    Nova Scotia oysters
    Former Spec. 5 ..

Dad gum, this place just grows on me. Every time I'm in Tyler I gravitate to the town square and there it is. Black Pearl, keeps calling my name. The food (oysters again) simply fresh, almost as if I were in some beachside cafe. All the oysters here are from cold water places Nova Scotia for one. A small delicacy to reward myself after a long week. Dark , cool, and welcoming, my type of place. Great company and friendly folks too. This is where we get ready to cha cha, swing, rhumba, and tango. Ran into my fellow veteran friend Al whom I met my first time here. Wonderful food, friends, and company. You'll love it too. Go !

Small menu of verygood here. I am doing Ahi Tuna Tartare and Crab Louis Salad, White Moscato and club soda. I very much enjoyed foods here. Bailey is not a raw food guy. So he basically would not try anything we had and didn't understand what we were getting. Overall food quality and service was really good.

It's arguably the best bar in Tyler. I'm afraid to review it, because I don't want to attract too many people. I want to keep this a secret because then we won't have anywhere to sit when we go! Hands down best drinks. Innerarity is my fav bartender. He's friendly and attentive! Look for him. The others are cool too, but he's memorable. The setting is like an old tavern; narrow shot-gun style. On certain days they play r&b and oldies. If they aren't playing that, we just still go, but don't stay as long. My favorite bar food is the boiled shrimp. If you get stuffed, they are topped with crab meat. While there aren't many hot food options, it beats the traditional wings and burgers at typical bars. Like I said, don't crowd the place and steal our seats, but check it out. You won't be disappointed.

This is a new experience for us. My wife gave me the pick of restaurants on a date night. So I picked this place. It's a cocktail bar for drinks and a raw bar for food. They have oysters on the half shell from several different locations. This night they had some from a couple of places in Nova Scotia. They were some of the best raw oysters I've ever had! They reminded me of oysters from Maine and Oregon. The best in Tyler! We also had a lobster roll, a crab salad, crab crostinis, and steak tartare. All were excellent. Never had beef tartare before but I liked it. The crab crostini's were a hit! Very good!! The crab salad was ok, nothing special, more greens than anything. Finally, the lobster roll was very good! I've had better in Maine but it's the best around here! The service was excellent, very prompt and professional. I liked the atmosphere, cozy and dark, a nice place for a date night. They had a very nice menu of cocktails and a nice wine list. It's kind of expensive. So don't have a heart attack when the bill arrives! We will definitely be going back. I recommend giving this place a try.

This place is pretty magical as the name suggests. My only real annoyance was the time that it took considering there were only six people in the restaurant. The food is beyond delectable. We had a crab roll and lobster bisque with cocktails. The price is very expensive but I thought it was worth it considering the beautiful calming atmosphere and just the overall presentation of the entire facility. Highly suggest for a date night, probably not a family night.

TLDR: Meh. Not worth the hype. Mediocre limited food options. Good oysters. OK drinks. Expected much more from the reviews. It is 98% bar, 2% restaurant. Food was Mediocre & expensive. Tapas sort of- in that the plates were small. Had the Halibut ceviche. Good. Little bland, little halibut. Lots of avocado which was nice. Carpaccio NY strip. Total miss. Was plated well but zero substance. Lobster roll - chunky lobster. Had potential. Buried in mayo. Crustacean abuse. Dozen oysters - various places. They have a ton. No idea how fresh. Decent if you like oysters. Paper Plane - "my drink" love that it was on the menu! Was OK, not great. Proportions were off. Dark & Stormy - was a good drink. Well made. And Pineapple coconut pancetta. My companion asked "what is it?" I describe it as, "fancy jello". It rolls out and . . . Pineapple, coconut & cream on top were good. Canned & bagged, not fresh. "Jello" was completely flavorless, completely. Could have been tofu or unflavored gelatin & would have been the same. Service was poor before they were busy and then became nonexistent. For $120 we should have gone to a good steakhouse. Rare, but this one was a 100% miss.

Don't go here. Please, worst bartender service ever. Food is okay and extremely overpriced.

There's plenty of nice local establishments, but some can be pricey and some are just more casual than you want. Scott Williams has perfected the restaurants of Tyler that are balanced between affordable and still quite nice. He got his toes in the water with FDs, before expanding into Javi's, Twelve, and now the fanciest of them all in III Palms. I thought of all those options, Twelve would be the most unique and tasty for my girlfriend and I. We went in an hour before they closed on a Sunday and were seated immediately. We weren't too hungry so we didn't expect to be there past their closing time, and we were ready to go. Our waiter was quick and attentive, bringing us water and helping us decide on drinks from the bar and our order. He also showed us their insane over-the-top whiskey menu. If you like whiskey, give Twelve a shot I guess. To order, I just got their 'Osaka Style' Pressed Roll while my girlfriend got a Sushi Bowl Salad. We got Sweet Potato Fries to share. As for drinks, I started with their Monkey See, Monkey Do, an impressive and firm beverage, while my girlfriend ordered their Destin Dream, a fun Pina Colada-like drink. It wasn't long before our food came out. The sushi was beautifully plated with some wasabi and pickled ginger on the side. I destroyed all the rolls. They were all very fresh and very high quality, which was remarkable for their $13.50 price tag. My girlfriend's sushi bowl looked insane. She ate most of it, but I filled the gaps and devoured the rest of it. The sweet potato fries were crispy and heavenly like all sweet potato fries usually are. I felt adventurous and I got a second drink of their Rose Garden, which was simple but flavorful. Compared to FDs, the menu might be a little more sea-inspired and more adventurous, but I think it leads to better, more unique food, especially with offerings like Oyster Rockefeller and a sushi bar. I also know Twelve does a great brunch as well, so keep that on your radar. Ultimately, as the bill came, the price was very manageable even with the alcohol. It's nice that you don't fully have to break the bank to have a nice meal in Tyler thanks to places like Twelve. I rate it a 12/10. Get it? hahahaha... RIYL: A slightly adventurous, but affordable night out.

I was not to hot on the idea of eating at this place since bar food can be a "hit or miss" at it's best. Found the place, especially since we don't get to Tyler that often. Okay, doesn't look like a horrible place, around 3ish, I can do a late lunch, early dinner. Walk in, a couple of people in there, bartender tells us to set wherever we want to. Brings us menus, gets our drinks. The place has a Vietnamese type menu with some really good looking burger sandwiches on it too, so I'm undecided of what I want. The bartender tells us that the burgers are the choice the crowds usually. I got the Sky Burger, I think that is what it was called. Excellent burger and choice. The Chef, owner and the bartender provided excellent service. The bartender was on top of his game always checking on us to see if we needed anything and if we were satisfied. They have a little stage, not a real big place and it looks like the draw the local crowd. They give a Veteran's discount on their menu items which I always ask for and appreciate. It look's like a neighborhood gem. We'll definitely stop back in when we're back in Tyler again because I want to try their fried rice that I saw on the menu.
