive and certainly not surprising for a seafood restaurant franchise. Four of us ordered lobsters, oysters, drinks and tips for a whopping $800. That's a lot of money and frankly, it's ridiculous. We expected better, especially for the $800 bill we paid. We didn't expect to be treated differently but at least the service should have been above average. Unfortunately, I won't be returning to this place because of the poor service. To make matters worse, they put us in a corner table and I didn't feel the restaurant was busy enough to justify that. read more

We had an amazing experience. We had come knowing we'd try a bit of everything. The atmosphere is pretty laid back and chill. Our server was wonderful and attentive. We tried the buck-a-schuck oysters. No photo but they were a hit. The lobster flatbread was not our favourite. We thought it would be a dip, not all the sauce on top of bread. It was very soggy and very rich. We really enjoyed our experience. The baked Alaska was a great end to our meal. read more

Went there yesterday evening after doing keg for appies. Restaurant like I said before is unique. They do have great oysters got a couple dozen! Seen our favourite server he was bartending the girl we had was super sweet. Bathroom and restaurant clean. The smoked old fashion drink is great! Their patio also is pet friendly. read more

I stopped by Black Pearl in Windermere Edmonton after hearing they opened a location there. Similar to the downtown one, the must try is their Buck a Shuck. Their other food is decent but pricey. I'd give their oyster special 8.5/10. read more

Came to visit family and decided to check out their Windemere location for dinner. Ambiance and decor is nice and a little more upscale. Servers were nice and friendly. We decided to order a caesar to start followed by their PEI organic blue mussels in tomato sauce and pearl pescatore in tomato sauce. Quality and quantity was ok but bit on the pricier side for what you get as I'm comparing it to Vancouver. Overall not bad and would recommend to others to try them out. read more

Food is a big fat 1 out of 10. Service and ambiance 8 of out 10. Let's begin with the Lobster stuffed mushrooms. We literally though we were getting pranked. There wasn't one speck of lobster, the mushrooms were flat with cheese on them. 0 out of 10. Next was the Lobster ravioli with Gorgonzola cheese sauce. 2 out of 10. The pasta was decent but once again $35 for ravioli you would expect actual Lobster in them and not a purée of mystery filling and the sauce was a bland white sauce with zero Gorgonzola flavour. Next up the Captains dream 4 out of ten. Lacked any flavour. Had the same white sauce as the ravioli. One shrimp on the entire plate. Adding a 1/2 lbs of King crab with garlic butter. Well 1 out 10 at best. As the menu reads garlic butter, nope. You get a couple parts of a leg with them drowning in the same generic white sauce. How are you to de-shell the meat trying to hold on to hard shell crab legs. Oh wait ! The crab shell was soft and the tools they gave you were useless. Overcooked and a tiny amount of crab for $79!!! The drinks and the service was excellent. Even the waiter notice we were not impressed. So he took some of the drinks off the bill. $200 and a $40 tip. This place was an absolute ripoff. Fantastic service, our server is so accommodating and has a very good attitude towards the customer. If you are craving for oysters this is the place, during happy hour from 4-6 you can get $1 per oyster and the max is 12 pieces per person. The other entries are awesome. We ordered lobster surf and turf mac n cheese and the captain's dream and they are very good, and my daughter ordered the fish and chips and she really liked it. For sure our family will be back to this place. read more

Went with my wife on our anniversary to Black Pearl in Windermere. 1st time there had no idea what to expect. My first impression was I thought it would be a more "fancy" restaraunt. More like a noisy family style place. Our waiter Wesley was first rate. answered all our questions about the menu. We decided on bruschetta for the appetizer and I ordered the "in between" meal, shrimp, scallops and lobster basted in a honey type glaze with mashed pesto potatoes. My wife ordered the Mahi mahi. The bruschetta was sooo good, best I've ever had. It's a must try. Our meals were 5 star excellent. cannot recommend this place enough. I'm sure lots of folks have been there, but for us, our first time, well needless to say we will DEFINITELY be back. Ask for Wesley if you want the best server, he was terrific. read more

First visit to the Black Pearl. Excellent seafood served creatively. The prices are higher than most but the quality and freshness of the seafood is well worth it for my taste. It was packed when we were there but the service was excellent so there were no gaps between the courses. Definitely will go back again to try some of the other dishes. read more

