This is hard, I could give the food a 4 star but the service a 1 star. This was our third time in this Holiday Inn and this hotel restaurant. We have had horrible service each time and great food. Go for the food, laugh at the service if its bad, and plan on wasting too much time. There is a bar and it looks stocked but we don't drink so I really can't say. There was a drunk guy who was telling stories at top volume for the first hour we were there. No one seemed to cut him off but it was clear he was long past his limit. Our waitress was simply incompetent. I don't get why she is even employed. I mean the most basic of skills that any 8 year old should learn at home seemed beyond her. It was clear the other waitress (who might have been a manager) was extremely frustraters with her. And she did offer us deserts without charge and tried to apologize. The hotel is very nice, perhaps one of the nicest in town. The lunch, restrooms, and even hallways are all upscale for a small town, more like what I would expect in larger and more sophisticated towns. I had a steak with red skinned mashed potatoes and a house salad. The salad had home made croutons that were very good, worth eating alone. The menu is interesting, a little Southern, a little Cajun, a little middle American. My son had a stuffed chicken and my wife had Cordon blue which was home made and she really liked them. We all enjoyed our shard dressings and the food was all better than you'd expect for a chain hotel menu. There are even frog legs and gator bites. We had ordered an appetizer but it never showed up. We might try it again and hope for a different waitress, she really does the grill a disservice. read more

I am giving a 3, but that's only because our Waiter saved the day. He deserved a 5! We popped in last week (Thursday night football). Sad to see the places was so empty. My gal pal and I (we live in the adjacent neighborhood) thought it might be fun to see what was up! The young man who served us was wonderful.. The food? Iffy.. When I first walked up to the host station, I noticed there was about 2 people at the bar and 2 people at a table, so it wasn't very busy. I stood at the front where there is a sign "please wait to be seated" and waited for someone to come (which I know the bartender saw me and didn't even acknowledge I was there). The lady at the front desk of the hotel came over and assisted, thank you Lexi. I sat at the bar and when I inquired about the menus it was a quick answer and walk away. I'm trying to converse and enjoy the environment. I sat there where I watched the bartender and waitress eat french fries, play on their phones, and chat. The bartender had little to NO conversation with me. I have not been checked on, which I was wanting to order a drink-no thanks now! She slides the rolled up silverware to me with her body faced away like I'm wasting her time. It's been 30 minutes and I still have not gotten my food, or a follow up from the bartender. I got my food and cut into my steak. The 1st thing I noticed is that it smelled different. The bartender didn't check to make sure it was cooked right or ask to see how everything was. I just ate the broccoli and potatoes because the steak didn't taste right either. Still haven't been checked on, I hear her talking to her friend and saying she just hates people today and then cusses about something. After I push my food away she asks if I want my check, most people would have asked if something was wrong. Maybe Shelby isn't in a position that uses her skills. So I will be getting food at the little kiosk thing. read more
