Jake used a combination of techniques on me utilizing various sports stretches, hands on deep tissue massage, used cupping in which I can say i was unaccustomed to, and even got in using a massage gun. I can say I was definitely in less pain and felt much better after. Jake was very professional and evaluated my pain level throughout my massage and after discussed follow up and aftercare. I have now received three prenatal massages here and I wholeheartedly recommend!! Each time I have had Angie, who is incredibly well versed on the different stages of pregnancy and what symptoms I may be having or how she may need to adjust. They have the special pillow to be able to lay face-down (sadly at 30 weeks I just graduated from being able to use it!) and all sorts of other support items to make it as safe as possible while also being a legitimate massage. This may have been one of the best massages I've ever had & I've been to many high end places but they don't compare. As soon as you walk in you feel so welcomed it's like a small family vibe they give off. My masseuse was very knowledgeable about the body and pressure points, she even gave my tips that I could use at home with my little ones!! I had a 90 minute full body massage and I felt like it was the perfect amount of time. My favorite part was the fact they rub your feet!!! & they rub your head it's apart of your body you don't even know needs to be rubbed but it releases so much tension. This place makes you WANT to ensure self care!! My only SMALL complaint is the walls are thin you can hear the person next to you conversation and when people walk in. This place was voted Best of Rhode Island and recommended by a doctor for my chronic back pain, which is why I decided to go here. My massage therapist was Tom and he was quite good. I have to say this was the first time I've had a massage where you get to the "ok flip over" part, and it wasn't still agonizing to my lower back to turn over. So that was refreshing. My massage was half pain relief, half relaxation. I can tell you that I could tell distinctly which was which. But the relaxation portion was very good. He didn't skimp out on the feet, arms, legs, hands, even head like a lot of massage therapists do. I'd have to say my feet and head were my favorites. Don't expect any kind of fancy decor or foofy treatment, but just a good massage. $70 for an hour is a heck of deal too. My only real complaint is that it was a wee bit chilly and that's not very relaxing. Otherwise it was pretty good. My back doesn't hurt as much and the rest of me feels great. read more

Sara at Blackstone Massage is unbelievably great. Sara is a kind and thoughtful person. This translates great into being a good massage therapist. She listens and remembers what you tell her. Sara has great experience and just gets it. When she lays her hands on you she can always tell what is bothering you and get to the root cause. She will work that out and get you to a blissful Zen. I am one that likes a deep tissue massage, but she has taught me that precision targeting of deep and firm can be more beneficial. Don't be fooled by the entrance to this place, the location is small but super clean, inviting and relaxing. Sara's room is always the correct temperature, clean, and scent free which is important to me. Even though she does offer some aroma stuff. We tried the Blackstone Massage Therapy Center last week after reading a few reviews about it on-line. It's a straight forward massage office, there's no fru fru aromatherapy products for sale, lemon water, or zen garden, etc... My wife's massage therapist was Chris and mine was Sarah. They are both friendly and professional with extensive massage therapy backgrounds. Sarah concentrated on my back with a deep tissue massage as I requested and it really did wonders on making my back feel better. Additionally, she stretched out different areas of my back, legs, shoulders, and arms and explained how each contributed to helping decrease my lower back pain. My wife enjoyed her massage and said it was one of the best she has ever had. I highly recommend the Blackstone Massage Therapy Center. read more

