Bloody Maria by Scott- best in town!
    Lindsey F.

Scott is the ultimate mix master! Not only did he make amazing drinks but he also had beer cheese nachos! Scott has developed a book or should I say Bible of different drinks - and it's some pretty cool combos! He's very friendly and operated "Basque style billing" as I call it where he charges you at the end of the night which makes for a relaxed environment not time restrictive! When you come here it's to hang out. I'm somewhat glad this place isn't well known but I have a feeling it will get busy soon!

Here's another spot - do I tell you how cool it is ? Or bury it in reviews and make you discover it for yourself. Well first off you have to know that it is located on the 7th floor of the Plaza Hotel on West Street downtown. Then you have to know the password to get by the front desk to the elevator. The password changes every weekend. Hint- check their Facebook page or I might answer you if you text me for it. Now you have made it upstairs, turn right and right again and stroll into dark wood bar and expect Sammy and Frank talking in the corner while Dean is ordering a round at the bar from Scott. Among all the downtown casino bars, here's that cool quiet spot overlooking all the city lights. You can enjoy your drink inside in the cozy room at the bar or in one of the cozy groupings. Or take it out to the huge rooftop patio to sip and take in the view. Scott has created many old school favorites with his updated twists. The menu is well detailed, but if you still can't find a drink, just ask Scott to concoct one for you. Current hours are Friday and Saturday, opening at 5pm with happy hour. Tell Scott I sent, and you better say hi to me.

Omg let me tell you! This lounge is was great! The bar tender was great! He's name is Sam! They even give you a $2 off for cocktail's when you stay here. Got a Bloody Mary. It was a good spice and all. Can't wait to stay here again

The absolute *coolest* hidden gem here in Reno. We decided to come by for a double date/relaxing Saturday night with a friend, and it far and away exceeded my expectations. My friend Lindsey told me that it was a speakeasy-type situation, so I didn't really do much research before. Upon arrival, the front desk agent stops us and asks, "What's the password?", to which I panicked a bit, because I pride myself on being a pretty prepared person. Lindsey, being a regular, tells them, and we're on our way in. Later that night, I learned that they post their password on their social media. As someone who works in marketing, I thought it was an absolutely brilliant way to gather engagement and organic following on social media platforms. We went up to the seventh floor and found ourselves in this wonderful, quiet space, perfect for relaxation and catching up with old friends. Thirsty's finds a way to combine all the cool, almost secret aspects of a traditional speakeasy while introducing new and welcoming twists. You'll see that everything is pretty well-lit and modern in the bar area while also seeing clever touches, such as winged armchairs, a suit in a case, and intricate detailing that gives a subtle nod to the Prohibition Era when speakeasies came to fruition. Scott, the mixologist and beverage manager, was our host for the evening, and made all of us feel super welcome! I was a little intimidated at first because I went with a pretty traditional drink (I got a Moscow Mule), but he did an absolute phenomenal job of making sure that everyone felt included and welcomed. At a lot of bars, the ambience and how the night goes can impact your overall time, but if you have a great bartender such as Scott that has a great savoir faire with connecting with customers, it truly elevates the experience. We had planned to only stay for an hour or so, but before we knew it, time flew and we had already spent 3 hours just sitting and chatting. I am absolutely blown away with how cool this find was, and I would 100% come back and introduce more friends to this space.

Downtown Reno's speakeasy. A speakeasy is a saloon or nightclub selling alcoholic beverages illegally, especially during Prohibition. Prohibition is long over but the vibe lives on. Here's how it works.... 1st they're only open Friday & Saturday night but sometimes they have special nights....I heard a rumor there might be a Bloody Mary Sunday Coming up. 2nd you need the password. Follow Thristy's on Facebook. Passwords are usually posted on Thursday. 3rd you need to find the joint. Go to the Plaza Hotel. Tell the front desk the password. Take the elevator to the 7th floor. Now here's the good part.... Belly up to the and have Scott make you a drink. There's a great menu or you can ask for BIG BOOK of cocktails or just tell him what you like and he'll make you something. It's always a good time. The vibe is somewhere between the Rat Pack and a lobby bar. There's a mix bag of regulars and travelers.

This place is amazing! Scott the bartender is super cool! He has some pretty cool stories and a great person to talk to. His cocktails are amazing. And overall the vibe is amazing. Definitely will come back to this place!

