Coffee Shop No. 483 Black Sheep Coffee Harrisonburg, VA March 23, 2025 I have a wishlist of towns and coffee shops; some of the places are chosen for their ratings, their location, and others I've selected because of their name. This coffee shop mad the list because of their name. Black Sheep Coffee sits on the corner of the historic town of Harrisonburg, Virginia. The coffee shop is bright and open. The baristas were friendly and engaging. The left side of the coffee shop is perfect for groups studying or just hanging out or if you prefer sipping your cortado solo than you can settle into one of the comfy leather wingback chairs. Enjoying life one cortado at a time!

This place has such a nice ambience! I loved the coffee and all of the comfy seating options. They have great food as well.

A great coffee shop in Harrisonburg! There is plenty of indoor seating and coffee is delicious! They also had some smoothie options as well. Pricing is comparable to other coffee shops. There is street parking so it may not be the easiest to get a spot nearby the shop during busy hours. All in all, great coffee shop and hope to visit again!

Best cafe i've been to in harrisonburg!! I myself am not a coffee girl, but I love a good matcha and can confirm this may be the best matcha I've ever had... EVER. The prices are great here and the inside ambiance is very causal and cozy. There is plentiful seating and a separate area with couches to chillax. The staff were very friendly and overall helpful. Highly recommend if you're in town!

Black Sheep has every other coffee shop beat for matcha! I've tried them all in Harrisonburg and Black Sheep has the best. Their chai is also nicely spiced. I love the seating options and cozy vibe in this coffee shop. It's my favorite place to get some work done. The baristas and cashiers are always nice and welcoming. Love!!!

Cute and cozy shop with simple but sufficient selection! The shop is very open and has plenty of space for seating. Some industrial type seats and some very cozy old furniture. The walls and counters are a little busy with signs and items, but once you find the menu, it's easy to read. There are maybe 4-6 breakfast items, mostly the usual biscuit sandwiches, but they also have some creative wraps available. I would like to see a few more items with meat, but you can add bacon to anything! Hannah was very sweet and helpful in making selections. The other girl who helped us was also kind. Something really enjoyable about the atmosphere is there wasn't loud music playing! I've found this more often than not in local shoppes; I find my company and I competing with the music to be heard. Not the case here! My husband, 5 year old daughter and I chatted easily without struggling to hear or worse, without having some unsavory music forced upon us My husband and daughter both got BEC biscuits. Enjoyable, but nothing noteworthy. I ordered a spinach, blue cheese and egg wrap, which was delicious! The only meat option I could add was bacon, so I did, but they forgot to include. They quickly gave me some very tasty slices of bacon but I couldn't put them in the wrap. As a breakfast item, it would have been nice to have sausage as an option, but even without, it was very good! We also ordered the peanut butter chocolate coffee cake. Sounds delicious, right?! It was tasty cake, but besides the chocolate chips, we couldn't taste anything but usual coffee cake. The piece was a substantial piece, which would have been great had it been worth the calories. We threw most of it away. The coffee was enjoyable. Again, a simple selection of one light and one dark roast. The lack of options is something we appreciated as opposed to being met with a surplus of blend options. Overall, I would visit Black Sheep again and I recommend it for a lighter fare or just a good place to read. If you're really hungry, save this for another time.

    Industrial chic vibe rocks.

Very cool spot. Had I known this wasn't too far off the highway last trip, I'd have come here and not Starbucks. I always prefer independent spots whenever available over the chains. Black Sheep is also an example of awesome repurposing of old industrial buildings. Why this can't happen countrywide is absolutely mind boggling. This particular building housed several other cutting edge dining options, retail and office space. At Black Sheep you've got pastry choices including vegan and gluten free along with hot food items. Had I seen that menu first, I'd probably have ordered something from there instead of grabbing a muffin. The space is uber industrial chic - perfect to write your novel or muse about how messed up this alleged reality we find ourselves existing in actually is.

We came to Black Sheep to enjoy a coffee and plan a future vacation together. The coffee was excellent, and they had plenty of other beverage options. Their baked goods looked awesome. The atmosphere was super relaxed and chill. There were plenty of tables to sit and work at... and there's free WiFi! Definitely will be a regular for us!

Well... I found my go to coffee shop in Harrisonburg! I like some of the others and I'm sure they make great latte art... But I found a coffee shop that offers many single origin roasts from 3 different roasters. They have Red Rooster, Little Amp and Ceremony Coffee Roasters. All serve variety of beans from Ethiopian Worka, Sumatra, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Burundi, Mexico etc. I really enjoyed the Ethiopian Ardi from Little Amp! It was slightly floral, full nutty body with a nice sweet acidity as a finish. I highly recommend it. It's a large, open and beautiful coffee shop with plenty of space for everyone to park and study. It's a bit hidden and you'll have to navigate to get there from the farmer's market parking lot. It's part of the ice house building.

Typical coffee shop with eclectic vibes. Menu is good but service is the usual thing for a caffeine hub. Parking? Not sure about that

The place has a good vibe but the staff was rude, and my cappuccino was mediocre and lukewarm when I got it.

Simply put, the bodega breakfast sandwich might be the best breakfast sandwich I've ever eaten. I took it to eat on the road and was startled about how delicious it was. The freshly baked (you can tell) brioche bun with everything bagel seasoning on top added a great salty taste to go along with the tasty stuff inside. I've traveled all over the country for work for 20+ years, and like I said, this might be the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had! To top it off, the staff was super nice.

I think it was because they enjoyed working there. Or, at least it give them a chance to eat some really tasty food. I had their Cubano Tartine. That's kind of like an omelet with the ingredients of a Cubano sandwich, except for the roll, mixed in. (And yes, I get that the cooking process is a bit different.) ' Anyway, this Cubano Tartine shows up on a plate in front of me. I dig in and keep digging. The ingredients, ham, cheese, pickles, etc, were plentiful and delicious. They were sitting on an ample slice of their sourdough bread. That was the first issue. It was IMPOSSIBLE to cut. I guess I could have asked for a steak knife or maybe a power tool. But, there was so much other stuff that I was able to have a very filling meal without it. The other issue was that the lightly dressed side salad was doused in dressing. Again, didn't complain because, for me, it wasn't a problem during this visit. Issues aside, if I come back to Hagerstown, I'll look for an excuse to come back.
