Well we have been to the one in Secaucus which is now Dublin Yards. So we decided to go to the one by our house in Garfield and have to say unimpressed, actually disgusted. So first thing is you are not in a big city charging $9 for a white claw and every other place around you charges $6. My biggest complaint is when we ordered the gravy and cheese fries we got individual plates and one of them was not clean, I mean food still on it. I will post the picture. It was hard to eat the food after that but we did. The fries were not crispy but soggy and believe they are not homemade fries but frozen ( there is a difference) but gravy was excellent. So, this is my first time ordering from this place. I understand that we are in a pandemic, however, I really have a hard time accepting sub par food at inflated premiums. That screams price gauging to me. I ordered the ribeye from the menu. For starters, it was bland. Zero flavor. Just a taste of char and that just about wraps it up. No salt, no pepper, no garlic, nothing. Thankfully, I had made a garlic butter a few nights prior and had some left which I cooked down to a sauce and was able to perform impromptu surgery to a completely flavorless "steak" that was supposed to be rare, as I ordered it, but when I cut into it, there was nothing rare about it. It was medium going on medium well. As bad as it was and in spite of my best efforts to salvage this sad excuse of a steak, I also needed to add salt. This is a major no-no when you are selling steak at a premium. Burnt char is not what I'm expecting when I'm paying 23 bucks for a steak. I expect more,...... way more. I expect a savory buttery texture full with flavor, a vibrant red color emanating from the steak with a tad of blood dripping into the plate as a proper rare steak should have. The pic below doesn't show that. It's pink, no red, no hot pink, it's pink. That's medium. Also, I'm typically not a rare steak guy. I'm a medium-rare steak guy but in places like this, I lower my expectations and assume the kitchen staff doesn't know what they are doing, so I lower the bar.....waaaaay down, and even with that, they still managed to f*** it up. Secondly, I had also ordered 2 burgers to be cooked medium and received them rare. Who is running the kitchen in this place? Whoever it is clearly doesn't a have a clue about cooking red meat. I also ordered old bay seasoned wings and they were completely over cooked and slightly burned. It was a tough chew, dry, and incredibly difficult to get through, to say the least. The only semi-edible food item that I ordered was the mashed that came with the steak. They were flavorful and quite good. Not enough to get me to order again unfortunately. Extremely disappointed. We ordered Fries as appetizers - 15 minutes later we had to flag a server down to get it from the kitchen. I had the corned beef and cabbage: It was slabs of dry crappy corn beef. My friend had chicken Murphy and hated it. The only highlight was we made friends with the table next to us since they were complaining to us how bad the service was. When it comes to authentic Irish pubs, I know my shit. I've practically grown up in Ireland and definitely know my ways around legit pubs. Blackjack comes pretty damn close! I love the set up they have, high bar tables against the wall, walkway in the middle, and the bar on the other side. I hate going to some bars and the tables are set up so awkwardly. This place is perfect for a night out with a group of friends. My friends and I randomly decided to come here on a Tuesday night. This was my second time coming here. Just so happened it was the pub's anniversary!!!! There was a DJ and free appetizers being passed out by the waitresses. Perfect night to come stumble in!! We sat ourselves in the back, which is kind of like a separate section, but not necessarily segregated from the rest of the bar, which is nice. This room reminds me of a private movie theater, the projector screen is HUGE and very VERY sharp quality. The owner noticed I was mesmerized by the Devil's game on the bar TVs when I walked in, so he put the game on the projector screen for my table! Marc, very nice personable guy. After a short conversation with the owner, next round was on him! EXCELLENT, FEED THE IRISH MORE DRINK! I ordered the corn beef sliders (duh I'm so Irish), which were AMAZING! And with a dash of mustard the sliders became even MORE AMAZING!! They have a happy hour every single day from what I can remember. Tuesday is prime rib night for $12.99! I was craving some nachos, so what better spot then an Irish pub? What a huge mistake this was. From the moment I entered the door, I had a gut feeling I wasn't going to love this place. The tables were very wobbly and so were the chairs. When I asked about the happy hour specials for Sunday, the waitress replied that they didn't have any for that day. Really?? That was a crock of $h!t! Since I have 20/20, yea I had to squeeze that in there, I was able to see a mini standup menu that was on the ledge by the windows. Once I grabbed it and showed it to her, the response was "oh yea that happy hour, its not all that" wow, great