Do not get your tattoo done by Brandon- amazing work however rude, disrespectful and unprofessional. This would have been my second time getting tattooed by him- first was a picture of my pittie and this session was for my other pittie. I reached out to him and told him I wanted same proportion but different style than my first pittie since my pitties look similar I wanted to make sure there was a difference (different color and placement of flowers). I gave him reference pics and described what I wanted-- a bigger flower and small one, different border and color. I asked him if he can show me what his idea is since last time I was tattooed of my pittie, he has to redraw because there was miscommunication on what I wanted. So I wanted to make sure he didn't have to redraw it up and wanted to make sure it what I wanted- he replied he's draws up the morning of so he couldn't. I told him I possibly could come a bit earlier if it was more helpful to him but either way it would have been my first time seeing the drawn up tattoo, however due to previous plans I showed up on time to my appointment. The drawing was not what I wanted-- big rose at the bottom that would have went into my knee and big portioned than my other pittie tattoo piece which is what I asked not for. I asked if he could redraw it and immediately gave attitude. I told him I didn't want the tattoo proportioned bigger than my other one. Brandon drew it up again and again the flower on the bottom was too big and going into my knee. I told him I understand he was getting irritated but I wanted to make sure it what I wanted if it's going on my body and Brandon was extremely rude saying I was wasting his time and he's not going to draw up all day, and giving attitude and rude remarks. After an hour of waiting which I was fine with Brandon finally got the proportion size correct and I was happy with the drawing-- as I was ready to start my tattoo, he said I'm only going to have time for an outline today as I was never told he had a client at 2:30 and was never told that he had a client after mine and that my tattoo was not going to be finished today (last pittie tattoo I did all in a 4 hour session). And was discussed last tattoo session it was going to be the same thing. Again no communication and professionalism. I told I blocked out my schedule for hours to finish my tattoo today and had sent the deposit in advance. When I told him that was not discussed and asked him should we plan for another day, Brandon started screaming saying that he doesn't have to tell me when he has a client and blaming me for having to draw up multiple times when I told him it was his choice to draw it up the morning of and not have a consult appointment or go over the drawing of tattoo. I also told him I could've came in on another day to go over the drawing and he said "he doesn't like people over his shoulder while he draws" and likes to drawing the morning of appointment, which again is unprofessional if he does not want to redraw or make adjustments for someone using their hardworking money to get a tattoo done. I was highly upset and told him I don't get why he's upset about make adjustments to a permanent tattoo and one that means a lot to me. I told him I understand it's frustrating redrawing but I also told him in advance to prevent the situation from happening. Brandon proceeded to scream and say he was refusing my services and to get out of he was going to call the cops. While he was screaming I took out my phone to record because I have never had a tattoo experience like this. I could only imagine how many people he has tattooed that was afraid to speak up about not like the drawing or wanting adjustments when he takes it as a personal attack on his work. Brandon made comments saying he was the owner of the shop and he could do whatever the fuck he wanted. This is just to inform anyone planning on getting a tattoo from Brandon from Black Sea Tattoos-- his work is amazing, however how he treats others is not okay. I have a lot of ink work done and appreciate all the artists who take the time to provide good work to their clients, however speaking on what you want is important when you are permanently getting ink done and paying for the services and communication is also important. With that being said, I would never go back to Black Sea Tattoos and would never recommend someone going there to get tattooed. I found Black Sea Tattoo scrolling Instagram at 9pm on a Friday night; yes, the algorithm worked! I gave the shop a call at 12:30pm the next day and was delighted to speak with Megan, who told me that she had openings and to come on down to the shop to discuss what I wanted. When I arrived, Megan greeted me and showed me her flash tattoo catalog. I couldn't decide between 3 designs and asked if I could merge three elements from three different designs into one tattoo. Didn't actually end up getting a tattoo here but would definitely consider coming back! Clean shop with a lot of character; definitely has really traditional American tattoo vibes (I liked the Sailor Jerry memorabilia posted on the walls!). Unfortunately, the style of tattoo I wanted just didn't really fit with any of the artists (fine line sort of deal). They were still willing to sketch out the design and talked to me about it, but ultimately they were honest and let me know that they really didn't have a small enough needle to make it look how I wanted. They were also willing to take me in as a walk-in had I gone forward, but I decided not to only because that seemed to be their recommendation. I would rather the artist be truly confident and feel as excited about the piece as myself, and I knew that wasn't the case here. No big deal. It's on me to research the shop and the artist's work ahead of time and I didn't do that. Had a spontaneous idea and a sudden urge to add more tattoos to the collection. I also really appreciated that Ariel (I think that was her name!) stopped what she was doing just to give me the information of someone who might be a better fit for what I want. She explained to me what needs to be done in order to get that design. She was very nice and if I do come back to this shop in the future, I would go to her! Can't fault an artist for being honest. They could have easily lied and done the tattoo just to get business, but I felt like they were being authentic. They still took the time out of their day to discuss it. Called in the morning to try and make an appointment but was told I wouldn't need to do that. So I let the gentlemen know what time I would be by and he said no problem. So I get there - and didn't mid waiting but none of the employees seemed like they wanted to take another appointment. Another gentlemen asked me to leave my number and he'd call me in about 1-2 hours once he finished up with another customer. Well... 3.5 hours later. No call. I thought this was handled super unprofessionally and they lost out on a customer. I went elsewhere and was taken as a walk in and got the shop owner to do a tattoo for me with no hesitation and great customer service skills and awesome ink. Unfortunately, I am writing the first bad review for these guys. But hey, you can't expect to treat people like that and not hear anything about it, especially from someone who Yelps a lot. Hopefully next time they'll be more courteous with someone they don't have time for or at least allow them to make an appointment so they can work with them. read more

I was so impressed particularly with my artist, Brandon (the owner) who was super accommodating & whom I felt comfortable giving creative freedom to. I literally strolled in one day saying "I want a tattoo.. I don't know of what exactly, I just know I want it on my thigh.." (smh, I know). I walked in for a consult with some vague ideas & some screenshots, and within a couple days he had come up with a design that was even better than what I tried envisioning myself! I've gotten 4 tattoos here (so far) and can't stress enough how awesome and comfortable this shop is. Everyone is super laid back and the artists are fantastic. I've personally been tattooed by Brandon (3x) and Earl (1x). Both are great guys with an easy hand. Brandon started and is currently working on my Disney sleeve at the moment.
