Saturday evenings they usually serve prime rib. I tried it tonight, it was the best I've ever had. It was perfectly cooked, tender and delicious. The potatoes were also tasty. As much as I tried I couldn't eat the whole generous portion , thankfully my husband was willing to help. One of my favorites is chicken Parmesan, so it was hard to venture a change by ordering the Prime Rib, but I was glad I did. It was very satisfying. The staff is very nice and attentive as well! We ordered pierogies for appetizer. They came out greasy and not even on a something to absorb the grease. We were charged $16.95 for 7 pierogies which I thought was pretty steep. Then I ordered fish and chips. The fish was frozen obviously and deep fried so fast that the batter was full of grease and the inside was soggy still. There was hardly any fish inside the batter at all. I sent it back after 3 bites. My fiancé ordered a burger that kept falling apart and chunks of the burger kept falling out of the bun. Also it was totally lacking any flavor. When the bill came I was still charged for the fish and chips that I sent back and had to ask they be taken off the bill, which they were. We won't be back. Casual restaurant with an influence of Italian dishes. Nice large menu. Drink-wise, this place isn't great - not too many choices. We started with a shrimp cocktail app that was a special. It was good but still had some frozen ice on them. My husband got the Osso Buco - he liked it but didn't love it. Meat was tender and potatoes were good. The veggies were nothing great. I got fried calamari for dinner - yuck - it was those really large rings that look like Cuttlefish - didn't care for it. I saw a lot of Italian dishes going out - I think those are the dishes to get. This place is AMAZING! Last night we were there for the first time as we were looking for a place to celebrate somewhere near enough to meet our nephew and new bride. The YELP reviews weren't great but were good enough as we also needed a place with outdoor dining and Prime Rib (for our autistic son) who wanted to use his birthday money for his favorite meal. We are probably the only people in NJ still wearing masks but because of our son's rare blood disorder, we need to make every effort to avoid him getting sick. This also contributes to us rarely being able to eat in restaurants anymore, so we were really looking forward to a good meal, and good company without our masks on the lovely summer night on the outdoor patio. Because our party was too busy chatting almost all of us ordered the Prime Rib without looking at the menu. The portions were HUGE, the plate was full of delicious mashed potatoes and vegetables and an extra EXTRA large chunk of meat - the best Prime Rib we have ever had! I called the week before to make a reservation and asked about the Prime Rib. I was told that they normally don't have it on a week night, but he (I think it was Pete the owner) said if you're defintely coming next week we'll reserve the table outside and I'll have the Prime Rib for you. A week later he did just that, and was ready for us! Blackstones was about 30 minutes from our home but WELL WORTH the trip! The waitress was also great and didn't miss a beat! She didn't seem to mind coming back several times as we were not all ready to order - and it was a pretty late dinner at 8pm. She was just notably nice. Not the "phoney" Disney bubbly kind of nice, just authentically genuinely nice. Like Pete the owner. It was positively refreshing. The desserts? We shared just to try them because we were all pretty stuffed and already had our to go bags. But, the waitress said the were homemade sooooo ... They were FANTASTIC and we had more than just a taste lol! Finally, a pup (the owner's or one of the staff's maybe) came out onto the patio to "say goodnight" dressed with a glow light around his neck as we were getting ready to leave. This is a great place to go to for 'real down home cooking' ! The portions are more than human size so you may be taking some home. Their veggie pie is great! Absolutely LOVE this place!!! I wish I could afford to eat here more than once a week, but we go as much as we can afford. Amazing portions for your $. We always have plenty to take home for leftovers. Favorites are the homemade garlic bread, house salad with homemade dressing,shrimp scampi, lasagna, baked ziti, pizza with sausage, peppers, onions and garlic. Drinks are priced fairly and are affordable. It is a nice cozy feeling dining either at the bar or at a table. Patty the bartender is not only a great bartender but also an amazing server and is usually by herself taking care of the entire place. Oh how I missed the Pietros' veal saltimbocca when they closed. By chance in a conversation, someone said they heard the same owner had opened a new restaurant. Finally had a chance to stop by. We were served white