I used to really enjoy going to Black Rock Coffee -- the baristas were friendly, the service was efficient, and it felt like a great local spot. Unfortunately, the experience has gone downhill lately. Now, with the push toward app ordering, the personal touch is gone. I regularly place my order, drive 10 minutes to the store, and then end up waiting an additional 20-30 minutes for my drink -- even when the place isn't busy. I have arrived at BR and waited for someone to acknowledge me and just went ahead and placed an app order all while waiting for the staff. Worse, I often stand at the counter for 5+ minutes before anyone even acknowledges me. It's frustrating, especially when staff are right there but don't say a word. On top of that, they still charge for alternative milk (even Starbucks and Dutch Bros have dropped those charges), and today my XL drink was only about 2/3 full. (I measured when I got home and was literally shorted 1 full cup.... And I don't expect it to be full spilling from the top just pretty close to the top of the cup) To top it off, the espresso is frequently burnt, which makes the drinks bitter and unpleasant. I've been a loyal customer for a while, but once I use up the rewards from their newly revamped loyalty system, I don't see myself coming back. read more

I love Starbucks! But today we decided to try Black Rock. It was 6:10pm so I checked the hours and they closed at 7pm. We were good so off we went. We enter the drive through only to find a truck blocking the way. The people didn't move or bother to inform us they were doing some kind of work. After a few minutes of sitting there, we reversed back through the narrow drive through. We pulled around to the front and found a sign on the door "closed early for construction." Maybe add a sign at the entrance of drive through and maybe update your hours. We'll just stick with Starbucks from now on. Never experienced this nonsense anywhere else AND we should have read the reviews before going because we would have saved ourselves some time. read more

Went to the Black Rock coffee in Castle Rock colorado. Line was about twenty cars long at the drive through but i got into it anyways. Studied the online menu during my 20 minute wait. And when I finally got up to the gal taking orders, the three things our group had wanted on the menu "aren't available at this location". Asked what else was available to eat and there's no menu board for 5 more cars in front of me so the poor gal has to rattle off the entire menu to me. When i finally do get up to the window to pay they haven't even started making my order yet . So eight more minutes there , $21 later and two of the most mediocre lates and a very meh butter croissant later we're on the road . Definitely room for a real coffee shop in Castle Rock. read more

I remember when this location was first announced, and I was excited to try it out. Many years later, I'm finally getting a chance to. My overall experience was not good. While the espresso drink, and egg bites that I got were both really good - it was the service and layout that was not impressive. The menu is quite far from the counter and quite difficult to read in order to help someone see what is offered. For my visit, it took an uncomfortably long time for someone to even acknowledge me let alone take my order. It seems the best way to get services to go through the drive-through. I pre ordered my food and drink earlier, and 20 mins later, still not ready. There wasn't many people in there so I doubt there was that many drinks ahead of mine. The food was good, but the drink wasn't so good. I had no idea that it didn't come with any sweetener what so ever and just plain vanilla sweeter costs 80 extra cents. I am a tea snob- the decor of the place was mixed table heights, and shapes. They had a cozy corner with comfy chairs. I ordered a black tea with raspberry, asking for it to be sweetened. Love love love Black Rock! It's so nice to have a local spot to get some quality coffee. After living in San Francisco for so long, my standards for a good coffee are up there.. (snobby maybe, but I can't help it). Not only is there great coffee, but the vibe inside is always bustling (which brings me back to city life for a minute!), the breakfast burritos are 5-stars, and the staff is always so friendly. If you go through the drive-thru, be prepared for a chatty staff member.. they usually bring ALL the energy ;-P If you happen to need a solid hat too... I bought one here and it's one of our favorite hats (my husband stole it... so I'll be getting another one). The biggest takeaway: Your money will be well spent here... enjoy!! read more

We have been going to the Castle Rock location for 6 years. The service was always good but unfortunately it has especially declined in the last year. We go every day and spend good money and this coffee shop is our choice because they close at 7. For some strange reason, on recent visits, they have told us that they closed early for the day. Today we got there at 6:50, and got the same message. Additionally, several times we've received a coffee drink that is 2/3 of the way filled up. So sad to see one of our local choices go down hill. I am such a sucker for unique coffee shops (sorry Starbucks, still love you!) so I was patiently waiting for the Black Rock Coffee Bar to open for business. Its a brand new building and it's on the same parking lot as my office so I couldn't be more excited once it finally opened up. It's super spacious inside and I love the modern decor! Plenty of space between the tables so it's perfect for quick business meetings/networking or awkward blind dates as you are not rubbing elbows with the people next to you (plus with all the covid restrictions they will always have plenty of room for all the customers). The menu is perfect (interesting and not overwhelming), and coffee is delicious! The service is always super friendly as well! I can't recommend it enough!! read more

