We were fortunate enough to enjoy the annual Christmas party. A really nice bonus on top of great wine. Tastings are available by appointment during the week and on weekends reservations are highly recommended. Price points are manageable for tastings and wine. The folks here really know their business and we enjoyed everything about this visit. We even ended up leaving with a few wine bottles to fill the wine cellar!

A truly educational wine tasting experience with a knowledgeable and friendly server who made everything easy to understand. The reds were my favorite, especially the Cabernet Sauvignon, rich and perfectly balanced. The charcuterie was amazing, with a great selection of cheeses that paired beautifully. The ambiance is classy and inviting, making it a perfect spot to relax and savor. Highly recommend!

When most other stops were busy Black Stallion was gracious enough to accommodate my guest and I for a tasting just before closing. The grounds are beautiful and offer educational postings on several of the the vineyards. The tasting also wasn't very expensive either (they offer different tiers). Beautiful drive in as well.

Black Stallion Estate Winery was absolutely amazing in every single way! We had a group come in to experience the winery, wine tasting as well as an amazing lunch out on the mezzanine! Everything from the wine maker to the general manager to the chef was spectacular in every way! We were all so impressed with our experience that many of us, including myself, joined the wine club so that we can continue enjoying these amazing wines after we have left the Napa area. We highly recommend Black Stallion for your group events as well as for your small intimate gatherings. Thank you for an amazing experience!

We reserved a picnic table here which is a $25 minimum per person when purchasing wines. With this option, we were able to bring in our own snacks and food. First off, I appreciate how accommodating the staff were! We were running quite behind our scheduled time and they let us push back our reservation. My friends and I chose 4 bottles of wine which came out to be about $37 each since there were the five of us. One of the employees walked us to our picnic table it was quite of a walk but the set up outside was really nice. When we got there there was a sign with our party's name and a bag with cups and a wine opener. They also provided water and napkins for us. All of the 4 wines were good but I think my favorite was the rose one. The employee that walked us to our table was really friendly and kept checking in on us asking if we needed anything. Our table was reserved for two hours but we actually ended up staying longer since we were tryna finish all of our wine. We were told we could walk around looking outside at the garden and vineyards but we were there for so long the place was already closing by the time we were done with our wine. We really enjoyed our time here at Black Stallion and I highly recommend reserving a picnic table if you want something more chill and casual than the standard wine tasting!

Quality/Quantity - Mixed Tasting - Two whites, two reds, see picture. Sauvignon blanc, white wine blend, tempranillo, and a cabernet. Red Tasting - My selection, pinot noir, syrah, and two cabernets. Cheese & Charcuterie - Small plate, but enough for us because we really just came here to try their wines! Decent assortment. Additional glasses, splashes of oakville and howell cabernets. See pictures of all our glasses. I also liked the different unique shapes of our glass. It felt like I was back in chemistry class. Atmosphere - Beautiful winery. Clean modern bathrooms. Decent assortment of merchandise souvenirs, see pictures. Plenty of parking, also for EV vehicles. Good size winery, both indoor and outdoor seating. Raining today, so most people were indoors. Also several private tasting rooms, see picture. Open 7 days a week from 10am to 5pm. Service - Good. Got some business cards to maybe set up a future tour. Tours are typically not offered to the public. Wine club available, see picture or website. Events available, see website. Food and wine pairings are also available, see website. Price - Our guest fought for the bill and actually won... I think it came out to approximately $151. I left a generous tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1924.

Had the day off to catch up with a friend and decided to head up to Napa to try their Portfolio Tasting of 2 reds and 2 whites ($45/pp) in their outdoor seating. The wine options were pretty good however the service from the Sommeliers could've been better. Came in for our reservation on a Friday afternoon and was instantly greeted then guided to options outside to sit. There were probably 3 other parties aside from my friend and I, and we were able to choose a spot far enough from others that we could enjoy our own conversation. Our guide poured us our first glass and let us know our host will be with us shortly to explain its profile. My friend and I waited before taking our first sip so we can have the full run down but it wasnt until 30 minutes or so later we actually met our Sommelier. They were surprised we haven't started drinking but out of respect of wanting to know the details we waited. Initially the lack of urgency didnt bother us since my friend and I were taking the time to catch up but after a while of not being checked in on, especially when there werent many other parties lead us to think they weren't taking us seriously (my friend and I look a young). The times the Sommelier did come to our area, explanations felt rushed and not attentive - as if they were ready to help someone else. Despite this my friend and I enjoyed the tastings and even stayed to try a Rose. I enjoyed more of the whites wines than the other options. Lovely space but we weren't sold on buying a bottle to take home.

Black Stallion is a true gem of Napa Valley. I have visited several times and each time is just as good as the last. When you enter the property, you can immediately see how beautiful and well-taken care of the estate is. A little unknown tidbit: This winery used to be an equestrian center and if you ask the staff, you may even be able to hear all about the history! Now, they have a huge tasting room that is beautifully decorated and these days, it's more common to experience your tasting on their large patio. The patio is covered and extremely comfortable for both small groups and large parties. Now to the wine, you'll get your choice of several different tastings. As I have tried nearly all of their options, I can assure you that each tasting will give you amazing wine. I am personally partial to the prestige tasting. The service here is always wonderful and I cannot recommend Black Stallion enough. If you're in Napa, make sure you make plans to visit, you will not regret it!