bread rolls with butter then ordered goulash because it was a special on the menu. The sauce was good but the meat was like shoe leather. We asked if pirogies were home made and the server said no they were frozen. the bar was full of guests but we were the only dinner guests at dinner time. My husband had two delicious pints of beer and I had ice water. The bill was $82.00! The food was terrible But drinks were great. We watched her try to hide doing it as she kept one piece of pizza on the tray. From our seat we could see into the kitchen she took the slice and put it on the side for herself. Great for basic comfort food. Burgers are a good size and cooked as ordered. Pizza is amazing. Been here a number of time and I stick with the basics. The few times I have ordered a special I have not been as pleased. Service is very inconsistent, but it's not a problem. Everyone is really pleasant. If I could give a no star review I would! We read many reviews and it seemed like a great place to try. My husband and I get nachos everywhere we go. They were the worst nachos we have ever had..the chip were all crushed like they came from the bottom of a bag and they cheese was rock hard. The burger I had was basically loose ground beef on a bun with again hard cheese...I have never have a burger fall apart into pieces as I ate it. My husband also got a burger except his had mushrooms. He couldn't even eat the burger because it had a horrible smell....definitely not a place to try! Brought me a steak and smashed potatoes, with vegetables. Hearty meal. Just what I needed. I left with a couple of cannoli. I cannot thank them enough for staying open and making me dinner, and most of all making me feel welcome. Walked in around 9:45 pm looking to catch a game and have a few beers. Immediately me and my friend received a nasty stare down from the middle aged, female bartender who clearly hated her job there. There was about 4 other people sitting at the bar, and she had cleaned and set aside bar stools among the side we walked toward as if she wanted the place to be closed. We politely asked if they were still open (Google says they are open till 12 am or we wouldn't have even entertained going there) and she scoffed, looked at the kitchen and roughly said yes. After ordering our beer, the bartender started her pour out of the tap. This is not my business, but let me describe how she did this- she would pour the beer, filling the glass about half with head, half with the rest of beer, then let sit for 5 seconds or so. The head of the beer would settle briefly, then she'd repeat, filling the glass with head, then beer, pour out the foam, then fill again. She must've poured 2.5 beers for one that we ordered. Hilarious and sad! About 5 mins later I accidentally spilled my beer. I was not drunk or doing anything stupid, it was a clumsy mistake. When the check came, I was charged for the beer. I had drank maybe 6/8ths. Granted yes, it was my fault. I'm not looking for a handout or a free beer (not that I drank any of the one I spilled) but this happens often at bars. It's common just due to the nature of people being in that environment. What establishment charges a customer for a customer accidentally spilling a beer? Stuff happens and it's about hospitality. Ridiculous! (I did not complain about this at all, by the way.) I ordered Buffalo Calamari. It came out regular Calamari, not tossed in the buffalo sauce I asked. I told the bartender, and she gave me a confused, aggravated look which clearly bothered her. It was taken back. Not 3 MINUTES later, it came back. It was lazily tossed and completely lathered in Buffalo Sauce. When I mean completely lathered, I mean unbearably drenched. There was no care about actually fixing the issue, the chef (owner I believe) tried to mask the issue with carelessness. I couldn't even finish it, it was disgusting. When it came time to pay me and my friend asked to split the check. We were on the same bill. We simply asked to put his drink and food on his debit card, and for me to pay the rest cash, or vice versa. The lazy, angry bartender apparently couldn't do this. Yes, I'll repeat- in 2017 a restaurant could not complete this task, that or the bartender didn't give a crap enough to put in the effort. If I could give 0 stars I would! I look forward to seeing this dump slowly go downhill, which I will monitor with a smile from afar. Stay away, it's pathetic! read more

We ordered take out from Blackstones tonight , we've always wanted to stop in but just haven't had a chance since moving to the area. My husband is a major picky eater / BBQ snob, every time we go out to eat I ask him how his food is and he either says "eh" or "sucks". But tonight he actually said "excellent" when I asked him how his Jack Daniels ribs were. I was shocked! Everything you can tell was made in house, not frozen.
