Monday $5 Coney dog special with house made chips.

In 1984 I took a job at an ad agency and was given the Toledo Edison Davis Besse account. The best way from downtown was on Williston Road to Route 2. Over the next 35 years I drove by Blackberry Corner's and was curious. I seemed to be always too busy to stop. I had heard stories about the hospitality, the great breakfast, the pizza and the Coney dogs. After meeting a customer in Catawba Island this morning, I decide to take the time to eat at Blackberry Corner's. I met Brenda, the owner and she recommended to Coney's. They were two for five dollars and were excellent. Brenda said that she starts every morning at 3:30 making the pie. And the pie looked fantastic, although I'm trying to avoid sugar. This friendly tavern is worth your stop if you're heading towards Port Clinton or the Islands. #Bobtravelstoeat

What a fun and surprising, unique take in local pizza. I've heard about this joint for years and was pleased to finally make it in. From the outside Blackberry Corners appears to be a divey joint in an old farmhouse. While it is pretty much just that the interior leaves much to be desired. It's weirdly bright and sparsely decorated with a mish mash of odds and ends that rival between sports bar and homemade cracker barrel ... or something. Some lightning (or less) and a discernible theme would do the place well. But the pizza is pretty solid. We opted for their version of a small supreme and what came out was a treat. The crust is average, thinish and chewy with a nice crisp, but the toppings - while not extravagant - were piled impossibly high and baked on top of the cheese. This allowed everything, sausage and veggies, to retain their integrity and flavor without just getting drowned in cheese grease. It was fresh and refreshing and i highly recommend it! The place also boasts a bevy of homemade pies which are the perfect comfort food follow up to any meal there. We sampled a few and they were all rich and tasty. For what it's worth, drinks are fairly cheap and they have the often coveted but rarely found jalapeño poppers with molten liquid cheddar cheese not just cream cheese. Cheddar wins for sure.

I normally do not leave reviews , but I just had to tell you how great this little place is. A nice long old school wood bar, plenty of tables, lots to look at. Can eat out front on the patio as well. Had some time to kill in the afternoon before the dinner rush and observed the staff getting ready. They took good care of me at the bar.... They seemed generally interested in setting up for a nice dinner atmosphere for their customers. The gentleman running the kitchen spoke with pride about the establishment and the owner when I inquired about how old the building was. We had a nice chat about Albuquerque and Bono. Good people. I came back for dinner around seven p m with my friend and it was a nice atmosphere with the band playing in the corner, not too loudly. We both had the perch dinner, I can't remember a better fish dinner than this one. The perch was golden brown, crispy fried, tender and tasty on the inside. Large portion of perch. Absolute perfection. The french fries were nice and crispy fried...fried green bean appetizer was also done perfect. I really can't say enough about how nicely done this was... I really didn't expect it to be this good. I had had perch dinner in saint clair shores , michigan , two nights before , and it couldn't even come close to this. This was pride in one's craft delivered right to the table. Chef Ramsey would approve. The atmosphere is nice, even a little game room with shuffleboard. Thank you to the owner and especially the good folks working at the Bono Tavern for making what I thought would be a simple meal into a memorable experience. Best perch dinner on the lake ! I enjoyed chorizo scrambled eggs, refried beans and home fries - see pic. It reminded me of my dear friend from work, Irma's family breakfast she'd share with us. Hubs had made his own feature, 2 huge pancakes, sausage & eggs, typical Oak Harbor diner fare executed very well; no pic because it's normal for Kozy's. We felt both of our breakfasts for fairly priced as they were plentiful. Kozy's still opens early for their regular breakfast features and has plenty of small town offering on their menu. They are now open later for Mexican dinner features as of 1/5/26, I'm looking forward for full on Mexican dinners to try! Jill, our server was as wonderful as ever--so pleasant, prompt service and kind, on our visit 1/9/2026. It was great to see so many long-time staff & friends still working there, under the new management. They always greet you when you come in and make you feel welcome. I especially enjoyed how enthusiastic the staff were about the new project and how the owner chatted about their new menu, when we paid for breakfast. The interior has been refreshed with a calm light blue gray paint, cream curtains, farmhouse wallpaper and tasteful Mexican pictures. The 50's mural has retired and extremely white ceiling lights have been toned down a bit. They still offer plenty of counter seats to dine at as well, nice for when you just want to quietly relax enjoy solid cup of coffee, good Mexican & check what's on Facebook/Pinterest a bit. Also, I enjoyed the beautiful Mourning Dove in her nest, in a small bush by the north-facing window, looking in at the diners activities. There's easy parking onsite and allowing quick access to the restaurant. They said they are in line for a liquor license but we all know that takes forever. I hope they ask town council for an amendment to get a boundary change for the DORA right away. Hopefully being in DORA would help move their license app to be approved. IMO there's nothing better than a good Margarita with my Mex or with today's to go changes, to have a treat at home. I wish there would be room for a nice patio there too lol! I'm so glad someone took a chance and opened Mexican food in town! I'm finding it hard to get excited about the new places popping up around here--it feels like they're all just trying to be the next burger joint, wing spot, or deep-fryer obsessed. I'm hoping we, as residents, can all lend a hand in supporting this family owned restaurant option.

