Lexi did an amazing job relaying the history of the boat, describing each wine we tasted and offered a plentiful amount of entertaining stories during our tour. Everyone brings their own Charcuterie or snacks, but are treated to an amazing assortment of wine as you slowly motor out to Emerald Bay and Vikingsholm. The boat, the Golden Rose, is a historic and restored 1953 Chris Craft Venetian Water Taxi. There's a larger story behind this boat, but better left to Lexi to tell you. Very enjoyable time and I would not hesitate to bring more friends back! The wine tasting list regularly changes. We also upgraded our experience from smores & fireplace outdoors, to a YURT! Best decision ever & it was our BEST winery experience ever! It was just perfect & magical! The yurt had 2 heaters, but we quickly turned one off. It wAs equipped with blankets & pillows! It was so cozy feeling. Our table was so nicely decorated, like out of a magazine! The experience came with a charcuterie board and 5 wine tastings. Everything was so good! Not a fan of White wine, but it's something about high elevation wineries...makes white taste yummy! I had had the opportunity to try three of their wines at a Yelp event earlier in the year, so I was thrilled to try their entire expanse of wines. We were fortunate enough to meet Jenna, their sommelier, and Joe, the co-founder, while we were there and got an extensive education in their unique wines made from grapes that can are designed to grow at high elevations with rough environments. The hybrid grapes make for distinctive flavors that are delightful to sip on. I loved the La Crosse (white) and the St. Croix (red). For those not into beer (like me), this is a great wine lovers oasis in the Reno Brewery District, and the opportunity to experience something uniquely RenoTahoe. The space isn't huge, so the events are limited to 30 people. Just right to get star treatment from everyone. No pretentious wine snobs or chefs, everyone discussing the highlights of the food and wine. Besides the dinners, Archive has also been hosting blind tastings and other fun wine discovery night. Street parking is limited. There is a parking ramp just around the corner that is easy to use.
