I got the most expensive sandwich, the Overflow Club, with pasta salad and a sweet tea all for about $9!

Overflow Cafe is 1 of my 20 favorite non-chain restaurants. This is one of the many local restaurants that I love for the concept but a lot more than that. The place is a ministry of sorts, as it's like the food version of a Christian Store, but less Bible thumpy, or as a paraphrase of their slogan says, "spreading the gospel through hospitality and love." How is this relevant to someone who doesn't want to go to a Christian restaurant? Very! You'll see Christian decor, and the "owner" (he hates titles, but he DID found the place) is a reverend, but they won't be preaching to you unless you ask of it. The best part restaurant-wise is that almost all funds for the place come from church offering, and the workers are volunteers, so you are basically paying for the food and nothing else. In other words, the food is worth half of what you're paying for! I got the most expensive sandwich, the Overflow Club, with pasta salad and a sweet tea all for about $9! On top of that, although a smaller server than I'd like (I got 2 of those cups) the pasta salad was the best pasta salad I've had in a while. While all surrounding restaurants will charge at least twice the price, Overflow Cafe supports the neighborhood with many different phenomenal events, cheaper price, and fantastic hospitality not ot mention great art! If you ever in Cambridge, go to 400 Muir Street for this experience. It's only coincidental that my journal (to the right of the table) is very fitting for this place haha.

Breakfast buffet is your standard fare but they do have smoked salmon with all of the fixings. Nice display of pastries and bacon and sausage. Potatoes rotate daily. They have an egg station to order eggs and omelettes (miss how it used to been / waitress provided a sheet for you to check which eggs you liked instead of waiting in line). For Globalists, the buffet is complimentary. Dinners here also have a buffet and it is $39 per person. Very pleased with their offerings. Last night they had raw oysters, peel n eat shrimp, and prime rib. Yum. So much better then their Blue Point Provisioning restaurant ($59 per person). Make sure to make reservations on Hyatt website! They finally renovated this place. It was much needed with new carpets and furnishings.

Drinks took so long that some never arrived, and one of our entrées was completely forgotten, leaving one person eating well after everyone else had finished. There was little communication or follow-up from the staff. The food itself was also underwhelming and not what you'd expect from a resort restaurant. To make matters worse, cleanliness was a concern. Flies were abundant throughout the dining area, and the ceiling air-conditioning vents were black with visible dirt and grime, which did not inspire confidence in the restaurant's overall maintenance. Overall, the combination of slow, disorganized service, subpar food, and cleanliness issues made for a disappointing dining experience. We expected much better from a Hyatt property. We ate off property for the rest of our stay.
