All I can say is WOW!! Absolutely the best breakfast that I have had on the Eastern Shore. Found this little place on Yelp and so glad that we did. Labor Day weekend Sunday and everywhere was extremely busy. This little gem was no exception. Super friendly help even though they were overwhelmed with customers. The long wait for our food was worth every minute. Simple eggs, meat, hash browned potatoes and toast...but perfectly prepared and generous portions. This place is a near perfect amalgamation of trendy feeling coffee shop and quality bakery. Plus, they have a griddle for hot sandwiches. Very nice atmosphere. Table service if you desire. Stopped here on the way to ocean city 3.6.2020. The place is totally adorable, clean bathrooms, friendly employees and friendly patrons as well. My partner ordered a breakfast sandwich with egg and sausage, and a side of hash browns. The egg on the breakfast sandwich was cooked perfectly, nice and runny yolk. It was on a croissant which was heavenly. You could definitely tell that this place is a bakery based off of the croissant alone. The hash browns were seasoned perfectly and cooked perfectly also. Nice and crispy, not overcooked or undercooked. Tasted like they were seasoned with seasoning salt (Lawry's) maybe. I got the green giant omelette, which had smoked Gouda, asparagus, and bacon. I also got a side of sausage patties. First of all, the sausage patties were to die for. Definitely homemade and cooked and seasoned perfectly. The omelette was delicious also and the asparagus was cooked perfectly. The food came out quickly after we ordered it. They even have dog biscuits! And homemade pop tarts! All of their baked goods looked delicious and I wish I still ate carbs haha. We agreed that this will be our breakfast stop moving forward on our way to the beach! read more

While he was finishing up his bike, I walked back into town and popped in to see if they had an available table and if there was one near an outlet so that I could charge my phone. The gentleman that seated me was unbelievably nice and accommodating. All the wait staff was smiling and welcoming to every customer sitting both inside and at the outside tables. Service was prompt! I ordered the Salmon BLT and it was melt in your mouth amazingness. A glass of their blueberry lemonade with muddled berries was so good, I ordered a second one. Finished off my lunch with a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie. This is a must visit restaurant , but arrive by remember the kitchen closes at 2:30pm. read more

We showed up after closing (we were clueless tourists and missed the call warning us about closing time), but someone graciously let us in after hours so we could pick up the first cake. Checked out this place for breakfast while we were vacationing in Cambridge. Their name is not a reference to any nearby body of water. It's a colloquial reference to the stuff served in a mug (duh). The place is super charming. I love the mix of seating options. Cute strands of lights hang from the ceiling that clearly would be even more charming once the sun goes down. You could tell from the patrons that were already seated that this is a cozy local haunt. They do have an on-site bakery and an eclectic menu of freshly prepared items. Note that this does mean you might be waiting a bit for your food. But you can kill the time enjoying their coffee and conversations with whomever you're with. It's a relaxed kind of place so if you're in a rush, don't be a buzz kill and just move on. Interesting variations on breakfast choices including avocado toast, steak and eggs, crab omelettes (natch) with a side of rough chopped potato hash, and western omelettes served with a side of arugula salad. All delicious and not overly seasoned. The neighborhood kind of seems a bit sketchy (eg the beat up alley way parking lot next to it) but the place is like a small hip oasis. One amateur interior design suggestion in case you're reading this Black Water - faux brick walls (or real ones!) and you'd be right at home in Brooklyn. Update-I've just been made aware that there is a nearby nature preserve called black water so an even more inspired name for a coffee shop! read more

Unfortunately we did not get to try this place. I made a reservation for 11:15 am for brunch on a Wednesday. We checked out of our hotel at 11 (hungry) and decided to swing into downtown Cambridge to check out this place on our way out of town. I was expecting a better experience based on the reviews I had read. When we walked in, we were not acknowledged by any employees for several minutes. Finally, we were told there would be a few minute wait. When I mentioned our reservation, we were told "never mind, that changes things, we will get you seated shortly!" We stood in the front for 15 minutes without being seated. There were several empty tables. One table began to be cleared off, but was still not ready. The staff seemed to be busy with online/phone orders and were ignoring the guests who were waiting in-person. One party was seated while we waited and did not receive menus or have a server stop by their table for the 15 minutes we waited. There was also a woman waiting for a takeout order who mentioned she'd been waiting an hour. We felt it was not worth waiting any more time to be seated, so we walked out. Great Place. We walked in on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30 based on recommendation from the visitors center. Place was packed and they asked if we had reservations (at a Bakery!!), we didn't, but they found us a table in short order. Everyone was very nice and waited on us quickly. We had omelets, the Green Giant and the Eastern Shore, and both were wonderful. WE also bought some bakes goods for later, they were great too. Note that this place is only breakfast and lunch and closes at 3:00pm. So we lucked out on our timing. From the historic building & high ceilings to the old farm house vibe, I loved the atmosphere of this small cafe. The coffee was a nice medium roast that tasted like it had just been brewed for me. My friend and I tasted the blueberry muffin sample when we first entered the cafe, and thought if it was any indicator of the food, we'd be in for a treat. The breakfast burrito was tasted, but the scrambled eggs made it a bit watery at the bottom. The hash browns were crispy, just the way I like them. With limited restaurants open at this time of year or day of the week maybe, we decided to try Blackwater Bakery for lunch. Normally, we would not choose a bakery for lunch, but I am so glad we did. What a find! We ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich with fries and the curry chicken wrap with home fries. Both sandwiches were excellent. Delicious combination of ingredients in the wrap that I would not normally put together. Walnuts and grapes in the sandwich? Yes! It works. We like really spicy food, but would not expect it in a place like this. The Nashville hot chicken had a little bit of a slow burn in it, but not what we would consider spicy. The home fries, however, were very seasoned with Cajun spice and freakin' delicious. If you don't care for spice don't order the home fries. I also ordered a hot chai latte with coconut milk and it was perfection. The service was quick, efficient and attentive.
