While this restaurant may seem very unassuming from the outside, I promise, when you step inside, you won't be disappointed. One of my favorite features is Ramen Wednesdays. More recently, we sat at the bar last week to enjoy both happy hour, and the ramen menu. The bartender was great, and checked in with us regularly. We started with a small plate of the bistro fries - which comes covered in Truffle Oil, Herbs de Provence, and Parmesan Cheese - they're super good, and would say better than a certain CB restaurant's crack fries. The small order was plenty for the three of us to share. For drinks, we started with wine, beer, and I had a mojito. The mojito wasn't my favorite - for some reason, it was really sweet. Second drink was a glass of Sauvignon blanc, which went well with the ramen. On to the ramen - I went with the Boo-Tan-E-Koo Pork broth, traditional wavy noodles, pork belly, poached egg, tempura, green onion, buttered sweet corn, chile thread, fresh ginger, sesame seeds. It was delicious, flavorful, and I couldn't get through the whole bowl (I took about half of it home). That was my first time taking ramen home, and would note it heated up nicely for lunch the next day. We will absolutely be back to try more of the menu!

Stopped here for dinner on our way to Lake City. We usually go to High Alpine brewing but wanted to try a new place! I'm glad we stopped. I got the Hackbraten which was way more elaborate and pretty than I thought it would be. I was expecting a hunk of meatloaf (which I was really craving), but it was a much more refined dish. The goat cheese in the mashed potatoes was a unique touch I hadn't had before. The sauce was really tasty but the meat itself was quite dry. My husband had the French Onion Sandwich and it was tasty, but quite small. The french fries were delicious! Would stop here again for a nicer meal. Seems like they also have Wednesday night ramen which is super fun?!

    More crud - maybe rice?

Food was mediocre (ribs were dry and served with lukewarm soggy french fries - I expect a lot better at this price point), but the bigger issue was the restaurant was dirty. I'm hoping the grains in the wide crevices of this table were old rice and food particles and not droppings, but especially if you have small kids do not let them sit you at this big round table upstairs (see pictures). The crevices are plenty wide enough for little fingers to play with the crud. The salads got good reviews from my dinner companions, but the ribs and meatloaf were both subpar.

Seems like a hip joint. Service was friendly. We came for the Asian menu, but they only do that on Wed. The regular menu was no disappointment. I had a burger and my wife had a shiro pasta dish. We started with tuna poke. Nothing was 'traditional' but it was all great.

Overall (A+) This place is awesome. I will be dining here every-time I visit Gunnison/CB. If you have not dined here- get here immediately. Honestly I will have lunch and dinner here. It's one of those places that you want to try everything on the menu. I think I will have to move out here since they rotate the menu. If they open for lunch and breakfast I would be there 3 times a day. Food (A+) Look I have been to Gunnison and CB a number of times and was not expecting this. Overall I feel like the Yelp ratings in CO are skewed a bit high. But not this place - it exceed my expectations and deserves a super high Yelp ranking (5) in my book. So I got two appetizers since I wasn't super hungry and I wanted to try different items. Started off with the Lox Crostini - Seared Scallops Crispy Beet Chip, Sweet Corn Cream, Bacon Shallot Red Wine Vinegar Chives Awesome. Great flavor combination. Second was the Seared Scallops Crispy Beet Chip, Sweet Corn Cream, Bacon Shallot and Almonds, Red Wine Vinegar Chives This is actually a genius combination of flavors. Service (A+) The staff is extremely well trained. They are friendly with all customers, provide great recommendations and the foot comes out fairly fast but is not rushed. This is a highly efficient and effective team. Well done. The waiter politely asked me for drinks (which I don't drink) and knew I was healthy so didn't push dessert on me - since I would not have gotten one. Value (A+) It was around $30 out the door for me with 2 appetizers. Worth every penny. This is a kind of place that you don't mind spending money at.its the reason why we make money. To spend at places like this. If this place was in Chicago there would be a wait for months to get reservations. Look if you know me, dine here and don't think it is awesome - I will pay for your meal. It's that awesome. Go you will not disappointed and expectations will be exceeded.

One of my friends recommended Blackstock Bistro to me while we were strolling through Gunnison, and I am glad he did. A quaint little restaurant on the main strip in the town, Blackstock has a surprisingly sophisticated menu that meets the criteria of a quality gastropub. They have the classics, but also are willing to serve a $200 tomahawk steak. Quite the contrast! I went with something I had never heard before: a French Onion Soup sandwich. This thing was the bomb. Straight out of the soup onto the meat of the bun. This one stood out to me the most on the menu and it did not disappoint. I'm not sure how other restaurants in the area are, but I would believe Blackstock has to be one of the best. Definitely a great meal and one I would suggest anyone to have should they come across it.

Ordered the tuna poke for an appetizer and it was very good. The tuna was fresh (no idea how that happened this far inland) and the combination of guacamole and tuna was something I wouldn't have thought of but was very good. The drinks were not watered down and I recommend the Pendleton Old fashioned. Prices are very responsible and the ambiance is great. Very friendly staff. For dinner we ordered the Hackbraten and the Seared Beef and goat cheese crostini with French onion soup. The entrees had generous portions and d were flavorful. The hackbraten was a bit over done but the French onion soup and crostini were delicious. The service was very attentive. All in all a very pleasant dining experience. You should try this place if you get the chance.

