The food is ok and sometimes even better than ok. The thing you have to watch for is that they have a lot of turnover and the staff tends to routinely overcharge you. Tonight for example, I was overcharged by $8 on a $32 bill for two. The problem is no one there can fix it, the management is non-existent, and so you just leave frustrated. read more

We have been meaning to come to this restaurant for a long time so we were very excited to finally visit yesterday. The hostess was very polite and helpful, and we were excited to see the beautiful outdoor seating area the restaurant offered. Unfortunately everything else fell flat. We were not greeted for several minutes so I had to flag down a young woman who wasn't even dressed like a waitress. She acted irritated and annoyed to be addressed by guests and then told us she would find our server. We were then greeted by a young man who told us he was actually stationed inside and was asked to take our table as a transfer. My guess is the young lady didn't want a new table and asked him to take it, despite him being occupied inside. Our appetizer came BEFORE our drinks (which all took forever even though the place was only at maybe 20% capacity.) The spinach dip was nothing I would order again. We ordered the Mahi and shrimp. The Mahi mahi was OK, shrimp was good, but the mashed potatoes were plopped on the plate cafeteria style and the spinach was not cooked well. Will never order again. My mom has no desire to return. After three visits, I'm torn on this rating. First visit was for lunch after church several weeks ago. We enjoyed their wonderful patio, terrific service and delicious Tinga tacos. Second visit was about a month ago. I ate dinner solo at the bar. Mahi Mahi was outstanding, but service was somewhat slow. Third was last night. Again, I was solo so opted to sit at the bar. I asked if they had the rack of lamb on the specialty menu. I was told they only had enough for 1/2 order. "How many lamb chops is this," I asked. "Three or four," I was told. "How much will it cost?" Maybe about $20. So, I opted for the NY Strip. Priced at $34, it comes with mashed potatoes, seasonal veggies, and choice of salad. My meal came out in record time. I asked about my salad. "You still want it?" No, just credit something off my price. Server looked at me like I was from Mars. The steak was a quality cut, perfectly prepared, and very flavorful. After watching one of the bartenders take a shot with a patron, the vibe seemed weird to me. So I asked for my check, paid and left. No salad, no credit. Had visit three been my first, it would probably be my last with a one or two star rating. While I may return, not sure that I'll sit at the bar. Management has some training to do. read more

Go somewhere else. We had high hopes for this place because it was fairly close to our house. Sadly we were mistaken. I ordered a peach margarita and my wife ordered the pear. She loved hers, but mine didn't taste like peach at all and it was obviously green. I told our waitress and she took back to the bar. Shortly after she. And back with the same margarita with about an ounce of peach syrup sitting at the bottom of the glass, not mixed at all (I ordered frozen). So things happen, I just tried to enjoy our food. I ordered nachos. Let me say that I'm 40 years old and have ordered nachos more than once. This was the smallest, least flavorful plate of nachos I e ever seen. There may have been 14-15 chips, a sprinkle of chicken, and cheese so runny it wouldn't stay on the chips. It had the same consistency as milk. My wife ordered a second drink, but our waitress didn't bring it until after I had paid and we were about to leave. Poor service, poor drinks, and the food was not good at all. Lots of seafood items including raw oysters and her staff is trained and super helpful. Try the Prickly Pear Margaritas and the crawfish queso. This is not Tex-Mex!!! My hubs said the Rack of Lamb was the best he's ever had. We've become regulars. I'm not a huge sports fan - I try to avoid it on big game days. We've been twice - the first time the food was great, the second only ok. Service is ok, a little inattentive out on the patio. Love that they have a patio, but they could definitely stand to upgrade the furniture out there. The picnic tables outside of the patio area are a decent back up plan for when there is an event outside, still a spot for outdoor dining. Service is ok, maybe a little inattentive. The owner Gloria is the hardest worker I know. She runs that store so well. From her employees, to the decor to the food and drinks- everything is amazing! The bartender Angela is the best. So sweet and knowledgeable. Some people say the drinks are over priced. But honestly you're paying for the ambience. So it's worth it! The outside area is fun too. We've been here many times. Thank goodness tonight our waiter, Vinny, was working. It was a slow night in the main dining with a party on the deck. It's January, and cold. Both front and patio doors were wide open and the restaurant was very cold. Vinny checked on our drink order at least four times, probably more like 6 times. The bartender wasn't very busy and seemed more interested in talking than making drinks. When we finally got ours we were almost finished with the appetizer. Our food was good but not spectacular. Date Night. We sat in the outside patio area. Not too warm. They have large fans moving air nicely. I had the New York Strip medium rare. Mrs had the top sirloin steak. Both of us had the vegetables and mashed potatoes. We both enjoyed the Cesar salad before our dinners arrived. Mrs had her white wine. I chose the Montez margarita. We were both very satisfied. As is our habit, we each gave one another bite of the others steak. She preferred mine as it was left along with a side container of dipping sauce. Hers on the other hand seemed to be covered with a gravy type sauce, which, after tasting my she, determined that she preferred mine slightly better than hers. Not a deal killer in anyway. Service was great. Our waitress asked us to both. Please cut into our stakes to make sure that they were done as ordered. That is a first for me and Mrs. They do add a 3% service charge if you're gonna be using a charge card or a debit card to complete your transaction. They even suggest as an alternative using cash and saving that 3% service charge. Again this is not a deal killer. Both of us read reviews that were not too favorable. But I think it may have been for Villa Montez in Tyler. Ours was in Whitehouse. We experienced no issues and will be coming back in the not too distant future. We recommend everybody give it a try. The mixed vegetables had a decent flavor, but it was a lot of big chunks of bell pepper, zucchini, onions, and mushrooms. The mashed potatoes were delicious; they were not instant. So, this food with a couple of beers, a margarita, and a dr. Pepper $103. Then, we were given a 3% charge using a credit card. Our server was ok, but she was not worth a 20% tip. I won't be going back. It would be nice to be able to go and enjoy happy hour with my husband, but I won't pay a surcharge for using a credit card. Too expensive for what we were served. read more

He didn't offer to box up our food and when we asked for it to go he said he would be right back. 15 mins later we just left. He never came back. The restaurant was too loud to talk across the table, outside was reservation only. The server did not know any of the answers to any of my questions nor did she offer to ask. She talked to her friend one table over and only checked on us twice.. don't forget we were there for almost 2 hours! .. with no food.
