I wanted to like this place so badly. They offered Gel X manicures! And pedicures! AND were open on NYE! Unfortunately this was easily the worst manicure I've paid this much for in the Bay Area. Slow, sloppy, and ultimately messy work. My toes and fingers just look...bad. I'm usually the type of person who calls bad service experiences a "lesson", but between the cost ($55 gel x mani and $30 regular pedi) and the time it took for the service to complete (3 whole hours), I just felt scammed. It was as if the manicurist had never used gel x before (couldn't apply a straight nail) or could give two shits about providing good, efficient service (my gel mani is less tha3 days old and already chipped, bubbles all thru my jelly polish and mystery bits of glitter thanks to the untidy station, LUMPY toenail polish application, and she was on the phone almost constantly). First impression/service: Had their first morning appt but the door was still locked. Waited for 10 min outside after ringing the doorbell and loudly knocking on the door even though one of the workers was inside. Could have felt a little more welcomed (and an apology for the wait would have been nice). Results: Shellac polish lasted for over 2 weeks, but they didn't apply the polish as close to my cuticles as I'd hoped for. Also, the application wasn't done as well as it could have been---with 2 coats, there were some areas where the polish was thinner/lighter than other areas. Overall ok experience although I've had better at other places. read more

This place is a tad hard to find because there are no visible signs from the street. Just look for the giant tanning salon on the corner of Santa Clara Ave right before the 580 onramp. Then, climb the stairs and the salon will be on the right. Something about the salon didn't give me a welcoming vibe. Perhaps it's the obscured reception desk on the right. When you step inside, you immediately see the pedicure area. Uncertain about whether I'm in the right place, I tried to find someone who worked there, but the lady who greeted me made me feel a bit out of place. It's inexplicable. Stacy was my masseuse. I was led to this little room off from their lounge area (there's even a little bar). She's very friendly, but I wouldn't say it was a great massage. Decent. It wasn't not the worst either. I feltThere wasn't enough pressure. Although at times, I felt that she applied more pressure on my left side. It was a relaxing experience nonetheless, aside from the occasional disruption of the soothing music. It just ends abruptly, startling me back into full consciousness. Towards the end, I heard footsteps and voices that made me briefly believe that we weren't alone in the room. The one thing really liked was the chocolate raspberry-scented massage lotion (oil?). The aroma made me crave sweets. It's a busy area by Grand Lake, so parking might prove to take a little effort. Be sure to get there early to find parking. read more

I have been here numerous times a pedicure ($20) consist of the usual pedicure procedure (foot bath, etc) BUT ALSO INCLUDES exfoliation of the feet and legs with some kind of exfoliation cream, firm massage of the feet and leg, exquisite attention to details when it comes to nail cuticles and clipping away dead skin, GREAT conversation in non broken english, and more!!!!! Also they have a full spa service available upstairs if you were in the mood for a full body massage. They also do manicures, etc. And if you really want to relax you can sit back and have a cool cocktail while getting a pedicure, manicure, massage whatever your choice may be... All i can say is sit back and drink up! Same problem as everyone else.. Purchased the groupon offer and tried calling to make an appointment, no one answers. I tried walking in so I could use this darn groupon I've already purchased and that didn't go so well either. It's ticked away and very hard to find, which is not their fault but all the more reason to be a bit more welcoming and friendly than the woman was to me. The door is also closed? So I slowly opened it not knowing if I was supposed to knock, and there was something blocking me, the woman then popped her head out and said "Do you have an appointment or something?" No.. I was just hoping you had availability today for a manicure? The salon was empty (truly, just her) and she turned me down, in a rather uncomfortable and cold manner. I showed up and no one else ever did to do my nails. The receptionist kept calling the nail technician to no avail. I had to leave because I was tired of waiting around. This review is for the appointment making process & customer service, I cannot speak for the services... Like many others, I purchased a Google Offer. I tried calling several times to make an appointment, but due to their limited weekend availability (Saturdays only) and evening availability (last appointment at 6pm) it was tough to find a time that wasn't already booked and worked for someone who works full-time. I finally booked an evening appointment, but they called me back the following week and said "I don't know who booked you at that time, but we are closing for a special event so you can't come at that time." So, again had to reschedule out a few weeks to the next available evening on a Thursday. I checked my calendar after hanging up and had a conflict, so I called back immediately to let them know I'd like to move it to back one day to Wednesday. "Sure, no problem" they told me. Fast forward to that Wednesday. I sat in 45 minutes of rush hour traffic to get there for my 6pm appointment. There was no one at the reception desk, so I peeked around to find someone that worked there. I let her know I was there for an appointment and she told me "there's no way you have an appointment." She looked at her calendar and I was still booked for the next day - the person I had spoken with had not changed the books. She was unfriendly and unapologetic, and she said "I guess I could do you in an hour but..." My post-traffic self didn't want to sit there waiting for another hour nor make uncomfortable small talk during a manicure that she clearly did not want to give me. I decided I'd rather throw away the $25 I spent on the Google Offer and left. Investigated this morning and evidently Google will offer a refund! read more

