The service was terrible. We asked for a plain scrambled egg for our 5 year old. They put chives in and when I asked them to remake it, she told me rudely that it would take her 25 minutes to make as if I was inconveniencing her. When I responded back it was for my 5 year old then they had it out in 5 minutes. However, it made me very upset and uncomfortable the way I was talked to. Our food was also ready and they left it sitting out in the counter without yelling out our name and we were sitting right next to it while it went cold. I think the average rating of this local coffee spot is accurate. Small place to grab coffee, chill, or grab and go. Good amount of options, including bubble tea, frozen drinks and warm ones. Not all coffee related. Also with a lot of food options and dessert options. I ordered the toffee and cream cold brew in a small. Small was definitely small, but I was glad because it tasted a little watered down. I noticed that the barista poured some milk in too instead of just cream. My boyfriend got the turtle latte and didn't finish it, it seems coffee runs a tad sweet here. Keep that in mind while ordering. We also got the chocolate croissant, that was a surprise! It was delicious. When I asked for it warmed she pointed to the "customer microwave"...I would've preferred it in a toaster to crunch it a little but the chocolate melted and I loved it. We went here for an afternoon coffee. I had a cold nitro salted carmel coffee. I can't quite pin down the flavor. It was sweet and there was some carmel flavor but it lacked any strong coffee flavor. There was a distinct aftertaste that I found unpleasant. I couldn't finish it. My husband got a toffee and cream cold brew. His comments were flavorless and watery. This used to be my go-to coffee shop. Unfortunately, they got rid of their stamp card/buy-10-get-1-free card which was a large draw. Their scones although inauthentic, are delicious and rich. Their flavored lattes are decadent and their plain dark and light roasts are exceptional. The small shop has a simple and quaint ambiance, but could use some chair and table updates. I want to love Greenberry's, I really do. It's right down the street from me. But it's just OK. Allow me to lay it out for you: Pros: nice staff, the free wi-fi, good study/meeting place, decent coffee, tasty daybreak breakfast burrito, drive-thru window, lots of community flyers to see what's going on in town. Disappointments: takes a while to get said burrito, pastries often gone by 9am, croissants look good but if you want them heated you have to microwave them, no simple syrup for iced coffees (a sign, I believe, of a legit coffee shop), the half and half is usually empty and the counter to add cream and sugar is always a mess (they're super busy, but there also doesn't seem to be a simple way to get to the counter either), only plastic straws for stirrers... Truth be told, there are few good coffee joints in the 'burg, so Greenberry's will do. But, let's give Court Square Coffee, Organic Grounds and the coffee truck a try before giving Greenberry's the Best of the Valley another year. read more

Came here last night for the first time, my husband and I wanted something sweet after dinner. The place is warm and cozy. There was a knitting group having a meeting in the corner and there were Students from JMU studying. The smoothies were pretty decent. Normal pricing, pretty fair. With a smidgen of reluctance (chain coffee shops really spook me), I'm going to have to admit that this is the most decent coffee in town with the exception of Blue Nile. Fantastic overpriced organic cookies and the usual cafe bakery fare. Chai and soy to be had. Free wireless and consistently poor radio selection - but isn't that why God made headphones? I find this to be a valuable study spot because it is so free from visual distraction. Last year, Greenberry's was a frequent haunt of mine. Unfortunately, I spent too much of my money there. If it hadn't been for the amazing man with the curled mustache, this place may not have a single redeeming quality. I always walked with raised brow suspiciou next to the pastry counter. As some people have duly noted, the croissants are noted as being "baked on premise," yet everything manages to have that fresh-out-of-the-sysco-truck-and-warmed-up taste. Sysco is often a plague on most communities, as it essentially carries mundane food and allows for unimaginative food preparations. That plague seems to have crawled its way inside the blood of Greenberry's. The coffee is such a disgrace. Coffee is promising when first entering this place, as the very new and stylish Nuova Simonelli is glowing and pumping out steam, the place is typically clean and beans appear to be freshly ground for each customer's drinks. With all the brewing equipment and with such a high clientel, the baristas have such a great opportunity to perfect their lattes, their steamed milk and calibration of their espresso shots. Instead, soy lattes I've been served taste like bland warmed up milk. With all these ingredients, Greenberry's has so much potential, but falls so short in its preparations. Unless matters change, and their advertisement announces this to customers, stick to the free water and avoid the pastries, if you have to (which, no one ever "has" to). Otherwise, grab coffee and pastries somewhere else and avoid letting the plague infect you too. read more

So, being the kind and friendly people of the Harrisonburg community that they are, they tow you!!!! After you spend $7 on a coffee, you get a $250 towing charge! It's honestly so disgraceful and pathetic that a local company (that is basically funded by JMU students) is willing to ruin a customer's day because they are so vengeful about parking spots. There are 100 other coffee shops in Harrisonburg that treat their customers better than Greenberry's does. Honestly, Starbucks does a better job than Greenberry's. Went to use my free coffee coupon and for some reason the woman at the register could not get it to work, even though I had never used the coupon before. She asked if I wanted to use another coupon, but obviously I wanted to use my free drink one. She looked at my app, saw the coupon, and still refused to give me my coffee. I didn't have my wallet as I was on my way home from work. Ridiculous they did not just give me the coffee they had already started making. The beauty of Greenberry's is how consistent it is. While completing grad school at JMU, I frequented this coffee stop as a means to get off campus and as a means to get caffeinated. The coffee here is excellent. I love the chocolate turtle latte. The seating could use some updating and you can't really find outlets except by one space. I would rather study at home but they had a pretty good coffee so I decided to come back. I checked in because they were running a promotion for a free coffee. They actually have no idea they are running a promotion, as the cashier went to the manager who told him that they couldn't honor it.
