The range officers are always helpful too if needed. The sales floor is well stocked, very helpful guys behind the counter who are incredibly knowledgeable. We special ordered and got our items quick! We also took our LTC class here at BB with Tap Smith and learned so much while thoroughly enjoying the entire class. He kept our attention, used real life scenarios to make things stick and knew what he was talking about. Everything was organized from start to finish of getting our LTC. Highly recommend coming here for all needs. We came here first with the intention of going to other ranges until we found one we loved. Got stiffed for a 10 visit $100 range pass right before they sold, seems like you wouldn't sell those if the future was in question.

I had an interesting experience using them as an FFL Or to ship a firearm too from an internet purchase. I had never done this before so I called and asked if they will contact me when it arrives. They said they will NOT contact me but when the shipper delivers it I will get a text and come down after I receive that. I received the delivery notice and headed out half excited about the purchase since what I bought was hard to get. I walk in and I'm told that I will be contacted when ready since it wasn't checked in yet. I said I called trying to avoid the confusion and was told you WOULD NOT CONTACT ME WHEN READY. After saying that the owner had to play big bulldog in front of his employees and of course danced around not saying that. So pissed off me said a little swear while walking out the door and I said I'll come back tomorrow. This guy chased me out the door and said he was going to send the gun back where it came from. I requested he don't do that and played big asshole wanting me to apologize in front of his camera and employees making me feel foolish... I had plans on spending a lot of money there that day using the shooting facility and ammo, etc. I planned on signing up for the offered courses. I went back an hour later after they text me and everyone was so sweet and kind. That's for the 2 stars instead of one. I'll never return. There is another one a mile away. read more

Wow! I just had a phenomenal experience at Blackbeards. I have very introductory level knowledge of guns, and my past experiences in gun stores (even ones in Sherman) have left me feeling uneasy and often undermined especially as a woman. Sharing only because this is the first gun store I have been ever where I would come without my husband. I felt respected, heard, encouraged and excited at the thought of being able to really get comfortable around firearms. I spent a good amount of time talking to Shelby and her father the owner Tap. In truth, I won't be going to another gun place after the wonderful experience I just had. In every way, they go above and beyond. It's family owned so they care about literally every detail (and so do I which makes for a great match!). They aren't in a rush which is refreshing. They answered all my embarrassing questions and every single person working there knows their stuff!! I spent over 3 hours shooting in the range, walking around, learning and growing in knowledge about guns with no pressure or intimidation. In so many words, I just wanted to share, I highly recommend this place from range cleanliness & setup to gun and accessory selection & customer service. I visited Blackbeard over the weekend to practice on the range. I figured that I needed only an hour to reacquaint myself with a few things. While the range experience was great, what came after was simply stellar. Tap was super patient and extremely knowledgeable. He could have charged a fee for all that he did to help us. I left far more knowledgeable than I arrived. To make matters even better, I was able to purchase a safety device for a family member who loved the idea of not wielding a weapon. This is a fantastic gun store! Tons of inventory to choose from even though they opened up in the middle of COVID when everything was allocated. Tap is one of the nicest and most knowledgeable people you can possibly deal with in the area period! If you're lucky enough to come in when Les is there he's also a salt of the earth individual. I've bought eight firearms from them since they opened and also traded a few. I have done business with the other two major gun stores in the area and this is the place I shop at now. read more

Fantastic range and staff. Hard to find a place this friendly AND reasonable. I've been to several ranges in the DFW area and this is my favorite. Bought a trigger from them installed it didn't function properly because the bolt catch release was too short to fully disengage. Wouldn't work with me at all except wanting to have a gunsmith take my gun and shave down part of it to "make it work". Will not be back and very pushy "salesman". Have bought at least a box of bullets everytime I go there trying to be a good customer but apparently that doesn't mean anything! read more

Decent gun selection. However, here is the thing, if you buy frequent guns throughout a year's time You will find they are a bit high on their prices. Also, I find it personally offensive it you sell me a gun and 6 months later I want to sell the gun on consignment and you won't let me. Well, why would I do business with a place like that? Huge selection of items in stock. Prices are as good as you'll find anywhere. The thing that stands out is the friendliness of the folks who work there. Usually gun shops seem to be stocked with self-appointed experts and know-it-all curmudgeons who don't have time to talk with mere mortals like you and I.
