Looking for a cute, classy Turkish restaurant in the heart of Virginia Highlands. This is your…read morespot! I went for happy hour which I highly recommend. It's from 3-6pm Monday through Thursday (I believe). They have $6-8 cocktails and a variety of food in the $5-10 range. The food was all fantastic, as was our waiter. He constantly checked on us, kept the complimentary bread supplied, and gave great recs for both food and cocktails. I love a waiter who explains the menu so you know what you're getting into beforehand. As we were leaving, it was torrentially down-pouring and the host was so kind to let me borrow his umbrella to get to my car. It's rare to find this level of hospitality these days and it made my already great experience here even better.

Spots I would rather recommend for a nice night out are Delbar, Rumi's, and Yalda. My friends and I tried the Muhammara Dip, the Feta Cheese Rolls (reminiscent of spanakopita but no spinach and in roll form), the Truva Dumplings, and the Iskender Kebab. The Iskender Kebab and the Muhammara were the best of the bunch, but overall I think I was expecting more punch from the spices and greater nuance in the flavors of each dish. The thing I honestly enjoyed most was the complimentary bread and sun-dried tomato dip, which has gotten a number of shoutouts of Yelp already. I would come back to this spot to get a handful of appetizers, eat that bread, and hang out for a few hours. It does seem like the restaurant needs more staffing. Everyone we saw was very kind, but it took a long time to get a server's attention whenever we needed something.

I took an order of falafel with hummus to go for my sister. She said, the meal was delicious. The service was friendly and quick. It was a beautiful sunny day but we ate our meals inside the restaurant. Atmosphere was clean. We sat and ate our meals and enjoyed each other company for a few. Best decision we made. We were greeted immediately by incredible smells and some of the most welcoming, genuinely kind people I've ever encountered at a restaurant. My wife ordered a plate of baba ganoush for us all to share, and when they brought it out, they also brought us a plate of hummus and three trays of pita on the house! The baba ganoush had an incredible depth of flavor, it had a bright citrusy kick followed by a rich lingering smokiness, a must order in my opinion. Speaking of must order, the hummus, no hummus has even come close to being as good as the one I had here, you can't go wrong ordering it. Finally the pita, it was brought out fresh and warm, and was the perfect vehicle for transporting both the baba ganoush and the hummus. Even on it's own though, their pita was delicious. I ordered the beef shawarma plate with rice and hummus and it came with a side of tzatziki, and it was incredible! The beef was incredibly tender and well seasoned, the hummus as I said earlier was stunning, and the rice was done perfect, not too dry and not too wet, the perfect thing to tie the plate together. The only thing that made me sad was how empty the place was. I hope more than anything my review can convince you to go, because not only is the food amazing, but the people here are too. You won't be disappointed!

Juicy, perfectly seasoned, and wrapped in warm, fresh tortillas. No dryness, no shortcuts, just clean flavor that lets the grill speak for itself. You can tell the chicken wasn't rushed or drowned in sauce to hide mistakes. Now let's talk about the Adana mix grill. This is the kind of plate that makes the table go silent for a minute. Everything was cooked with intention. Smoky, tender, well-spiced meats that tasted like they came straight off an open flame, not a reheated pan. Portions were generous without being sloppy, and every bite held its own. The service was warm, attentive, and unpretentious. Staff actually checked in without hovering, knew the menu, and made solid recommendations. That alone puts Adana ahead of a lot of places. The ambiance ties it all together. Cozy but upscale, relaxed without feeling casual. Great lighting, clean space, and a vibe that works whether you're on a date, with family, or just treating yourself to a good meal. Adana isn't trying to be trendy. It's just focused on doing good food, good service, and good atmosphere consistently. And honestly, that's rare these days. Definitely a repeat visit.

Instead, we decided to try somewhere new and headed to Pita Corner in Lawrenceville. I ordered the beef shawarma with falafel. Let's start with the positives. The restaurant was clean, the dining area was well kept, and the restroom was spotless. It looked like it had just been cleaned, which I always appreciate. Now for the food. The beef shawarma had decent flavor, but it was so dry that every bite felt like a workout. The meat clung to the roof of my mouth and my teeth like it had signed a lease there. No amount of chewing seemed to improve the experience. Texture matters just as much as seasoning, and unfortunately, this missed the mark. The falafel ended up being the highlight of the meal. It was flavorful, had a nice texture, and was easily the best thing on the plate. I always like giving new places a chance, but this one just wasn't for me. While I appreciated the cleanliness and friendly environment, the food simply didn't leave me wanting to come back. If you'd like, I can also make it a little sharper and funnier for Yelp while still keeping it professional and believable.

I gave my honest opinion: Positive: -Beautiful interior with a lot of space for diners -Delicious foods with big proportions -Plenty of parking in a lit plaza Negative: -VERY slow service -Not greeted -No smile -Not very friendly Restaurant opens at 11:30 AM. I got there at 1 PM with my Aunt and there was nobody there. I went to the other side of the restaurant lingering and wondering if we should just go find our seat or stand there. There was another couple that was seated already. A server finally came out to deliver foods, don't even acknowledge us, and after putting her foods down, walked away. I had to stop her and asked if we seat ourselves. No hello, welcome, or anything. She didn't smile and only gestured something and walked away. We were confused and walked back to the other side where a man was at the register finally. We asked him the same thing and he went to go get the server lady. She finally took us to our booth. Again, didn't ask us if it's our first time, if we had any questions, nothing. The didn't let the lack of enthusiasm deter my mood because I am there to try out the foods. It took forever for the server to come back to get our order. Foods did arrived in a reasonable amount of time, big proportions, and everything tasted as good as it looks. Took us 2 hours from beginning to end dining there even though there were only 3 couples eating there, including us, during lunch on a Wednesday. That's how slow service was. I can't even imagine how it'll be during a big crowd on weekend nights. The prices were on the same level as Delbar and Rumi's. However, the other restaurants has top notch service. The service here acts as if we're doing them a favor by paying them for the foods. I will probably not come here again even though it's close to my area. If it still stands by next year, I will probably give them another chance.