I made reservations for 2 on Friday night. The place was packed when we got there but we were still seated almost right away. Our waiter was very good and he checked on us frequently to make sure we were good. I had the tomato bisque which was good. We also share the poke bowl but the poke didn't taste fresh. My main meal was the salmon and that was tasty. The couscous was a little sticky and thick but still added good complementary flavor to the salmon. Finally we had the chocolate tort cake for dessert which was tasty but the cherries with the syrup tasted like cough syrup. Prices weren't bad.

Fantastic folks food and cocktails! Would love to know the history of the place. They done a great job of keeping it with the history.

Great food and atmosphere. Good for small groups or a few larger groups. Nice menue with small plates or large plates. The appetizers are actually very large. I loved the sticky Dumplings and could of have 2. I also I had the chicken and rice appetizer was more than filling. The drinks are really expensive though and was surprised I was charged for a pour.

The corn dogs were slightly burnt (in our opinion) but the flavor was very good, we would order again. However I think the chips are a miss....just serve them without them and charge a little less in my opinion, they aren't needed. We liked both sauces. The potatoes we originally ordered with the fried egg but the server forgot (she was very apologetic) and got one out to us after a few mins. The egg honestly did nothing to the dish. We wish the potatoes were crispier for sure but the garlic aoli was good. However, we prob wouldn't order it again. The masa cakes were good, I would order again but nothing mind blowing. Overall it was just ok. I think what kind of set our decision to probably not return is the fact that a table near us had asked the server something (we aren't exactly sure what) and she took their dish back and then proceeded to talk crap about them in the server/kitchen area. My husband said the table didn't hear her but I don't know how they didn't as she was talking very loudly about how "my tables are so annoying today! The things people ask for are crazy" (etc) and it made me really uncomfortable. I used to be a server and can understand frustrations with customers but it was unprofessional to talk crap about them when other customers can hear.

Impeccable service and a creative cocktail menu rounded out the evening. Highly recommend!

We stopped by on Saturday around 6 PM and the manager was so kind to help us put a larger table together. We only waited about 10 minutes. Our server was so sweet. I don't remember her name, but she was extremely knowledgeable about all the cocktails -- and there are many. It's one thing to memorize the ingredients, but quite another to understand flavor, profiles, textures, substitutions, etc. she really knows her stuff and was great at making recommendations. We tried a number of different cocktails, including the Headhunter, Xanadu, London press, lemon ginger NA, and poco loco. Personally, I had the headhunter and Poco Loco. The headhunter was yummy, but not special enough to order again. The Poco Loco, however, was unique and delicious with the habanero infusion so present and the foamy top giving it a melt in your mouth texture. It's pretty warm in there as they have no AC and no fans to circulate the air and it is still summer, plus drinking makes you hotter, so we were a little sweaty, but This is of course, a very temporary feeling as the area does not stay this hot for long. The Dogwood is a cocktail cabin that is located in the heart of downtown Crested Butte. They keep the lights dimmed and have a fun music playlist that creates a nice relaxed atmosphere. The floor creaks as you walk through the cabin and they have cool chandeliers. We were initially told it would be a long wait, but somehow they found a table rather quickly for us. It was cold out, so we appreciated it. The Dogwood has a nice variety of artisanal cocktails on their menu. Our server was very helpful with giving us some options. I didn't have my readers on me and had a hard time reading the menu. So her describing some of the cocktails to me was very helpful. Dogwood has a number of classic drinks, margaritas and martinis. Some of the fun names that I saw were Thor's Hammer, D Cup, Porch Song, Mr. Pink and Beetnik. I ordered the Headhunter and enjoyed my drink. For food, Dogwood has charcuterie-style bites and other light snacks. This was a great find and a nice way to cap off our fun trip to Crested Butte.

The gazpacho was top notch, fresh and had bright color and flavor. My wife's filet was cooked perfectly with great texture on outside and tender on the inside. I ordered the Colorado lamb sirloin. It was hard to cut through...was it the slightly tough texture or the non-serrated knife (asked for serrated, restaurant did not have)? I think a little of both. I ordered the chimichurrie to go with the lamb. It came in a cute white ceramic vessel shaped a little like an hourglass with an narrow waist and flared bottom and top. At the top, you could see bright green liquid oil without any of the obvious other chunky ingredients of chimichurri. Ahh, you might think that the next step would be to stir it with a small spoon (often paired with the traditional small ramekin of chimichurri)... alas, no small utensils, just our dinnerware. Not only that, but I generously thought that this fine establishment fully intended to present this as their new twist on chimichurri. Not wanting to complain, I sheepishly drizzled the green oil onto my lamb and made the best of it. Only on my last bites of lamb did I discover belatedly that the dressing had separated and discovered the bright greens and garlic layered densely at the bottom. Two take home messages.