Fantastic food. Many gluten-free options. Service was professional and friendly. We went for a special occasion and they made us feel special. Lovely place with a great menu. It is quite pricey given the cost of seafood these days, but everything we had was delicious. They seem to have some of the same dishes as their sister restaurant Cafe Amore. This would be a nice place to come for a special occasion. Reservation probably recommended on weekends for sure. First time at the Black Pearl and I must admit, the ambiance and service impeccable! My friend and I ordered the King's Platter so we could try a few different things. The platter came with a whole Atlantic lobster, split in half with cheese, fried haddock, seared calamari, king jumbo tiger prawns, squid ink risotto, Moroccan octopus and Alaskan king crab in a mustard lime sauce, Jonah crab in a spicy jerk cream sauce and mussels in a yellow curry cream sauce. Alot of food!!!! Probably more suited for 4 rather than just 2 people, but beautiful presentation. At first, excitement!. Everything looked beautiful and it did taste great, however, as our food began to cool and our melted butter began to solidify, I thought "is there no way to serve this, maintaining a beautiful presentation so everything remains hot?" At current seafood prices (that platter is 260$) - dipping cold seafood in semi melted butter not very pleasant. While an open flame may not be a good idea for safety reasons, there are flameless chafing dishes large enough to maintain presentation and heat. Everything tasted great when it was hot, but once it cooled off even the various sauces all tasted the same and the risotto was like mush. Will I go back? - Absolutely! - will I order a large platter of anything - no!. A single dish that I can enjoy hot as it was meant to be served will be my go to on the menu. And for those that have never tried baked Alaska - a must try delightful end to the meal! read more

Was supposed to be a Seafood Feast night. However, this place had far too high of a price point for the quality & amount of food received. Nothing to rave or write home about! First off the host (slim, bearded, glasses, dark skinned) was extremely rude, when I mentioned my name for a reservation, he says "ah yes, you had requests: booth if possible, away from washrooms & front door if possible. You gave me a fuckin task didn't you?!" I laughed but I was like really? That required SWEARING AT ME ABOUT IT? Also the place could have been more spacious with roomier seating more separated from others; with better sound absorbing acoustics (was very loud, you can barely hear the company sitting across from you) & we were surrounded by at least 6 kids (this doesn't seem like the place for kids)...one of which was an infant that bawled most of the time. Dinner mate's mussels were tiny, 2nd dinner mate's lobster surf & turf lobster mac & cheese, the lobster was just a claw on top no lobster mixed in. I spent $85 with tip & consumed: 4 king crab Mushrooms Neptune that didn't taste like they had any crab in them at all & swam in a tomato sauce; any possible crab taste was drowned out by the tomato & mozzarella cheese...1/2 a tiny lobster tail with a bit of meat in it, 2 jumbo shrimp, & 2 large scallops (unseared even though I asked the server if they were seared prior to being covered in the rum & honey nut bechamel sauce with cashews) and a small mound of bland garlic pesto mashed potatoes that were crusted over and cold on the plate by the time it reached the table. Most egregious was the host's comments, we should have left right then and there and gone to Flame & Barrel across the lot, likely would have been a better experience. 1 / 5 stars, won't be returning. read more

The best thing about it was the ambiance. Really cool decor in a great location. I found the food a little lacklustre. We went for brunch and we found most of it very bland. We ordered captain's eggs Benny and the build your own bowl. The best part of the meal was the marinade in the bowl. Visually, the presentation was great but once you took the garnish off, it was lacking in many areas. A little salt could have gone a long way and I'm not sure if it was just forgotten or if this is just how it's made. The potatoes with the benny had zero salt on them, my egg wasn't cooked right and the eggs benny had next to no hollandaise. Considering that we were the only table in the restaurant for a while, I expected better. I'd give it a 6/10. We had a reservation right at opening and our server walked into his shift after we were already sitting at our table. Waited half an hour for coffee because the machine was turned off. The server was nice enough to remove it from our bill, but if we are coming in based on a reservation, how are these things not checked before hand and ready to go for service? I may come back to try the dinner, but I'd go elsewhere for brunch. read more
