First time visit last eve. Owner Dan had a nice set up for our friends group get together. Wine tastings were all very well received! They've been open about 5 months. Loads of wine selections and a nice roomy space to meet up. They're located on Lakeside drive. Still a temporary sign on bldg so a bit hard to find after dark. Look for the lights on! Really cute little place (in the old Weight Watchers building, funny enough), but it doesn't look anything like what it used to be. Very nicely done inside, with a great selection of wine that is manageable enough to be browsed in its entirety before making a decision. The decor is well-done, and the staff is friendly and helpful, I think it's a husband and wife duo who run the place and they were both lovely. We started by sharing a carafe of rose, and also had one of the cheese and charcuterie platters as a snack before dinner. Both were tasty and well-priced. Before we headed out for the evening, we grabbed two of their specially-priced wines to go, and had her give us some recommendations for other wines to take home to enjoy later. She gave us a lot of great tips, particularly for some varietals that we had never tried that were similar to others that we liked. Was pleasantly surprised with Blackrock Wine. Both a wine bar and a wine shop that also serves beer and cider. They also have wine bar type snacks from a chilled cooler of meats and cheeses and serve small plated items of a similar fare. Reminds me very much of Craft in midtown as far as ambience and interesting selections of wines and beer. Smaller overall space and less selection of beer in walk in cooler but very good variety. They have a very nice outdoor patio area and opening garage door style windows when the weather permits. Interior is elegant and clean with plenty of seating. Will certainly return. read more

Had a disturbing rude, unwelcoming, condescending and arrogant experience with the young male bartender (Ethan?) Some context. We came in with a group of 12 friends and parents to celebrate a new-mother's birthday on a Saturday afternoon when the place was almost dead. We all browsed the wine selection, bought a dozen or so bottles, ordered a few food items, and sat ourselves in the corner at one of the large tables. We needed very little help, just to be rung up, everyone was having a good time, laid back, minding our own business. I myself don't drink alcohol so I asked the bartender if they had any non-alcoholic wine and the bartender immediately seemed to have a problem with me, out of no where. He said "Nope but we got sodas.", so I said, no thank you I'll just have water. We all go to our table and proceed to have a nice time. (I found out later that he made several condescending comments to other people at this time, but I was unaware). Fast forward 20 minutes and someone mentioned that in one of the birthday gift bags there was a bottle of the world's cheapest non-alcoholic wine (think grape juice), so the group pulled it out to help me feel welcomed and able to participate. Again, the bartender told me they did not have non-alcoholic options several times, and this is a $7.99 bottle at Total Wine that was buried in the bottom of a gift bag for the birthday girl. The waiter makes a beeline for me, stares me in the eye and says "I'm going to charge you a corkage fee for that bottle.". I thought to myself, wow that's a very rude way to say that, I think that's a very unreasonable thing to do given the circumstances, but I don't want to make a big deal out of it, so I'll pay the $5 or $10 corkage fee. As we are packing up to leave, the waiter -again- makes a beeline for me, stares me down and in a very condescending and rude way says "Come here I need to charge you for your corkage fee". I again think so myself, what could I have possibly done to this person to deserve to be treated in this manor. I don't mind being charged for something I paid for, but he was treating me in a very aggressive manor. He rings up me and says something like "That'll be $43.31 bud, and no need to tip on that one, I know you won't." In a disturbingly pointed way. Shocked, I left feeling utterly horrible, as if I had done something wrong to this person and could not for the life of me understand what it was. After discussing the charge outside with friends and family we thought it must have been a clerical error, so me and one other person went back in to ask. Again, in a disturbingly arrogant way, the waiter said (and I'm near-direct quoting here), "You guys show up with a group of 12 unannounced, we didn't have the kitchen ready, and then you open your own bottle! I need to make money too and that's taking a sale away from me! You can take it up with my sommelier the standard fee is $60 in this town for a corkage fee!". We felt there was no point in arguing with someone as hot headed with this waiter so we left. Apparently this waiter was upset with us that we came into the bar with a group? We spent around $500, AND TIPPED 20%+. Maybe he had a vendetta against me for being alcohol free? I asked him directly if he had NA wine options, when he said no, I said I'll just have water. Then when someone pulls out grape juice from a gift bag he felt the need to charge me $45 without disclosing how high the fee is??? Per corkagefee.com, $45 is the most expensive corkage fee listed in Reno, even higher than one of the most expensive fine dining restaurants in Reno (LuLous). And above everything else, he made the entire group feel horrible on a new-mother's first birthday with wine. Utterly astonishing. read more

We came here to try to get a nice drink and celebrate an extremely important occasion. The person who was walking around kept on telling us to wait; even when we asked for a menu he just kept on helping and serving others. When he finally got back to the counter, he decided to help another customer instead of us even though we were in line first. The customer who was helped even looked apologetic that we still had to wait. Even after that, the guy said "I'll get to you soon I promise." By this time we had waited several minutes already. I felt very, very discriminated against because I was the ONLY non Caucasian people present. Did we return back to the 1950s? Only when we said we were about to go did he get behind the counter and asked us what we wanted. Still no menu, nothing. At that point, I realized even though we were prepared to spend a pretty penny celebrating, we weren't going to be given a thought. This place just lost the business of people who could've come back much more often, and merely because of discrimination. read more

Such a cute spot! The large front outdoor patio seating with overhead twinkle lights is really great and lots of indoor seating. There's a bar that overlooks the outdoor seating through a garage door opening window. I got a flight of red wines that were all really good and the 3 small bites we got were all delicious but the dipping oil with goat cheese and bread was probably my favorite. We also got the pesto cheese was super tasty and the hummus was great as well. The owner checked in on us often and is great to talk to, we learned a bit more about him and it's cool to see the business he's building. Will definitely come back here! read more

It's always nice to fine a new wine bar. This one is a good one. It's being discovered. I've met a few interesting people there. The owners have been in the business for a long time and know what they are doing. The wine selection is decent with a range of prices, types and origins. If you have any questions or are looking for a selection the staff will help out. They sell by the glass and by the bottle. A friend and I tried bottle of Keenan Napa Cabernet that was tasty. They have some tasty food plates too. I usually stay close to home but this place is worth a little drive across town. read more

Best wine bar in town and the best selection of snacks! The choice of wine is better than any i've seen and they have the best atmosphere.

I have enjoyed wine at this local place a few times with friends but after my last visit I won't be back. I accidentally left my debit card after paying my tab and didn't notice for a couple of days. When I reached out they had found it so I checked my account before going and noticed that I had been charged twice. Once without a tip (I left a cash tip) and another time with a 20% tip added. I brought it to the managers attention and she said the additional charge should drop off but if not let her know. When after a few days both charges had posted I went back and was told there was nothing she could do. I was told to take it up with my bank. I was made to feel like I was putting her out by bringing it to her attention which has left a bad taste in my mouth. Other great wine places in our area! Update: Because the charges were for 2 different amounts my bank has informed me that they cannot do anything about it. They advised me to work with the business directly. As that isn't an option either it looks like I paid $100+ for 4 glasses of wine for my friend and myself. read more

We were vising from California and looking for a place to get some wine and were DELIGHTED to find Blackrock Wine Co. I ordered a flight and was pleasantly surprised by delicious each of the wines was. My parents each ordered wine by the glass and were equally impressed. They were also doing a special presentation from a visiting winemaker and we stayed for that. The wine selection is fantastic and the prices are *great* and all of the staff are so friendly. We will for sure be visiting again! read more