It was low enough key for us yet still fun, it was packed and we first sat on a corner edge by the fire the only seats open and it was overwhelmingly HOT by the fire even though the ambiance is lovely. We got super lucky when a couple of ladies left before the countdown so we moved to a table. It was still decorated like Christmas inside and it was super cute. We all LOVED our drinks mine was like a boozy (honestly was there even booze in it lol) milkshake and I tried my friends, one was a special holiday drink "sugar plum fairy" which was sweeter and yummy and other friend got a baileys based martini also very yummy. I can't remember exact names but see pics haha. Really made me wanna come back for that milkshake drink sooner than the once a year or every two years I prob make it in here. For the Older crowd.

We arrived around 5:30 PM on a Saturday. The joint was nearly empty aside from a couple at the bar. Plenty of seating for our large group in the large, comfy couches. They also have cool built-in seating around the perimeter of the bar, though not nearly as comfortable as the vintage furniture. The menu is sorted by glass type. A fun and unique way to sort cocktails. They also have a selection of beer on draft and wine. The drinks can also be made into mocktails- a win for our group since we had a few non-drinkers. The 1859 mocktail was great. Perfectly sweet with a small hit of miso flavor from the miso honey. Probably even better and more balanced with the whiskey! Others in my group enjoyed working their way through the many light, dark, and sour beers on tap. 1864 offers a classic, relaxed atmosphere and a great place to get a cocktail. The prices are reasonable, too. Definitely worth the visit.

What a major local gem in Reno. It only took one visit for…read moreme to become a fan of this coffee shop/bar in Midtown. You can tell that a lot of thought and heart went into the place. The decor, the entertainment, the products all struck a chord with me. On one side - a super cute pour over/loose leaf tea shop with some records for sale. On the other - a cute bar and lounge area equipped with a vinyl player (Bring one in on a Monday for them to play). You have some house pants, checkered floors, and cool vinyl covers all over the walls that make for some great & hip atmosphere and vibes. Their restrooms, though small, and clean and cool. Their pour overs are so flavorful, strong, and made with beans grounded on your visit. I love that they're flavored and sweetened in a way that allows the coffee to shine. If you're into sweeter drinks, ask for a bit more sweetner or add in a brown raw sugar packet yourself from the straw station. I hear their chocolate pour over is a hit. Matchas - prepared in a similar fashion. Slightly sweetned with subtle flavorings. I tried their carrot cake matcha today and really enjoyed the housemade syrup they used to flavor it with. I also love that they offer loose leaf teas. Their chai was nice, fragrant and great with a little sweetner and milk. Shelby over at the bar area was sooo patient with explaining their menu and suggested a isla bonita pineapple shrub drink for a non alcoholic option. Similar to their other drinks on the coffee side, it was tamed in sugar yet still fun and flavorful. I really enjoyed the tang from the apple cider and the spice from the tajin chili powder as a contrasting flavor. Double check their website for bar and coffee shop hours as they differ from one another. And follow them on Instagram for updates on seasonal specials & themed gatherings. A lot of cool local DJs spin here for special events and parties during the holidays. Tip: sit next to the pour over station next to the menu. It's so entertaining, especially with Sydney working the station (thanks so much for the chat and entertainment. Honestly one of the friendliest baristas I've ever met in Reno). Both bars are set up in a way that allows for meeting others and socializing. Check it out. It's a good time. Notes *Catch live jazz music on Wednesdays here for free. *free street & neighborhood parking *bagels & cream cheese available at the coffee shop *they have fun with their seasonal drink specials. I dig it.

An interesting combination of coffee shop, bar, and vinyl lounge, EP is located on Wells Avenue. Took a break from checking out other neighborhood shops to sit and enjoy an afternoon cocktail with friends. Plenty of various comfy seating areas and about six spots at the bar. I tried the Float On, a boozy adult root beer float using local gelato from Bibo. It's a coffee shop, so my friend sipped the 9 to 5, their version of an espresso martini. The Soul Sipper, a beautiful orange colored cocktail was similar to an Aperol Spritzer. Located on the corner of Wells and Vassar, there's a little more street parking available.

My rant..I'm not from the area so I had NO idea what this place was when I walked by. It looked cute so my husband, myself and child walked up the steps and they sat outside while I went to check it out and see if this was a bar/club/ restaurant. I walked inside and instantly got the death glare from an employee. I instantly said omg I take it this place isn't kid friendly.. he rudely said no. I wanted to clarify and confirm even outside ? Usually I don't give bad costumer service a chance.. but I realllllllly wanted a drink that one of those others customers were drinking. If this place had better costumer service. It would be a 5
