Looking to have holiday lighting installed with a 2 month advanced notice for a date of installation in September 18th 2025. Electric doctor called the day before the installation date and stated that the parts were still in Chicago. Mind you I booked this way in advance and they cashed my check deposit. So no one called me for a follow up so I called back and told exact words it's not their fault they can t control shipping. Mind you I was a little upset and stated well if you had good customer service you would go pickup the parts as they are only in Chicago. I was then told I was being rude...wait this gets better. My husband calls today September 22nd as they did not have the courtesy to give us an update and wait for it...now they tell us the parts are in Canada after my husband was going to drive and pickup the parts in Chicago. I understand shipping but I booked in advance as I wanted my husband home and I took an extra day off from work and still no date of when the installation will take place and no apologies. I had been a customer of Electric Doctor for several years. That all came to a screeching halt a few weeks ago. I called to obtain service on my generator, which wouldn't start. The sub-contracted 'technician' (and I use that term loosely) came out and replaced the battery...in the rain. All of the panels/switches became wet and again, the generator wouldn't turn over or set the exercise time. He was unable to get the generator to start again but spent almost an entire hour hitting the starter button and draining the new battery he had just installed. He eventually threw up his hands and said that "I can't figure it out". He told me that I would be contacted by a technician...we'll call him Jeff, within the week. The week passed and no call. I called the receptionist/Praetorian, who told me Jeff had been in Wisconsin but would call me the following week. The week went by and no call. I contacted the receptionist/Praetorian again, the following week. This time she scolded me for "circumventing the system". To this day I still don't even know what that means. I wasn't happy and let her know I wasn't happy. She then hung up the phone. Haven't heard a peep since. Most of you may think this is a terrible example of customer service and you'd be correct. However, there is a silver lining to this story. Instead of nickel and diming' myself into oblivion with their shoddy service, I obtained an entirely new unit that was not purchased, installed or serviced by The Electric Doctor. I have the ultimate satisfaction of never seeing them set foot on my property again. Sure, I squandered 300+ dollars on an inept technician but look at all of the money I'm saving you. You can choose to use this establishment if you wish but there are plenty of options here in Davenport. You'd be silly not to use these options. If you ignore my advice and use ED...you're just setting yourself up for failure. read more

Reached out about installing an appliance outlet in my garage - something I've done twice before at previous residences. Both times, the local electricians were able to get the job done for less than $350. Electric Doctor sent out a guy for the initial estimate. He quoted me $1200. I told him that's insane, I will not be paying that, that it's 4x as much as anyone else has quoted me in the past. He made some phone calls and was able to cut the price in half ($610), which was still high, but I went ahead and agreed to the job. I made the mistake of paying in full, in cash, immediately after. In the meantime, an electrician I called a few weeks earlier (from a different company) texted me and showed up and installed the outlet. I made the mistake of thinking this was Electric Doctor and allowed him to complete the installation, only realizing my mistake once he asked me to pay him. I paid him the full amount (only $307!) and immediately called Electric Doctor to explain the situation and cancel my appointment. I was told that someone would reach out to me. Days and days went by, no one called. I called Electric Doctor multiple times in the following weeks and asked for the manager, who seemed to always be out/unavailable and was assured that they would call me back. Finally once I got a hold of them, a month later, I was told that only $255 would be refunded due to parts being ordered and paid for. I said that's fine, but that I would like to take possession of the parts if I paid for them (the cost of the outlet and the cover are around $65 at the local hardware store). I was told this was not possible and that I would have to eat the cost. Lesson learned - one electrician was able to install what I needed for less than the cancellation fee of Electric Doctor's appointment. Buyer beware. read more

Beware!!! I contacted electric Doctor for a issue I was having do to a power surge. It was obvious from the beginning what the problem was and I did relay all information to the secretary who scheduled the technician to come out. Before getting off the phone the secretary said and I quote " I want you to understand how we operate, we send a fully trained professional who will have a fully equipped truck to diagnose and fix any issue you may have.This will cost a flat rate of $80. The tech will from there tell you how much the repair with labor will cost." With that information I scheduled for the tech to come out. Once he started working I told him again everything that had happened which again was obvious I had a power surge. After two hours of his emailing and calling to confirm my issue and hopefully trying to locate a part he tells me he has another appointment to go to and that I would hear back from him within a couple of days. Then before he leaves tells me I need to pay him now $290 and that the job he did validated his charges. I was in complete shock and unfortunatley I paid the bill thinking there was a error on his end that I would correct with his office. I called the secretary to inform her of the situation and that I couldn't understand how I could be told I would only be charged $80 for a diagnostic and service quote. She seemed caught of gaurd as well and let me know she would talk with the tech and get back with me right away. As time went on the tech actually was the one who called me back and became confrontational telling me that im complaining and that since he looked at the breaker box he has to charge me additionally even though he did not tell me prior. I was in shock by the lack of transparancy and professionalism. I was told in two days I would here back about the parts and labor needed to fix my problem and here one week later to the day I have no answers, nothing has been fixed, no quote on parts or labor. That being said I started calling the office to speak to the manager. She also lacked any kind of sympathy and it became obvious that customer service and the ability to be transparant is not a value to her or her team at the electric doctor instead they have other values like making sure they take the customer for all they possibly can. If I could give a "zero" I would. They have terrible follow up and sloppy work. Half of their "electricians" do shoddy work. We had a generator installed which has been the pleasant part of the work they have done. We also had them install a new panel. That is where the issues began. Work not completed, they left a mess, constant follow up to get things done. The owner claimed we were a difficult customer. We aren't the difficult ones, they are!! After several months we finally thought everything was done properly and paid in full. Now the breaker in the garage is tripping every other day. They can't figure it out. We were told to let them know when it tripped again and they would come out....................they didn't show up. Received a call from the office saying they were too busy for the next week to come out. How about you put someone else on hold and take care of a job that is months old?!?! RUN!!!!! read more