Like others on here I had a google offer for a series of manicures here and haven't been able to use them. I've tried making appointments and they are never able to accommodate me. I've also tried walking in, even on a weekday and they still were not helpful, the owner was pretty rude. Hair done, nails done, everything did.... Well actually just the nails part. My sister and I came to remove our current Gelish manicure and get a new set. (I found this place from Groupon and thought I'd give it a try.) The girl who did my nails was nice, very clean and meticulous about cleaning up my cuticles. However, my nails were cut unevenly (right pinkie was very short but the left was long), the gel was slightly uneven in some places and I got a chip/started peeling in the corner of one nail within a week. My previous gel manicure lasted 5 weeks without a single chip. No joke. Side note: Although the ladies there were nice, I felt like the manicure was rushed and resulted in all the aforementioned issues. I'll stick with the Vietnamese experts next time... read more

First off it helps to read others Yelp reviews...I had no problems finding the place!!! The place it petite but cute. I had one of the first appointments in which to use my groupon. Since I brought multiple, I was given a punch card. I look forward to returning. The quality of work of work for the technician I have been seeing is not great. First time I never get my hands soaked prior to getting manicure, totally dry. Nails are never filed properly causing me to refile and color application could be better. I have gone to my "regular" place in between appointments. Sucks cause the people and atmosphere are really enjoyable. read more