I accessed my trusty Yelp! app and did a search for restaurants near by. We decided on going to Speed Trap Diner in Woodville (my first time). If you are like me, and have never been to this establishment before and you are into eclectic scenery, you need to stop in at this place! It has plenty to keep your eyes busy all the while you are there. The eclectic decor is similar to another one of my faves, Tackle Box II located in Fremont. I was like a kid in a candy shop with a pocket full of money snapping pics (as you can see in this review). We ordered the Trailmarker Omelette (breakfast served all day) with hash browns & rye toast, and the Chicken Parmesan Sandwich. Trailmarker Omelette was stuffed full of corned beef hash with onions and peppers with a light coating of melted cheese (yum). The hashbrowns were done to perfection and the lightly buttered rye toast was almost like Texas Toast - nice and thick and tasted so, so good (especially with strawberry preserves or honey)! The Chicken Parmesan sandwich presentation wasn't nearly as much of a statement as the Trailmarker Omelette, but still just as tasty. Needless to say - true Diner food done right. The server was very pleasant, attentive, and quite knowledgeable of the menu offerings as well as the eclectic decor. We will definitely be back for another visit to Speed Trap Diner in the future!!!

They were friendly, and the menu is simple, and just varied enough to make sure there are options but that every option can be perfectly executed. speaking of perfect, we did not get a burger, but I heard the guy behind me say "my first bite was perfect" as he tore into a burger that looked massive and juicy and just as perfect as he described. I'm not going to lie, we opted out of burgers because we thought we were going to a recently opened Korean corn dog place. When we got there, they were sold out and needed to shut down for a few hours- so we came in as a consolation prize. We decided to come in here and try some Korean barbecue wings, potato bombs, fries, and spring rolls. We decided to eat our way through the appetizer menu. The chile relleno spring rolls are decent in terms of flavor, but they are very small to be charging over two dollars apiece for them. Sadly, I didn't expect expecting it to be piping hot, it was lukewarm inside. Could have a little more spice to it as well. same issue with potato bombs. The flavor is good, could use a little more seasoning- but it wasn't hot enough in the middle. I think maybe they need to adjust their fryer temperature because the outside was very well done and the inside was not quite warm enough. Also, they brought everything out one piece at a time. First came the spring rolls. Over five minutes later came the potato bombs.... the food trickling out when it all came from the same fryer was weird. But the same person who took our order did deliver the food to the table each time. It's not exactly a sit down and get some type of restaurant so that was a very nice touch. It's probably more of a three star experience- but I'm being generous because we didn't order any of the things that they're actually known for and those burgers coming out looked stellar.
