More crud - maybe rice?

Food was mediocre (ribs were dry and served with lukewarm soggy french fries - I expect a lot better at this price point), but the bigger issue was the restaurant was dirty. I'm hoping the grains in the wide crevices of this table were old rice and food particles and not droppings, but especially if you have small kids do not let them sit you at this big round table upstairs (see pictures). The crevices are plenty wide enough for little fingers to play with the crud. The salads got good reviews from my dinner companions, but the ribs and meatloaf were both subpar.

Seems like a hip joint. Service was friendly. We came for the Asian menu, but they only do that on Wed. The regular menu was no disappointment. I had a burger and my wife had a shiro pasta dish. We started with tuna poke. Nothing was 'traditional' but it was all great.

Overall (A+) This place is awesome. I will be dining here every-time I visit Gunnison/CB. If you have not dined here- get here immediately. Honestly I will have lunch and dinner here. It's one of those places that you want to try everything on the menu. I think I will have to move out here since they rotate the menu. If they open for lunch and breakfast I would be there 3 times a day. Food (A+) Look I have been to Gunnison and CB a number of times and was not expecting this. Overall I feel like the Yelp ratings in CO are skewed a bit high. But not this place - it exceed my expectations and deserves a super high Yelp ranking (5) in my book. So I got two appetizers since I wasn't super hungry and I wanted to try different items. Started off with the Lox Crostini - Seared Scallops Crispy Beet Chip, Sweet Corn Cream, Bacon Shallot Red Wine Vinegar Chives Awesome. Great flavor combination. Second was the Seared Scallops Crispy Beet Chip, Sweet Corn Cream, Bacon Shallot and Almonds, Red Wine Vinegar Chives This is actually a genius combination of flavors. Service (A+) The staff is extremely well trained. They are friendly with all customers, provide great recommendations and the foot comes out fairly fast but is not rushed. This is a highly efficient and effective team. Well done. The waiter politely asked me for drinks (which I don't drink) and knew I was healthy so didn't push dessert on me - since I would not have gotten one. Value (A+) It was around $30 out the door for me with 2 appetizers. Worth every penny. This is a kind of place that you don't mind spending money at.its the reason why we make money. To spend at places like this. If this place was in Chicago there would be a wait for months to get reservations. Look if you know me, dine here and don't think it is awesome - I will pay for your meal. It's that awesome. Go you will not disappointed and expectations will be exceeded.

French Onion Soup Sandwich

One of my friends recommended Blackstock Bistro to me while we were strolling through Gunnison, and I am glad he did. A quaint little restaurant on the main strip in the town, Blackstock has a surprisingly sophisticated menu that meets the criteria of a quality gastropub. They have the classics, but also are willing to serve a $200 tomahawk steak. Quite the contrast! I went with something I had never heard before: a French Onion Soup sandwich. This thing was the bomb. Straight out of the soup onto the meat of the bun. This one stood out to me the most on the menu and it did not disappoint. I'm not sure how other restaurants in the area are, but I would believe Blackstock has to be one of the best. Definitely a great meal and one I would suggest anyone to have should they come across it.

Ordered the tuna poke for an appetizer and it was very good. The tuna was fresh (no idea how that happened this far inland) and the combination of guacamole and tuna was something I wouldn't have thought of but was very good. The drinks were not watered down and I recommend the Pendleton Old fashioned. Prices are very responsible and the ambiance is great. Very friendly staff. For dinner we ordered the Hackbraten and the Seared Beef and goat cheese crostini with French onion soup. The entrees had generous portions and d were flavorful. The hackbraten was a bit over done but the French onion soup and crostini were delicious. The service was very attentive. All in all a very pleasant dining experience. You should try this place if you get the chance.

I made reservations for 2 on Friday night. The place was packed when we got there but we were still seated almost right away. Our waiter was very good and he checked on us frequently to make sure we were good. I had the tomato bisque which was good. We also share the poke bowl but the poke didn't taste fresh. My main meal was the salmon and that was tasty. The couscous was a little sticky and thick but still added good complementary flavor to the salmon. Finally we had the chocolate tort cake for dessert which was tasty but the cherries with the syrup tasted like cough syrup. Prices weren't bad.

Fantastic folks food and cocktails! Would love to know the history of the place. They done a great job of keeping it with the history.