I bought a prepaid card of five manicures for something like $25 .... sounds good, huh? Think again. I learned a lesson that day, which is READ THE DETAILS about the business before committing to a Groupon or LivingSocial or whatever. If I had known they would be a) closed on Sundays and b) closed until 11 a.m. almost every other day I would not have even considered coming here! I've had 4 manicures there so far. Two were awful -- lumpy and gross -- and had to be redone. Two manicures were great. Those aren't winning odds in my book. Also this place is upstairs with bad ventilation, which means it's hot as hell on the hot days. I swear to you one of the employees came in wafting a cloud of pot smoke: that was not my imagination. And I don't have to remind you about the dire state of affordable parking in those environs. One last gripe: their web site offers online reservations through BookNow ... FAIL. i really wanted to give this place a good rating but I don't know how to lie. Unfortunately, there were more Cons than Pros for my visit. Shall I break them down for ya? Pros -The decor is really nice and inviting. I couldn't stop looking at the pedicure stations because of how it was setup and decorated. -Stacy, who did my massage and eyebrow wax, was nice and friendly. -They fit me into their schedule for a last minute, day of massage appoinment! Cons -Place was hard to find. Just know that it's near the 580 on-ramp above the tanning salon -The door to the room where I had my massage looked like one of those folding closet doors. While I was waiting for Stacy to come in to start my massage it felt like the people that were talking outside of the room were in MY room with me. -The traffic noise outside was loud. The nature cd that they were playing in the room didn't do a good job to hide the noise outside. -It was stuffy and hot right when I walked in. Even when I undressed for my massage I was hot! I can't even imagine how stuffy it would be on a hot day. -Parking is terrible in the area. Be prepared to walk if you don't get lucky enough to find a decent spot. This was my 1st visit, for an Ultimate Manicure/Pedicure, and it was a very pleasant experience. Aside from the quality of the work and products used being excellent, the best thing about this place is that it's friendly, and Taylor and her staff interact with you while you're receiving your services. A little pet peeve of mine is getting nail service from someone who keeps their eyes down and won't talk to me. It makes me feel like a creep. Taylor's place is not like this. The vibe is very hanging out in your girlfriend's living room chatting and having a good time. This is my kind of experience. Plus, I was offered wine, which wasn't even advertised. What a friendly perk! The other woman having her nails done next to me seemed like she'd been coming to Taylor for a long time, which was reassuring to me as a 1st-time client. I was really excited about trying this place. Even after reading the Yelp reviews, I was optimistic. I have been getting shellac and gel for a few years and I have never had an experience like this. I am going to assume this is $12 worth of service since this is all I paid for through Groupon. When I got to the salon a young lady opened the door did not greet me and simply said "I gotta go set up". She left me standing there and didn't offer a seat or a glass of water. It was a hot day. She did my nails and the only time she spoke to me was to ask the shape and color. When she finished there was color on my skin on one of my cuticles and it seemed as if it would lift immediately. It did the next day. Before I left I asked her about and she didn't offer to fix it. Simon said "it's on your skin"!!!! The owner,I am assuming was the owner came in while I was getting my nails done. Talked to the young lady doing my nails and never spoke or even looked at me. Note I never actually received service here - hence the negative review. I purchased the Living Social deal for 3 Gelish or Shellac Manicures. I called up and asked for an appointment for a Gelish manicure the next day over my lunch break. The first thing the woman says is, "Okay, Did you say you had the Living Social deal" No, I did not say, but I do have the deal. I make the appointment, no problem. Fast forward to my appointment day. I come to work to find a lunch meeting scheduled - oops. I call as soon as they open to reschedule and the woman says, "You have a LivingSocial deal, right?" Right. "Well, I will have to take one of your visits off of your voucher - it states that policy on the voucher". I tried explaining the situation but she would have none of it. I explained I was rescheduling - not cancelling. Still no budging. Finally I tell her that if she insists on taking it off that I will get a refund from Living Social and not do business with them. She is fine with that. I think she thought I was bluffing. I called today and got my refund (kudos to Living Social, THEY know customer service!) Many businesses have a similar policy, but a wise business owner knows I am simply rescheduling and wants to keep my business - and my money. It is their loss. I very well could have become a very loyal long-term customer, but now I will be sure not only to never go there, but tell everyone I know about how awful I was treated. read more

I had a horrible experience at this place. I was 10 minutes late for my pedicure and manicure appointment. Its very hard to find parking around this area and this was my first time coming here. When i arrived the woman said i had to choose to have just the manicure or pedicure because i was late and she had an 5pm appt. The manicure and pedicure wouldnt have taken more than an hour. When i pointed this out to her she just shrugged her shoulders and repeated her offer. I then tried to make an appointment for another day. She said she couldnt reschedule the appointment. Although she was very nice and friendly, I have experienced better mani/pedis. Brows done by the owner lenora? they came out pretty good. Here's my quick breakdown. Pros: -CLEAN (they use sticker like scrub pads on each client, and peel them off and throw them away) -Decor is very nice -they serve alcoholic beverage Cons: -They dont give massages for their mani/pedi. (esp having a pedi, the massage is the best part!) -- but you can purchase your massage at $1/min at 5 minute minimum -The shellac mani-- supposedly last 14 days, but my chipped in 2 days!!!! Came here based off a ridiculously amazing amazon deal for a massage and a brow design. Staff was incredibly friendly. The location, although hidden, is nice and the place itself is cute. My masseuse was Stacy. The massage was absolutely perfect. Perfect amount of pressure, perfect amount of oil (not too much that I feel greasy, thank goodness), just perfect. Excuse the revolting metaphor, but it felt like the tension in my body was being squeezed out like a bad zit hahah. Amazing. Wish it had lasted longer. The brow design was not as great. She didn't ask any questions on how I wanted my brows to look which made me feel like either: 1. she knew what she was doing and I'd be super pleased, or 2. she was doing something scary with my brows. It ended up being sorta neither, but I wish she had asked because they didn't look great going into the design and they didn't look great going out of it either. However, the brow design was a small part of the experience, and in terms of the massage. I'd highly recommend it. read more

