My husband and I have loved this place since it opened but recently it has really gone downhill. This morning my husband went and got us 2 coffees. When he got back home which literally takes 3 minutes he notice the coffees were cold. He went back up there only to be laughed at by the girl that was working. All they did was dump our coffees back in the metal container and re heat them instead of making new ones. He asked for the store manager but the girl wasn't willing to tell him. She finally did and said her name was Cam. We will be calling Monday to talk to a manager. Someone needs to be on top of this location as you are letting it slip through the cracks. read more

Ordered two drinks. They were not labeled so I wasn't sure which is which. Got home and realized there were room temp not hot at all. Went back because I would like the drinks I ordered. Spoke with the rudest condescending person I've ever encountered named Cam. If that's her real name. Instead of making the drinks how they should have they heated them up. When I asked for the store manager Cam told me there are many managers. I asked when the manager will be in she said she is not in today. I asked again and she blew the question off again and said the store manager goes to many stores. This entire time Cam thought it was funny. These days I'm no stranger to drive thru coffee places and Black Rock is probably one of my favorites in the drive thru universe. I've been wanting to try everything on their fall menu so I decided to go with their iced shaken pumpkin espresso with oatmilk. Shaken, not stirred please! This drink will definitely keep you caffeinated for any 007 spy missions you might be on. Sadly I wasn't in a souped up Aston Martin while getting my coffee though. The espresso was bold and contrasted with the creaminess of the oatmilk. I couldn't taste a lot of pumpkin flavor, just a generic sweetness. It was overall a good drink if you want more coffee flavor in your beverage but I think I prefer the more subtle pumpkin blondie over the espresso drink. Service was a bit slow using the drive thru but the cashier at the window was friendly. What's next on my Black Rock coffee adventures? Maybe the caramel pecan chiller! read more

Whenever I visit Arizona I always try to stop by Black Rick coffee. I think the locations are very cute, the staff are always friendly, and the coffee tastes really good. My personal favorite is the nitro cold brew. At this location, the lobby is very clean, and right now because it's the holidays, just looks very pretty and festive. Dirt?? Cmon??!!! And that dumb tip-screen. My goodness! Next time I want the coffee first so I can taste it then I will put the tip in. I usually hit this location on my way to work. I give it three stars because it seems every other time they forget the sugar-free vanilla in my iced coffee when I order it. I've always been curious about their food and one time I tried the maple cronut. Thought it was terrible... tasted like it was a couple of days old. Today I tried the coffee cake... taste was ok, but it also felt old. As I go to sip my cold brew.. no sugar-free vanilla. So here I am drinking an XL cold brew with cream. Sucks. Heads up... be sure to take a sip before leaving. I didn't taste it until I got to work. Too late then. I guess I'll stick to the 116th St & Shea location from now on. read more

It seems there is little effort put into online/doordash orders, as each time i've ordered from here there is ALWAYS something missing. For example, not once has my drink come with whipped cream even though I request it every. single. time! So the wife and I decided to drive out to this location (we live in North Phoenix) and the one near us pretty good so we figured this location would be great as well. Now since this was the grand opening they were offering all drinks for just 2 bucks which is actually why we came out. This location has great outdoor seating and the ambiance of the place is really good along with free Wi-fi. However, my worry is that the actual location is pretty isolated as there looks like this whole area is being "developed" therefore it may not seem that appealing at least until more business comes down that way. I say "down that way" because on the SHEA BLVD end there is plenty to do and see however on the end right off the 101 expressway there isn't much to see right now so just keep that in mind. The coffee drinks are great, the staff is very friendly, and again I think this location has a real chance to shine once the area is better developed. Also, just an FYI, there is a Dutch Bros coming as well that will be within walking distance of this location so this establishment is definitely going to get some strong competition. Honestly I would give this 0 stars if I could. Such a horrible experience and customer service. I was on my way home and stopped at this location at about 12:30pm on 4/12. I pulled through the drive thru where the message on the speaker box prompted me to pull forward to the window. As I got to the window the girl that was helping me was pleasant the other girl behind her was making my drink. What seemed like nice conversation and interaction between all of us was not the case the second time I had pulled around because I wasn't satisfied with the drink that I got. There was no one in the line at that time so I didn't see a problem with asking them to remake it. Especially when you're paying 6$ for a latte plus I had tipped. The second time I had pulled around the girls had switched so the one that originally helped me on window was now making drinks. She was a short female early twenties, layered brown hair with bangs. She became a completely different person and was very upset when I had asked for a remake. Even offering to give her back my old drink and I had not asked for a refund. She began saying things like "well what else do you want me to put in it?" As I explained I didn't want anything additional I just wanted something different. So I had then asked if she could tell me some of the SF syrup options and some names of the drinks since I didn't have a menu directly in front of me and I don't go there often enough to know off he top of my head. Black Rock employees are all keepers, thats for sure, so welcoming, especially during these stressful times ! I am a regular at two locations in the Scottsdale area and have ordered mostly drip coffees and one scrumptious hot Mexican Mocha . The drip coffee here is full bodied but very smooth unlike the overly expensive burnt tasting coffee from the place that shall not be named - ahem .I can also vouch for the almond croissants ... always a tasty snack to look forward to. On the upside, the decor is fun and comfortable. However, my suggestion before you purchase a baked good, ask when it was baked. I ordered a triple berry muffin that was very dry, lacking berries and at least day old, probably two days old. The hot latte was Luke warm, so I asked for it to be warmed. To their credit, they remade it. Because we sat outside and they delivered the first order to the table, we expected it to be delivered to our table. After waiting a while, my husband walked to the counter to see if it was ready. He found the young lady talking on her cell phone with my latte next to her.