I will acknowledge that my first massage was, for the most part, competent. However, the massage therapist, giuseppe, first was overly fussy about how I needed to get under the covers when I was there, which I felt was odd. Then, when a rib or spine in my upper back left shoulder blade made a cracking sound at one point I asked him did he hear it, he said "no I didn't hear it" in this very unconvincing tone of voice, combined with a little laugh implying he did hear it and was trying to gaslight me or play me for a fool somehow. He then said, even more nastily, "I didn't hear that because of the music playing." When my rib cracks like that, everyone can hear it. He then made remarks that amounted to near exact quotes of what an individual said to me in a context that was criminal. I'm a victim of organized crime involving unethical medical experiments, rape and murder attempts that left me with brain damage. My whole experience at this place felt like an attempt to intimidate me in some way in connection with my speaking up about what's happened to me. However, rather than being threatening, this person merely choose to do everything possible to psychologically abuse me in a manner intended to remind me of the more cruel elements of the crimes perpetrated against me, almost like rather than intimidate me into shutting up about what happened to me via direct threats, he simply wanted to deliberately trigger me as a victim. I should explain that one of the systematic things done to me to intimidate me as a victim of all this criminal conduct was not only to threaten my life but also to have gay men lead me on romantically, only to abruptly cease contact with me, and then various individuals inform me that the individual I was romantically attached to was invited to "hate parties" in my honor, where in return for breaking it off with me and betraying me from the standpoint of how one is supposed to be supportive of victims of rape, he was invited to all sorts of very fun sex parties, and was the life of the party for awhile, with drugs supplied to partiers by the same wall street criminals responsible for profiting off some of the unethical medical experiments I was a victim of. Guiseppe directly quoted several really nasty things one of the men allegedly invited to "hate parties" in return for betraying me said. Meanwhile, while the first massage was fairly competent, in the second massage, first he made me wait seven minutes before starting the massage, originally scheduled for 5:30. Then he deliberately failed to do the spot in my upper back left hand side that I said from the beginning is the most painful spot, until almost the very end, at which point I ask him is he ever going to do that spot, so he does it briefly and then stops at 6:37 and in a guilt trippy tone of voice says "it's 6:37," pretending he had given me more than an hour. When it turned out to be not enough, I still had pain afterwards, I call the massage place, the owner Sara refused to talk to me, said she'd have Christopher handle it. I told her she needs to talk to me since Guiseppe's behavior struck me as intimidating in a criminal way. On top of it, the need to book another massage because of continuing horrible pain he deliberately refused to fix is costly and this looks like a deliberate attempt (synonymous with several incidences of car vandalism I've recently endured) to incur me extra cost right at a time when I should be saving up money for a retainer to pay for attorneys to help with the legal situation, e.g., economic sabotage. Christopher eventually texted me and pretended that he was very very busy. "I'm busy and have more important people to deal with than you and you are an insignificant nobody" was his attitude. When I talked to Christopher, he literally told me "just go to another therapist" and at another time said, with a really nasty attitude, "then just don't get massages," implying I should simply live with excruciating pain and put up with it. This was the exact opposite of an apology. Bottom line, I'm a victim of the type of rape and intimidation victims of Harvey Weinstein have had to deal with, this is why victims of high profile perpetrators don't come forward. Not only that but I want to note, Blackstone Massage seems to have arranged for yelp to have my first review of this place removed because I attached a copy of a website telling my story. Interestingly enough, a similar review I made of the bar, Dark Lady, of even more vicious mistreatment of me occurred was electronically deleted in a manner to make it look like I hadn't even written it in the first place. Another review I wrote was altered electronically in a manner designed to discredit me. Note how the abuse has a Racketeering component to it: the businesses perpetrating the abuse seem to rely on yelp employees or computer hackers to alter my reviews in a way that covers up the abuse at my expense. read more

I first went to Sara with a persistent pain due to an old injury. She was excellent and proved her integrity by referring me to Chris because of his experience with my particular injury. With my permission she sat in on a couple of my sessions with Chris. That really showed me how much the therapists at Blackstone are dedicated to expanding their knowledge and experience. It really means a lot to me that she would give up a client to put my needs first. I sent my boyfriend to her and he said she was awesome. I have had multiple physically traumatic experiences in the past 8 years and I was very sensitive when I went in. Along with acupuncture, I saw Chris every 10 days for a couple months. I have been getting massages my entire life. I live with a lot of pain because of my career choice I'm photographer and a make up artist my work with my body every day. Massage is a huge part of my life because it's the only thing that provides me relief. I am in town in Providence for a night for work and I googled black stone massage and found Giuseppe! Scheduled an appointment hoping for massage therapy on a tight calf muscle. After 10 minutes discussing my situation with owner Chris he recommended a full body massage for my first visit. I said I wasn't comfortable with that, especially considering my issue was lower leg pain. He got mad and insisted I pay the entire $115 first visit fee. Website says 100 percent satisfaction guarantee on first visit. Chris argued that only applies if you complete the massage.