Face and Body by Taylor is awesome! The staff are real friendly, prices are very reasonable, and you get a free drink! What more could you ask for?!?! I've had a pedicure and a manicure with acrylic gel. Pedicure: Awesome!!! Tiffanie was great - I enjoyed chatting with her and she helped me choose a really cute color for my toes. She was super patient while I took my time choosing a color, and I got a very thorough service for just $22. My feet spent significant time in a jet-lined tub, and she made sure that I was comfortable with the temperature. There was the typical foot scrub with a paddle, followed by moisturizing food scrub and lotion. Much more satisfying than the 20-min in-and-out service I've received elsewhere! Manicure: Good, but so-so (hence the 4 stars instead of 5). I got my manicure on Thursday for a Saturday wedding (my own). The manicurist, Tonia, recommended that I get acrylic gel so that the color would be sure to stay through the wedding. It was a good call, especially since my manicures don't tend to stay. However, the acrylic was a bit clumpy here and there, and it looked a bit thick. I really liked the nails but they looked a little sloppy. The nails still looked perfect in the pictures, but will think twice about acrylic gel next time. Nonetheless, I will still totally go back to Tonia next time (she's super nice), but I will simply avoid the acrylic gel. read more

I had the pleasure of meeting Janine (nail technician and Shellac specialist) and I also received a wax from the owner, Miss Taylor (first name escapes me) I read a lot of these reviews before posting and all i have to say is - "chill out." This is a cute business that is located out of main street view, if you are having trouble looking for it, read the upcoming stores addresses located on the store fronts and do deductive reasoning. They try hard to maintain the biz by accommodating with Groupon and LivingSocial. I managed a salon and spa for 10 years and can say (especially for a smaller place) it is tough to make everyone happy and sometimes booking mistakes happen. Remember Grouponers and LS'ers you did get a discount but tip as if you were paying full price. Some quick observations from my visit: *I didn't find it muggy in there, they have a lot of ventilation and are very accommodating to everyone's comfort level *I was offered many drinks upon arrival - I opted for the wine. *The wax pot should have been free of wax drips around the pot though, that caught my eye right off. *I was offered a variation of soothing oils after my wax *Janine checked in on my comfort level constantly *Janine's foot and hand massages were great, next time though I will tell her to go a bid deeper on the hard worked appendages. ;-) Overall good experience. I used the services of Rashedeeh at face and body for my wedding! The day before my wedding I still didn't have anyone to do my makeup. I called Face and body by Taylor and rahedeeh (I think I've misspelled her name) took care of me on friday with waxing and eyebrows. Although she was too booked to come to my hotel as I prepared for the wedding, she did my make-up and helped me to feel like a princess! She was kind, thoughtful, fun and best of all, really listened when I told her that I how I wanted to look. Somehow she made my face look flawless! *note to self* If it ain't broke don't fix it. With that being said, I strayed away from my regular nail shop, waited til the last minute and decided to get my nails done. But since it was a Friday and it's in your best interest to have an appointment at my regular shop I was pretty much S.O.L. So I was referred here, it was $5 more than my regular nail shop, but they're ownd and operated by people of color (AfAmer), and they offer drinks!!! I had a cosmo martini. Yea it's not how I make them, but it's the thought that counts and it was free. (maybe that where the extra $5 comes in at??) Overall the shop was nice, decorative, no toxic fumes like the other salons.. Although they informed me that they were in the process ofmoving around the corner, and the shop would look better once set up over there. I just don't think I got all that I was to get for my shellac manicure. But was distracted with the talking and getting antsy cause it was taking waaay longer than it needed to be. So of course upon looking at my nails the next day. They looked..o-k, there were some imperfections. One thumb nail longer than the other, the outer edges of my nails could've been cleaner. I got french manicure and she could've put another coat of the white on top. But I will say that she did a pretty good job free-handing the tips as opposed to other places putting a guide on the nail. Unfortunately I won't be back to get my nails done. I will give the pedicures a shot. They have these big 'executive' spa chairs that sit on a platform, looks really comfy. But one thing about it is, they don't have the built in massager, but I also heard that they make up for it during your leg/foot massage. I came in here today for a massage (deep tissue, 30 min) and regular bikini wax. I enjoyed both (well, not so much the wax because I never enjoy those) and I will go back. They are nice people, quick, friendly and efficient. I especially like that it's within walking distance from my home!