First winery every in Napa that we've visited. It was pretty good. I liked that we got to sit outside and it was all really shady and on a pretty patio. The staff was friendly and talkative but no one explained the wines or even described them to us. How they were grown, the soil the process nothing. That was a little disappointing. You hear all these wonderful things about Napa wine tasting and then it's just blah. I gave it 4 stars because it's easy to book and the vineyard is really pretty. Plus the staff was kind which makes everything all the better. It kind of stinks that we ordered our charcuterie board and it came in a box and we had to open everything which is kind of annoying but they said it was Covid protocol! Which I found to be bizarre because they don't bring your wine out in little separate bottles. It just sounds to me like the staff is lazy and don't want to put the board together in the back so they make you do it yourself. All in all I doubt we will be back but it was a good enough first experience.

I really enjoyed black stallion winery. It was the last stop of the day and really surprised me in a positive way. First, the staff was very friendly and funny. I think his name was William, although he sometimes go by Jack. (lol) The Cab wine was actually one of the better ones that we tasted in Napa especially considering the price point. They also have an adorable shop with lots of items to purchase such as Napa soap, scarves made of cashmere, and other items. I definitely recommend coming to this place especially if you want a more relaxed feel and casual environment. However, you still get delicious tasting wine and great service .

Ever since I was a child, adults always asked if I would like some cheese with that whine. Now old enough, I see what they meant. This was the first time I've ever been to a winery and Napa in general. There were gorgeous views, delicious grapes to eat off the vine (not sure if this was sanitary but I'm still alive and kicking), and great wines. William was a fabulous host and made sure our group had everything we needed for our friend's birthday from waters and snacks to helping with pictures and recommendations. Great jokes too and we knew he was experienced with his work. Had a tasting of 4 red wines, had some I liked and some I didn't which makes sense. Got some great photos in and felt nice to get away for a little bit (literally because phone service wasn't the best and finder ride-shares wasn't easy). It was great learning about wines and more specifically tasting them out of a bottle as opposed to a box. Great experience and very accommodating for our large group (12)

But dog friendly. Quality/Quantity - I had a hard time with the website making my appointment, it's a user issue as I am just not tech savvy. So I called and someone actually answered the phone and made my appointment for me, THANK you! We arrived 15 mins early, so we hung out in the lobby reading all the history, etc. Then Skip took us to the best view overlooking the vineyard for our tasting; see pictures! We sampled almost ALL the reds! All of which were good. See pictures. I like the fact that we did side by side tastings of many of his wines. My favorites were the 2022 Primitivo and 2021 Malbec, which we bought a few bottles of. Ambiance - Secluded private winery. Close to main Downtown Napa, but far enough away for privacy and a feeling of being far away. Appointment only, so very private and customer focused. Typically no more than 3 parties at a time. Today was considered a very busy day as there were 4 parties including us, lol. Gated private estate. 200 acres. Plenty of parking, especially since hosting only 3 guests at a time. Events - See their website. Well behaved dogs are allowed outdoors. Service - Skip is a history buff and we both talked for hours... After leaving, well really the next day (LOL), I realized that our tasting was supposed to be only 60 minutes. I guess because we got along so well, we stayed until closing! And he gave me a glass with a generous splash and let us walk the property alone after they left! So welcoming and trusting. Price - Depends on which tasting and what you buy; see their website for prices. Tastings range from $50 to $100 per person. One free designated driver allowed. Tasting fees waived with wine equivalent purchases. Hike tours $75 per person ($60 for club members). See their website for more information. The rail follows alongside the highway so views were not necessarily 'outstanding' because I was on the train. I do not need to ride this train to see these views. I did not have to drive, that brings the rating up, but there are MANY ways to not drive in Napa. It was a little rickety, but acceptable. The food, 2/5 stars, substandard for the cost. Portions were small (half a piece of bacon, 1 small egg for a Benedict, etc.) and taste was middle of the road. The service/staff 4/5. Most everyone was very hospitable and did their job well. However, it did feel as if we were 'just another group'. Everything is very script and not especially personalized. For example, I'm on a wine train and no one asked my wine preference. Which brings me to the wine we tasted on the train 1/5. I expected a higher quality of tastings. In addition, offer a choice of flight, white or red or a mix of both. Or, hear me out...offer wine pairings for each course (included with my ticket, not for extra cost). Stopping at the sign and enjoying the tasting in the open car was a wonderful choice, wine selection is greatly lacking and to be honest, a great disappointment. Overall, I enjoyed my time, but this was not necessarily due to being on the Napa train specifically, it was because I was on vacation in Napa. I could see the business cutting costs in almost every aspect and that is unfair because I am paying a premium cost of approx. $100/h. And for some of that time, I'm at the winery and not even on the train. Which brings me to the end of my rating, for the stops 2.9/5. The stops felt rushed, especially our first stop. They are about an hour each, but this includes disembark and reembark times. I wanted a little more time at each winery to make a purchase or walk the grounds. I will not be recommending this particular experience, I believe many improvements can be made. Lastly, I booked this experience due to several social media content creators experience. These creators are getting their experiences paid for. Be sure to read ratings from those of us not being sponsored.