Simply put.... The food is disgusting! The toasted bagel was as so stale and crunchy that It sounded like my husband was going to break his tooth on it. The butter croissant was still frozen assuming that they pull it from the freezer? Not sure, but I do know it is not made fresh nor led to believe it's made there at all. This is one of my favorite coffee spots in Castle Rock. Coffee tastes great! I usually order a drip brew or a decaf Americano. I like how they have half and half placed away from the barista station; you don't need to ask a barista for it. The half and half is placed where patrons add sweetener to their beverages. I'm impressed that they offer Stevia as a sweetener alternative. Staff is usually friendly here. I also like that the coffee is served "hot" here rather than "lukewarm" like so many places tend to serve it. This is a great place to stop on your way to work in the morning. It's great that this location is so close to the interstate. There are also shops and eateries in a nearby mini strip mall. The interior of BR Coffee Bar is also clean and there are plenty of places to sit. I'll definitely make this one of my regular go to places for great coffee! read more

Grabbed a to go drink from Black Rock and really enjoyed it. They have a special $4 weekly menu where they have one coffee and one non coffee drink as a $4 special each day. This is such an awesome concept! I ordered the coffee special which was the Carmel blondie. The drink was delicious and was the perfect balance of sweetness and expresso. This location had plenty of open seating and tables and would serve as w great place to work or just hang out. read more

This is an update review from several years ago. This location is perfect when shopping in the outlet stores. I can grab my cappuccino (made hot - not lukewarm - and the foam was fresh and delicious! And the extra shot of caffeine I requested was perfect! The staff were friendly and helpful. The tables were clean and the floor swept! Yay! My pet peeve in another local coffee place is dirty tables while the teen staff gather and visit behind the counter! This place is obviously well managed. Thanks for a great experience! read more

I raise my delicious cup of coffee to you, Black Rock Coffee Bar! I've been meaning to try this place, and my visit was hastened when I learned that they were giving ALL profits earned this past Friday to a family in Castle Rock who was recently affected by a tragic car accident. I will ABSOLUTELY support a business that supports its community. I walk in and the community love continues- I see a poster about a blanket drive BR is participating in. So awesome. I step up to place my order and inquire about healthy options. The very friendly person at the counter informed me that not only can drinks be made with skim milk, but they also have almond and soy milks, and most drinks can be made with sugar free syrups. I really appreciate that so many dietary needs and tastes can be met! Also, while I didn't order a pastry today, I did take note that some tasty looking options from local bakeries were available- more community involvement and positive collaboration! I selected the Mexican mocha with skim milk, and it was served up quickly at the perfect temperature. I was in love at first sip- not overly sweet like some fancy coffee drinks, obviously made with quality ingredients, and just a hint of spice to make it unique. I cannot wait to try their other drinks! The only thing I didn't love about this place was the space itself. While modern and super cool, it's not cozy like I personally prefer for coffee shops. It has an industrial feel, seating does not look comfortable, and I can see it getting loud. That being said, I usually grab my drink and go, so this doesn't affect me. Fantastic coffee, wonderful service, and a business that supports the community definitely means that Black Rock has earned my business, and I think they deserve yours, too. read more

First time visiting Castle Rock to meet up with classmates for school who live in CO Springs. We decided this would be a great study place based on their photos in Yelp, we weren't disappointed. They had 2 massive tables that we could chose from to spread out on. We we went they also had deals for each day of the week which discount some if their premium drinks, since it was sunday, the drink of the day was Mexican Mocha! Definitely a MUST TRY. They can serve any flavor of drink, hot, iced or blended. For food choices they had some muffins and bagels which was perfect to hold me over until lunch. The interior of their coffee shop was amazing design wise, it seems that they captures the natural feel of CO as well as their brand. If you're in castle rock area, stop by for a drink or some of their "fuel" drinks! read more

I came here to get some work done on a Saturday morning. I had read some other reviews and was curious to try out the coffee, food and see how the WiFi is. I definitely liked the coffee which was really great. For the food I wasn't very impressed they only had pre made pastry's, I tried one of the Orange Scones and really didn't like it. It also came from a company in Seattle and im amazed they can't find a local bakery to do get pastries from. I also was really disappointed with the WiFi. It was super slow to the point that I ended up just using my phone hotspot. Overall I would come back here to do the drive thru Coffee but that's about it. Trying another coffee shop we'd been eyeing by our new house this weekend! The drive through line was a little longer then the Dutch Bros. we visited yesterday but it moved very quickly so no complaints. The inside also had cool decor so we'll have to pop in sometime. We got a chai tea latte & a hot mexican mocha. I loved the cinnamony chocolate flavor and all their signature drinks look enticing. Though Dutch Bros. has a larger drink selection, Black Rock gets points for its larger selection of baked items. Our chocolate croissants were bigger then Starbucks and seemed more chocolate covered. I think we'll probably just rotate between this and Dutch Bros. trying all their items. The employees were also lovely here so we'll be coming back! read more

First time going to Black Rock was a success! Walked in and was instantly in love with the decor. It is just so cute!