We were very displeased with Electric Doctor. They had no follow through. Papers signed 9/2023 and as Jan 2024 we had no generator working. They kept asking for more money. There was smoke everywhere. Electric Doctor came to the house, misdiagnosed the problem, failed to find the real problem, and then charged me $350.00. The smoke returned. Turns out it was the furnace, and the clue was obvious: it was too hot to touch. A safety feature had been overridden by a former owner. At that point parts of the furnace had melted. I was basically charged $350.00 to ignore a fire hazard and destroy my furnace. read more

Electric doctor is a very poorly run business. The owner is not a man of his word. He will agree to a job and not fulfill the prerequisites of the job. Then he will not return the phone call to you if you have any questions. I drove to his office and found the front door not accessible to a wheelchair. NEVER USE THEM AGAIN! We used them to get some work done on our house we were selling per inspection. We gave them the inspection sheet of what needed to be done. They "did" it, but when the owners did the walk thru they discovered they DID NOT do what they had said. Now they are giving us the run around about doing it, so much for 100% satisfaction guaranteed! SO NOT HAPPY WITH THEM! They said they would contact the realtor to get it set up since it was closed but the realtor never heard from them. We keep calling and they keep giving us a run around. UPDATE NOW they say WE didn't give them the list of things to be done. Which since we know nothing about electrical work how else would they know what to do per inspection. We had a branch cut by a neighbor's hired staff fall on our power line that pulled the mast and weatherhead from the side of our house. This killed our power immediately. We called Electric Doctor who sent out an electrician who fixed our issues quickly. It was reasonably priced. We had power restored within hours. I highly recommend them. read more

Early this year, we contracted with the Electric Doctor to purchase a new generator for our home. They said that they could not install the generator until July 2021 due to high demand. We understood this and the rep said that they would be in contact with us in May to schedule. May, June and July and most of August went by went by with no contact from the Electric Doctor. I called them and told them that I wanted to cancel due to lack of customer service. The person who I spoke with stated that they did not have enough employees to assist customers. She then proceeded to say that the Electric Doctor could only give us $2000 back as they were keeping $500 because of they did with our city for zoning, etc. I called the city and no one contacted them about a generator installation for our home. It was a crock for sure. DO NOT trust these people. We are out $500. read more

Sooo..... my BF called and scheduled an estimate for electrical work, the workman arrived (late). After what seemed like a pretty standard walk -through review he submitted an estimate that was TWICE as high as the 2 OTHER estimates we recieved from other local companies and then told my BF the CHARGE for the ESTIMATE was $49.95. Begrudgingly, my BF paid via his debt card. A day later as my BF was checking his debt card balance ELECTRIC DOCTOR CHARGED HIS DEBIT CARD $549.95!!! We IMMEDIATELY called them to demand a refund they at first tried to say they couldn't or that we had signed up for their "Electric Club" (we did not) We were promised a refund in 7 days. Long story short 2 more phone calls and any additional week later we recieved a refund of $500 minus the $49.95 for the wildly overpriced estimate. Not feeling the company AT ALL. read more

I must say Electric Doctor exceeded my expectations again today when they came to service my Generac generator which is now 3 years old. They checked everything over and changed the oil and filter which is guaranteeing me more problem free usage. They were on time, very professional, and answered all my questions. We are so happy we chose Electric Doctor to install our generator 3 years ago and have had 3 years of no stress worrying about lack of power. For the quality of work they do and for the peace of mind I have since they installed my generator and have done my yearly maintenance I know I can continue to have a stress free life knowing I will always have power and not have to worry like many that do not have a generator. You people are absolute scam artists! We had your people come out and splice a line for us. NO ONE told us it was "temporary", or told us what we needed to be planning for to get the line replaced. 2 months later the splice failed and now we have no power to our garage. Now AGAIN they charged us an additional 50.00 to come out just to tell us that the splice was temporary and they will need between 1600 and 2400 to run new wires. 50.00 for something they should have said in the first place or over the phone. They charged us $600.00 to splice the line in the first place! read more
