The (cooked) food is reasonable for the price, but do not order the tuna; looks and tastes like it's been sitting in a fridge for a week or two. The salsa that comes with the chips is actually pretty good. The staff seem to only be enthusiastic about their jobs when it's aprés time and they can earn quick tips for pouring quick drinks. I've been here across two seasons, numerous nights, numerous bartenders, and they all seem to universally dislike their jobs, or simply doing work. Almost every time I have to ask for a napkin and silverware after the food has come. I usually have to flag someone down for service. I usually have to ask for a glass of water to be refilled. It's just an endless drag trying to dine here. If it weren't the only ski-in/out hotel on the mountain, I'd go elsewhere, but hey, captive audience means you can succeed even when mediocre. read more

Came in for breakfast with a big group and were able to get a table. Staff was kind and helpful. They did not have any espresso during our visit but their drip coffee was still very good. Our group ordered Huevos Rancheros, Chilaquiles and Pancakes. All were extremely delicious. Must have been a bad day for staff and management today. Wtf... it's our first time here and I expected somewhat normal service for a busy ski resort. But what the heck!! Plastic in our food, sat next to a trash can at a small table for a party of two for dining in. When we asked to speak to management we were told he was busy and that he would comp our nachos. Possibly the worst Mexican food I have ever had. Ordered the Al pastor tacos and they must have dumped the entire bottle of chili powder in the mix. Tasted like sloppy Joe, man which, or Wolf Brand chili tacos...hex like anything except Al pastor. I know better than to eat Mexican outside of Texas or Mexico, but this was bad. We went there twice on a recent stay in CB. The first night-- the service was sooo slow in getting started with just a water and a menu. And it took forever then for the server to return to take the order. After that things moved along quickly. I had the beef birria tacos. They were delicious although small but really yummy. We returned for breakfast the next morning. By spouse had scrambled eggs with toast, I had the granola fruit yogurt parfait. The eggs arrived and he was finished eating by the time parfait arrived!? Go figure. He had to leave so the server brought me the bill in the form of the digital credit card device-- I charged it to our room. Only later did my husband get the C full receipt in email and we discovered we were overcharged by $10.00 for a fruit cup we neither ordered or received. Really great patio on the mountain! We visited on the third of July and most of the restaurants in the area were closed. The bartender and server were fantastic! We both ordered the shrimp tacos and really enjoyed our meals. The drinks were tasty but expensive as is typical in the mountains. The service was great until the end when we tried to get our check but otherwise it was great! The patio is awesome for hanging near the mountain and they had a great fire pit for warmth and marshmallow roasting. read more

We went to a late dinner with boo's parents. We sat outside, and appreciated they turned on some space heaters after the sun set. The service was great. I got the peach mango jicama salad with chicken, and boo got steak tacos. We split a queso, which was more viscous than what's usually served at Mexican restaurants. It wasn't bad, but there are long strings of onions in it that would be better if they were cut up more. My salad was good, but they were a little too heavy on the dressing. The top shelf margaritas were good. Their turbo salt they use to rim seems to have some sugar in it since it's somewhat sweet. Overall, good dinner! read more

Awesome atmosphere! Avoid the crowds on elk street during the holidays and sit outside with a beautiful view slope side. Live DJ and fire entertainment. Fire pit and lots of outdoor seating with heaters or indoor seating too. Chips salsa and elote are fantastic. Service was superb. Trout was a treat! Our second visit here took my rating from 5 stars to 1. I think the manager was missing on night 2. A hostess is needed. Staff couldn't figure out how to get us seated at one of the open tables. We came at around 6:30 last night and quickly realized that unfortunately the only two people working to serve the whole restaurant were one of the managers and our server Katelyn. She gave us a heads up on the expectation for the wait, but our enchiladas still came quick and hot and we were checked on multiple times during our visit. They were out of the lime juice needed for my husband's margarita, but quickly offered another drink for the same price and gave us a coupon for a free margarita later. We are local and have eaten their food at the food truck during alpenglow. It was fine. We came into the restaurant after an event on the mountain. I was told to seat myself and we put in an order for three apps when our "server" dropped off menus. After 58 minutes of no food, no one checking in on us or anything, we decided to leave. Staff was walking around seemingly doing nothing more than looking at the TVs and running drinks to the patio. We came in before the rush yet still didn't have any sort of acknowledgement. I love Jose in Crested Butte! The restaurant has great views accompanied by an inviting atmosphere. There was live music on the patio when I visited which I particularly loved. The staff was very kind and attentive. They brought out a water bowl for my dog and a blanket for me when it got colder out. The food is tasty and different from other Mexican restaurants I have tried. Great place to stop by if you're looking for a tasty cocktail with dinner and a good view!