response! On to the food, of course got the Irish nachos. Pure garbage, it was horrible!! The ground meat was overly salty, seemed like a few days old, the jalapeños were straight out of a can, cheese was very cheap and didn't have a pleasant taste. So I returned it since it wasn't remotely edible, for a safer option of pretzels with cheese dip. Ever heard of SuperPretzel in the freezer aisle? Well this was exactly it!! There straight out of the box with cheese wiz on the side. I ate them, but I could've gone to the store myself for half the price and a larger portion. Anyhow, the burger was ok, wasn't cooked as requested though but the fries were really good. Cucumbers were odd tasting, almost like they wanted to pickle them but then changed their minds and took them out of the jar after a day before they became pickles. Service was very attentive, but I wouldn't return. My napkin was even dirty that was rolled with my utensils, as if soda spilled on it then air dried. Great bar with good food. Some of the nicest, most attentive servers I've ever encountered. They have craft beer, dart boards and large TV's everywhere. There's a back room with a huge projection screen. They use that for private parties and there was one last night so we couldn't go in there. I thought the food was good for a pub. I really wanted their irish beef stew because someone on here posted a picture of it and it looks good. Unfortunately, that's a special item so they only have it on certain days. That's ok though I got a shepherd's pie instead while my friend got the corned beef wrap. The shepherd's pie was ok; mine is better when I make it (. The mashed potatoes were great but the meat was a little dry and needed more vegetables. I like that they put cheese in it. I've never done that before or had it like that. Maybe I will incorporate it in next time I make a shepherd's pie. The corned beef wrap was excellent. So were the fried pickles. I will be back! read more

I tried their wings, and was able to get one order with two flavors. I tried the daytona which I have never had before at any other place, and the thai spiced one. Both were great but I loved the daytona and it may be my fave wing sauce now. They also had this Samuel Adams cherry wheat which OKAY it's samuel adams, but I was in love.. I have never had this flavor before..and now anytime I go to a bar I see if they have this on tap or bottled! Overall customer service was good, we went to watch a football game on a Sunday night.... It was about 30% full but we sat at the bar and got great service. We will be back to check out weekday specials! read more

The atmosphere is a typical pub setting. The service is friendly. The beer is cold and the food was pretty good! We ordered the Irish Spring Rolls to start. I didn't like them because they were way too greasy, like an egg roll. Inside was mashed potatoes and a little corned beef. We then ordered the roast beef and pulled pork sliders - which were delicious! Very tasty horseradish mayo on the roast beef and the pulled pork was succulent. I will definitely be coming back. When it turned out that what I wanted was not on the menu, he offered to go to the kitchen and ask if I can still order it. And I could, which I thought was pretty nice. Dre our server, was friendly, efficient and and was awesome with recommendations. One of the owners stopped by our table to see how everything was and offered us a shot (if we chose) of homemade apple cider which my family said was delicious. Upon arrival it looks like just your typical little neighborhood bar, but when you walk through the doors you can see they take that extra special touch and give it a twist. After reviewing the menu on our on my companion and I struck up a conversation with our server, she was more than helpful actually took the time to review almost entire menu with us and give her honest opinion. After putting her through all of that we decided just to go with the special of the night one dollar and two dollar sliders, but we begin that off with the Irish Spring rolls and Cajun dusted french fries. First time at Black Mulligans Pub with the family and I'm giving it 5 stars!! I went with my family for New Year's Day because we read the reviews and they were really good. We sat in the bar area and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. For appitizers we ordered the fried pickles and the Irish spring rolls... but were great. For lunch I had the roast beef with au jous on garlic bread it was delicious. It was very large portions and I couldn't finish it all so I took it home. My husband had the shepherds pie and his only complaint was there was no peas or carrots in the meat but he finished his whole plate. My son had the black jack burger that was huge... he loved it but it was so big he couldn't finish it also. My daughter ordered the cheese burger sliders and she ate one but was so full she couldn't eat the other two on her plate. I also had the red sangria which was delicious and pretty strong. We all came home with our extra food to probably eat tonight. Overall a great place great service good for teens because lots of sports on tv.