Great food and atmosphere. Good for small groups or a few larger groups. Nice menue with small plates or large plates. The appetizers are actually very large. I loved the sticky Dumplings and could of have 2. I also I had the chicken and rice appetizer was more than filling. The drinks are really expensive though and was surprised I was charged for a pour.

The corn dogs were slightly burnt (in our opinion) but the flavor was very good, we would order again. However I think the chips are a miss....just serve them without them and charge a little less in my opinion, they aren't needed. We liked both sauces. The potatoes we originally ordered with the fried egg but the server forgot (she was very apologetic) and got one out to us after a few mins. The egg honestly did nothing to the dish. We wish the potatoes were crispier for sure but the garlic aoli was good. However, we prob wouldn't order it again. The masa cakes were good, I would order again but nothing mind blowing. Overall it was just ok. I think what kind of set our decision to probably not return is the fact that a table near us had asked the server something (we aren't exactly sure what) and she took their dish back and then proceeded to talk crap about them in the server/kitchen area. My husband said the table didn't hear her but I don't know how they didn't as she was talking very loudly about how "my tables are so annoying today! The things people ask for are crazy" (etc) and it made me really uncomfortable. I used to be a server and can understand frustrations with customers but it was unprofessional to talk crap about them when other customers can hear.

Well Kate took care of us and it was clear she has thought through the menu. We enjoyed the marinated goat cheese and the zucchini blossom cakes as well as the unique take on chili relleno (with nasturtium!) before diving into the grilled octopus that rivaled the same dish we've had many times in in Portugal. Impeccable service and a creative cocktail menu rounded out the evening. Highly recommend!

We stopped in, the place was packed, the ambience was great, and the food was just wonderful. My wife is an extremely picky eater. For parking you can either park next-door at a closedown store or try and find street parking for Tuesday with the World Cup being on it was a little busy and the weather was so they had the sliding doors open and you could either choose to sit inside or outside on the patio. Since it was a nice light breezy 90° day most people chose to sit outside, so all the patio tables were taken. We were told we could sit anywhere and they brought us a menu as soon as we seated. Are we just walked away and brought us back two glasses and a big craft of water. She gave us a few minutes to look over the menu which I do appreciate. But when she came back, asked if we had any questions I asked her how big the kids tiny burger was she said it's like the size of a slider and it came with nothing on it, but you could add whatever you wanted. I ended up going with the tiny burger off of the kids menu adding mayonnaise, lettuce, onion, and the bacon marmalade. My coworker ordered the same and a shredding tots. Food came out in a respectable amount of time. It was hot and fresh. You can see right into the kitchen as it is an old food trailer that they have set up as the cooking area, which was really cool. The waitress was bringing out food for other patrons. We noticed the size of the burgers and we were glad that we got the tiny ones. first bite of the burger was absolutely fabulous. It was juicy just enough pink and the flavors with the bacon marmalade out of this world. I did try one of my coworkers shredding. They were fabulous also with just a hint of blue cheese mixed in with the potato. Definitely a must try and will be going back the next time. I am in town.

We took two seats at the bar and were lucky enough to have Tina helping us, she was so friendly and knowledgeable, really a gem. We started with the fiery passion and the rum sour and were impressed by the complexity of flavors in both, the fiery passion was a real winner, with a taste of passionfruit, and the habanero pineapple in the rum really coming through, but not in a overly sweet way, just enough. The chili sugar rim was a unique way to really set it over the top. The rum sour was also delicious, the Demerara, giving it almost a hint of an old-fashioned, but keeping it light and foamy throughout. Such an incredible set of cocktails. I also had the tomato bisque soup, it was so yummy and cheesy, and the staff were nice enough to bring out some local made bread toasted on the side. Then, Tina made us her own special cocktail, a take on a strawberry spicy rum, with an egg white to give it a delicious foamy texture. All the drinks are delicious, and Tina noted that they were the strongest cocktails in the area, with 2 1/2 shots per drink. We were definitely feeling fun and talkative as we were leaving. This place was so upbeat, with games to choose from, but still keeping a refined mountain vibe. We tried to go back again the next day, but had finished earlier and the bar didn't open yet! Bummer. We don't find our way to crested Butte often but next time we are there, it will surely be a stop.

I gave an additional star because the folks from the adventure park crushing PBR's in the back were an absolute gem (no joke), and were really sweet with my kids. I get it, you work in a tourist town and it is super vogue to act like you hate tourists and couldn't be bothered. Maybe don't go into the service industry in a tourist town if you can't stand people.
